Chapter 943 All Words Now Seem Powerless

Alexander murmured gently, yet Victoria slowly resumed her seated position.

She lowered her gaze to her wrist being held, the urge to pull away for once absent. Instead, she lifted her eyes to meet his gaze and softly inquired, "Are you sincere?"

"What other choice do I have?" Alexander responded with a wry smile.

Victoria held his gaze for only a few seconds before looking away. She was not devoid of emotion; she could sense when someone treated her well.

If he hadn't deceived her so many times, she would have been certain of his sincerity in that moment.

But it was too difficult.

She was moved by him in this manner, only to find herself returning to his side without hesitation. And then what?

The pain, scars on her body, and the psychological torment she endured made it hard for her to easily relent.

So, after a long pause, Victoria struggled to produce the word, "Fine."

Alexander's grip on Victoria's hand tightened slightly in that instant.

It was that single word that gave him hope.

He pulled her onto his lap, effortlessly enveloping her, his gaze locked with hers, unable to look away.

He believed he could win her back.

That she would once again smile at him without inhibition, be playful with him.

He held her close, resting his chin on her shoulder, lightly playing with her fingers. It seemed that words now felt powerless; all he needed was this, to feel each other's warmth, to simply exist.

Diana returned to the neighborhood and parked her car, unable to resist glancing at the window of Curtis' house—it was dark.

Curtis was not there. Where had he gone?

Did he visit the resting place of his departed love, Juliette, to pay homage to their love? Or had he gone to a KTV, drowning his sadness in song?

Diana felt a twinge in her heart as she thought of Alexander openly kissing Victoria on the street. While she might say it was disgusting, deep down, she hoped that one day the man she liked would also kiss her without holding back in public.

It was a form of acknowledgment.

A declaration to the world that their relationship was strong and unbreakable.

Lost in her thoughts, Diana heard the sound of a car approaching from behind and stepped aside.

It was a new sedan, and parked in the spot next to her.

Diana watched curiously as Curtis stepped out, dressed in a black t-shirt and blue jeans, tall and refined like jade.

He didn't look much different from Alexander.

With handsome men all around her at home, her standards were quite high. If a man didn't have good looks, she wouldn't take notice.

Diana felt herself slipping again as he calmly emerged from the car.

"Ms. Harrington didn't go on a date?" Curtis asked.

"I just finished one," Diana answered.

"Oh? How did it go?" He continued.

"He was introduced to me by my mother. Andre comes from a wealthy family, idolizes me blindly, says he doesn't mind me being older, and wants to marry me straight away."

Diana spoke freely as they walked. These words had been rehearsed in her mind countless times, delivered flawlessly.

Curtis walked beside her, the moon and stars as witnesses, a scene of loneliness below.

Entering the building, he turned before unlocking his door, "And you, do you like him?"

"He's alright. We'll date and see how it goes."

Diana didn't turn back, her tone sounding somewhat insincere.

She pushed open her door and entered her home, her large eyes filled with a sense of peril, as if she had almost revealed the truth just now.

Observing Adrian's performances had imparted some valuable lessons to her. Curtis entered his room, the silence outside quickly enveloping him, even the sound-controlled lights dimming.

They would meet again the next morning. Diana left to buy breakfast and noticed Curtis's door ajar, prompting her to curiously step inside.

Curtis emerged slowly from the kitchen, standing straight in the doorway of the dining room as he looked at her, "Good morning."

"I only came in because I saw the door open," Diana explained.

"It's fine, I forgot to close it," Curtis replied.
