Chapter 129 Elopement

"Vicky, you must understand," Isabella began, her voice soft and pleading, "it's all too easy for a woman to be discarded after being too forward. Don't make the same mistakes I have. Look at your brother. He's become so indifferent towards me that I have to resort to every trick in the book just to capture his attention."

Isabella's lamentation rang out, her tone suggesting she was their younger sibling rather than the mistress of Victoria’s husband.

Why should Victoria be subjected to this?

Her hand tightened around her purse, her grip firm yet silent.

After all, the unloved party always found themselves at a disadvantage from the outset.

"Enough, Isabella," Alexander interjected, his tone laced with annoyance.

"We were discussing marriage just recently. Yet, after seeing me engage in a simple conversation with Sebastian, you're ready to abandon everything, even our unborn child."

Isabella's voice wavered, a plaintive note creeping in. She shot him a reproachful glance before swiftly averting her gaze. "Vicky, talk some sense into your brother. Is it right, the way he's treating me, the woman carrying his child?"

Victoria's head dropped, her posture resembling that of a person facing an insurmountable wall.

She was at a loss for words.

Overwhelmed by the awkward tension, she offered a polite nod as the elevator doors slid open, then made a hasty exit.

"Victoria," Alexander called, moving to follow her.

"Alex," Isabella countered, her grip on him tightening.

He turned to face her. "Do you even comprehend what you're suggesting?"

"I know I'm in the wrong. If you don't want this baby, I can get rid of it. Just please, don't be angry, alright?" Isabella pleaded, her voice small and humbled.

"You're having this conversation with the wrong person," Alexander retorted, firmly prying her hand off him before chasing after Victoria.

However, by the time he emerged outside, Victoria was already being whisked away in Adrian's car.

Throughout the drive, Victoria remained silent, her gaze fixed on the passing roadside scenery.

Whenever doubt seeped into her thoughts, she found herself lost in a distant reverie.

Adrian noticed her disheartened state but continued to drive in silence.

Victoria found herself absentmindedly fiddling with her fingers, Isabella's words echoing in her mind.

In this love triangle, she felt like an unnecessary third wheel.

'If Alexander is so infatuated with Isabella that a mere conversation with his friend incites jealousy, why does he continue to pester me? Is it merely to incite jealousy in Isabella? Does he crave the drama of her fretting over their complicated interactions and resorting to all sorts of tactics to appease him? Is love about making the other person constantly worry and strategize for you?' Victoria pondered.

She remembered feeling just like Isabella when they had first broken up.

Back then, she had yearned to cling to him, pleading for him to return.

However...

However, their relationship lacked a solid emotional foundation, and her self-confidence was non-existent.

Especially considering he had married her because she was unwanted by others.

He was already doing her a favor.

Lost in her thoughts, Victoria's gaze dropped to her hands, her eyes studying her immaculate fingertips.

Adrian pulled the car over to the curb, flipped open the convertible top, and cast a glance outside.

He was feeling agitated too.

Victoria snapped back to reality and turned to him. "Why have we stopped here?"

Adrian lit a cigarette, taking his time before responding.

She watched him in silence. "Adrian, is something bothering you?"

"It's you who's troubled," he finally admitted.

Victoria fell silent, her gaze dropping.

She was indeed troubled.

However, she believed her problems would eventually be resolved.

She had faith. She was certain she would leave this place.

"Vicky, let's elope."
