Chapter 518 The Doctor Said My Condition Worsened Again

"Victoria clutched her phone, sinking onto the bed, feeling more and more down.

""Done with your shower?"" Alexander leaned coolly against the door, but when he saw her outfit, he lost his composure and just stared.

Hearing his voice, Victoria instinctively looked over.

Alexander, still in his pajamas, held a bouquet of roses.

Victoria stood up slowly, confused.

'Where has he been? Does he know he scared me to death? He didn't answer his phone. I thought he went to see Isabella again,' she thought.

The mix of relief and frustration overwhelmed her. She walked toward him, steps growing faster, and hugged him. ""Where did you go?""

""To get flowers,"" Alexander said, breathing in her familiar scent. He looked down at her and asked, ""What's wrong?""

Maybe it was the love from the past few days that made Victoria drop her guard. She said sadly, ""I thought you went to see Isabella.""

Alexander hugged her with one arm and kissed her forehead. ""You silly. With you dressed like this, why would I go see another woman?""

Victoria didn't look up, just hugged him tighter.

He probably didn't understand the fear of thinking she had lost him.

Alexander asked, ""Why don't you hold the flowers first?""

""Why?"" Victoria asked.

""Because I want to hold you right now,"" he said gently.

They finally looked into each other's eyes, like a couple newly in love, full of affection.

In another room, Arabella sighed. ""Look at Alexander, being all romantic in our room.""

Maximus glanced at her. ""Alexander saw me with the flowers last night. By the way, what did you buy today?""

""I got some sexy lingerie for Victoria. I wanted to buy more, but we ran into Naomi and Isabella, and..."" Arabella recounted her day, then added, ""You wouldn't believe it, but Victoria acted just like a mini Alexander today.""

Maximus was stunned.

Arabella continued, ""She even did a countdown—three, two, one—just like Alexander did with his sister..""

Maximus said, ""Maybe that's what they mean by couples starting to look alike.""

When Victoria woke up, she was already in a beautiful silk slip dress.

The straps hung loosely on her shoulders, giving it a unique charm.

She opened her eyes, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Last night, Alexander had changed her back into regular pajamas, saying he really couldn't control himself. He thought that since they had waited this long, a few more days wouldn't matter.

Their wedding was just around the corner.

Alexander was in a good mood in the morning. After playing some basketball with Maximus, he returned to the room and saw Victoria staring at the roses. He walked up to her. ""You're awake.""

""Are these the roses Maximus bought for Arabella?"" Victoria asked.

""They're yours now."" Alexander bent down, kissed her cheek, then stood up. ""I'm going to take a shower.""

""Don't catch a cold,"" Victoria reminded him.

Alexander made an “OK” gesture and walked inside.

Victoria got up, smiling at his back, then looked at the roses again.

This kind of happiness felt like a dream.

The person she loved also happened to love her.

Even though Alexander didn't say it, his actions showed it.

Victoria reflected on everything that had happened. When everyone thought she had been raped, Alexander didn't judge her. Instead, he was mad she hadn't told him right away. When he thought she was pregnant, he worried she'd be embarrassed, so he personally bought a pregnancy test and took her to the hospital.

'If this isn't love, then what is?' Victoria thought.

In the morning, they both headed back to work in South City from The Harrington Mansion. When Victoria saw Janaye, she told Alexander to go ahead.

Janaye hugged Victoria's arm. ""Sorry to keep the esteemed Mrs. Harrington waiting.""

Victoria laughed. ""Let me see how sorry you are.""

She really looked, and Janaye shyly buried her face in Victoria's arm.

""By the way,"" Janaye said, ""I ran into Isabella yesterday. Guess what?""

""What?"" Victoria asked.

Janaye whispered, ""Isabella was drinking with an old man at the bar, and she didn't resist at all when he touched her.""

Victoria guessed the man was probably Timothy. She didn't know what to think about Isabella, who was so blatant.

Around ten in the morning, Alexander came out of the office, and Victoria immediately stood up. ""Mr. Harrington.""

""I'm going to the island. I'll probably be back very late. Just have Mark take you back to The Harrington Mansion or Regal Retreat after work, okay?"" Alexander said.

""Okay,"" Victoria agreed.

Janaye watched Alexander leave, then softly asked Victoria, ""Mr. Harrington is personally handling your wedding?""

Victoria nodded. ""Yes.""

She looked at Alexander's departing figure, feeling particularly gratified. She really didn't expect Alexander to be so serious.

The ringing phone brought her back to reality. Victoria answered, ""Hello, this is Victoria. Please go ahead.""

Alexander had just arrived at the dock and saw Benjamin waiting by the boat. ""Why are you down here?"" he asked.

Benjamin reminded him. ""Isabella is on board.""

Alexander squinted at the boat. ""Why did she come along?""

""We ran into Isabella when we left Regal Retreat. She said she just wanted to have coffee with us. When we said we were going to the island to help, she immediately got in my car,"" Benjamin explained.

Benjamin believed Isabella was attempting to sabotage them. The wedding had never meant to include Isabella, but with her already on board, they were powerless.

When Alexander boarded the boat, Isabella immediately saw him. Her heart started to race. She knew she liked him, the kind of like that she couldn't let go of even if she died.

Timothy wasn't evil, just no match for Alexander. Plus, he had no concern for Isabella's future. He even said that as long as she was willing, they could be lovers for life. Timothy was just suitable for being a lover. But any woman standing in front of Alexander would be moved.

Today, Isabella had specially worn a long white dress and white high heels, with light makeup. She quickly went to greet Alexander. ""Alexander, you're here.""

""What are you doing here?"" Alexander asked coldly.

""I wanted to see the wedding venue.""

""Nope.""

""Please take me. I promise I won't cause any trouble.""

""Isabella, you...""

""The doctor said my condition has worsened recently. Please, just this once. I promise I won't bother you again,"" Isabella pleaded.

Alexander turned to her, smiling involuntarily.

Benjamin and Edward stood outside, frowning. Benjamin finally said, ""Let's go. It's going to rain soon.""

""Alexander."" Isabella grabbed his wrist, her eyes pleading humbly."
