Chapter 803 Injury from a Fall

After dinner, Alexander sat on the couch, watching the news again.

Victoria went to the kitchen to find a painkiller, and when she came out and saw him there, she mentioned, "Aren't you going out for a drink?"

"I'll take Strawberry back first."

"Since you're taking her back, and she won't have time to accompany you, why don't you take Strawberry tomorrow?"

"You're so considerate. How about I come over at midnight?"

"Midnight?"

"Isn't it Saturday after midnight?"

"It's up to you."

Victoria was helpless. He wanted to come and pick up the child in the middle of the night, and she couldn't understand his thoughts.

Alexander left Victoria's place, stood downstairs, and lit a cigarette. He took a few frustrated puffs, then slowly walked into the night.

In the private room at the club, Benjamin was drinking alone to relieve his boredom. When Alexander pushed the door open, Benjamin laughed, "Did you get kicked out?"

"What's up with Mr. Beaumont?"

Alexander said indifferently.

"I'm not much better off than you."

Benjamin said, taking another sip of his drink.

His in-laws still didn't agree with him being with Tessa. They even imposed a curfew on Tessa, making her come home by 10:30 PM.

Alexander walked over with his long legs, sat down, and poured himself a drink.

The old love songs were playing on the sound system. After listening to a few lines, Alexander irritably grabbed the remote to pause it and toasted with Benjamin.

Benjamin asked, "Why did Victoria kick you out tonight?"

"I deliberately took Daisy's call in front of her and said I was going out for drinks with Daisy after eleven."

Alexander's deep voice sounded childish even to himself as he said it.

He still foolishly hoped to provoke her.

She wasn't the type to be provoked; the more you provoked her, the further she ran.

But even though it never worked, he couldn't help but do it again and again.

Benjamin couldn't help but laugh at his words, "I heard she stole your divorce papers. What's the situation now?"

"Victoria should receive feedback soon, and then..."

Alexander leaned back, hands clasped behind his head. He was also eagerly waiting.

He couldn't wait to see her unhappy little face.

The Attorney was indeed formidable, but this was Ankenra City.

Soon, there was a knock on the door. The two looked towards the entrance, and Benjamin got up to open it.

Seeing who was at the door, Benjamin immediately glanced inside and then smiled at the person outside, "Ms. Bryant, what brings you here?"

"I just got a membership here. I heard Mr. Beaumont was here, and I wanted to apologize to him."

"I see."

Benjamin responded thoughtfully, smiled at Daisy, and then looked at Alexander.

Alexander was very annoyed. He came out to drink away his sorrows with Benjamin, but why did people keep interrupting?

Benjamin sat back down but didn't invite Daisy in.

Daisy stood in front of them, looking apologetic yet still carrying a princess-like air.

She began, "That night, I was jealous. When I got home, my dad scolded me harshly and grounded me for several days. I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have made up reasons out of jealousy. I was right initially, but it turned out I was wrong."

Benjamin frowned in confusion, "Is this an apology?"

"Yeah."

Daisy felt Benjamin was dissatisfied with her apology.

Benjamin smiled, "This doesn't sound like an apology. It sounds more like you're subtly blaming us."

Daisy immediately opened her mouth, looking misunderstood, "No, I'm apologizing. Of course, I won't deny that I was very angry with Ms. Hughes and Ms. Windsor's actions. No one would be humiliated like that and not get angry unless they had no self-respect. But I also know it was wrong of me to falsely accuse them of hitting me."

Daisy said.

Offending those two ladies did her no good.

These past few days had especially made her realize that.

Now, no one in the social circles of young noblewomen wanted to hang out with her.

Many girls her age were at home, but she couldn't get any of them to come out. That made it obvious, so she had to apologize.

Benjamin just smiled faintly. These men generally didn't bother with the petty squabbles between women, knowing they could handle such issues.

But did Daisy think everyone else was a fool?

Did she think all the effort she was putting in would be meaningful?

It would be, but only in making them look down on her even more.

Everyone should understand the importance of keeping a distance and maintaining some mystery. Otherwise, what was the fun in social interactions?

Benjamin glanced at Alexander, who was just looking at his phone, and said irritably, "You should leave."

"Does Mr. Beaumont accept my apology? And what about you, Mr. Harrington?"

Daisy asked cautiously, then looked at Alexander, who was still on his phone.

Alexander was...

Boss: [I'll pick up Strawberry at midnight sharp.]

Boss: [Don't even think about changing the password. I have ways to get in.]

Boss: [Victoria, don't pretend you didn't see this. Reply to me.]

Boss: [I order you to reply to me.]

My Dearest: [Mr. Harrington, Strawberry is in Eve's room. Please don't go into the wrong room.]

He had Victoria saved as "My Dearest."

She finally replied, but it was to make sure he didn't go into the wrong room.

Was she doing this for his sake?

Or...

Of course, she didn't want him going into her room, but in the middle of the night, was he supposed to go to her bodyguard's room?

Alexander, in a fit of anger, pointed at Daisy, "Don't move."

Daisy was startled but didn't move.

Alexander raised his phone and took a picture of her. Benjamin turned and looked at him questioningly, instantly feeling that things were about to go wrong.

Sure enough, Alexander quickly sent the photo to Victoria.

Half a minute later, Alexander suddenly stood up from the couch, "I have to go."

Benjamin thought Alexander knew how to create trouble for himself. This one would be hard to resolve.

After Alexander left and Benjamin heard the door slam, he immediately said, "You should leave too, before people get the wrong idea."

"What?"

"If you like Alexander, why are you still here after he left?"

Benjamin reminded her immediately.

"Then I'll take my leave and apologize to Mr. Beaumont again."

Daisy thought of her parents' advice to be gentle and turned to leave, of course, to chase after him.

"Mr. Harrington, Mr. Harrington."

No one answered her. As soon as Alexander got into the elevator, a staff member blocked Daisy outside, "Ms. Bryant, please stay."

Daisy had just renewed her membership here, so they were still polite.

Daisy, feeling anxious after being stopped, could only take the stairs to chase after him.

Alexander chatted briefly with some acquaintances in the lobby; then a strange noise suddenly came from the corner.

There weren't many guests in the lobby, but they all looked towards the stairs, including some staff members. Someone had already stepped forward, "Miss, are you okay?"

"I think I hurt myself."

Daisy, with tears in her eyes from the pain, looked up at the tall figure of Alexander in the distance.
