Chapter 102 Finding an Excuse

No matter Oscar's anger, he shouldn't joke about his body. Oscar couldn't listen to Harold's words, his mind filled with Pearl's determined figure. When would it be Pearl's turn to show him her back?

"Call Pearl," Oscar said coldly.

Harold was puzzled, not quite understanding what Oscar wanted to do. Their marriage had reached this point, which came as a surprise. No wonder they had a secret wedding. Harold used to think Pearl was low-key, and President Oscar respected her opinions by not telling everyone. Turns out it was a loveless marriage. What a shame.

Harold used to think President Oscar liked Pearl, but now it seemed not as much as imagined. Harold took out her phone and said, "Sure thing, President Oscar."

Harold called Pearl. At that moment, Pearl happened to be back home with her parents. Evans insisted on leaving the hospital; the doctor said the fracture wasn't severe, so they agreed to discharge Evans. However, with such a big incident at the hospital involving Pearl, they all kept silent, tacitly avoiding the topic, though their faces didn't show happiness.

The police also called her. Olivia and Isabelle were at the police station, accused of defamation and disturbing public order, with solid evidence, needing to bear legal responsibility. The police asked if she wanted to press charges. Pearl wanted to settle things with her parents before going to the police station.

She had just returned home and received a call, thinking it was from the police station. She said to Kittie, "Mom, I'll take a call."

"Okay." Kittie thought since Pearl and Oscar were getting a divorce, she wasn't suitable to stay with the Brown family to avoid gossip. She said, "Pearl, I'll tidy up your room. You can stay at home for now."

Pearl nodded, walked out, and quickly answered the call. "Hello."

"Pearl," Harold spoke, suddenly unsure of what to say, her gaze shifting to Oscar, not knowing his instructions.

Since it wasn't the police call, Pearl asked, "What's up, Harold." Pearl assumed Harold had a question for her.

Expressionless Oscar said lightly, "Tell Pearl my clothes are stained with blood, uncomfortable, and need to change into a new set!"

Harold immediately relayed the message: [President Oscar said his clothes are covered in blood, very uncomfortable, and he needs a new set.]

This statement left Pearl momentarily stunned. Why did Oscar want her to change his clothes?

Pearl pursed her lips and said, "He wants to change clothes. Can't you help him with that?"

Harold glanced at Oscar, realizing she was right. Oscar didn't need to find Pearl if he wanted to change clothes.

Harold covered the receiver. "President Oscar, Pearl says you can find the new clothes yourself!"

Oscar's face darkened, and he said coldly, "There are plenty of clothes at home; let her get them."

"Pearl, President Oscar says there are plenty of clothes at home, and he wants you to get them."

"Why can't you go?" Pearl couldn't understand. "I'm at my own home right now and don't have the time."

"President Oscar, Pearl says she's busy." Harold didn't want to trouble Pearl anymore. "President Oscar, should I go get the clothes for you?"

Oscar replied, "You don't know where they are." After a pause, he added, "Tell Pearl it's cold, and I want to wear the white checkered sweater. Only she knows where it is."

Harold relayed the message again.

Pearl stood by the window, watching the maple leaves fall outside. It was time to bring out the winter clothes as the weather cooled. She said, "The clothes are stored in the dressing room's left inner side of the wardrobe. The maid can easily find them."

Harold looked at Oscar. "Pearl says they're on the left inner side of the dressing room. The maid can find them."

Oscar furrowed his brow. "What about the coat? The camel-colored one."

"It's hanging in the closet," Pearl replied.

"No sweater, wear a suit, and find the blue striped tie," Oscar instructed.

Pearl frowned. "There are many blue ties. Which one do you want?"

"The vertically striped one."

"In the 28th slot of the tie box," Pearl said.

Anticipating more questions, Pearl provided a detailed explanation. "Mr. Oscar, except for the ones sent for dry cleaning, all the shirts are in the closet. The maid can easily find them. As for winter clothes, they're all organized in the dressing room. I've categorized them, and the ties are all together, each slot representing a different color. There shouldn't be any mistakes..."

No matter what Oscar said, Pearl could quickly respond. Pearl remembered everything clearly, whether it was a coat or a sweater, even every patterned tie. She didn't need to return to the Brown family; she could recite everything effortlessly.

Over the past three years, Pearl had taken care of Oscar's daily life, knowing his preferences and dressing style and even remembering every watch he owned. Pearl believed it was her duty as a secretary. And also a responsibility as a wife.

When she spoke, everything fell silent. After a moment of silence, Pearl inquired, "Anything else, Harold?"

Apart from surprise, Harold had no other expression, her gaze shifting to Oscar. Oscar remained silent, his face showing displeasure, blaming Pearl for not giving him any chance to make things difficult for her. At that moment, Pearl understood that Oscar was deliberately picking a fight. She didn't want to say more and simply said, "If you're okay, then I'll hang up!"

Pearl didn't even wait for Harold to reply before hanging up. After the call, Pearl breathed a sigh of relief.

In the past, whenever Oscar needed something, Pearl would immediately find it and send it over in the shortest time possible. In fact, refusing Oscar wasn't that difficult. Pearl had to overcome her inner resistance.

"Mr. Oscar, Pearl hung up," Harold cautiously stated the fact, unable to imagine Pearl being so indifferent this time. This was unlike her usual self. Most importantly, Oscar's expression was even worse than before, as if he could swallow the hospital in the next second. Growing slightly irritated, Oscar became even more agitated when Pearl ended the call.

Soon after, Pearl received another call from Harold. The calls seemed to be never-ending.

"Pearl, Mr. Oscar just asked the housekeeper, but they couldn't find the sweater he likes. He might need you to look for it personally."

Pearl furrowed her brow tightly. Not found? How could it not be found?

"Pearl, Mr. Oscar needs it now. The room is very cold, and I'm afraid he might catch a cold. His complexion isn't good, and if he gets a fever, the wound might get infected," Harold pleaded. "You know Mr. Oscar is usually picky. You understand him the best. Without you, his life would be quite uncomfortable. He's still in the hospital, hoping you can go for Mr. Oscar once."

Upon hearing Harold's plea, Pearl found herself hesitating. No matter how indifferent she felt toward Oscar, she couldn't ignore the injury he suffered for her.

With that in mind, Pearl said, "I understand. I'll go home and get it for him."
