Chapter 608 No One Is Allowed to Bully Her
Outside the ER, Savannah Faith, Damian's wife stormed in with her crew. The moment she spotted Janetta, she marched over and slapped her hard.
Pearl saw it and yanked Janetta behind her, shooting daggers at Savannah.
"Do you even know why I hit you?" Savannah's voice was ice-cold.
Janetta nodded, figuring it had to be about Damian. If it weren't for her, he wouldn't be in the ER.
"So, knowing that, you're still gonna hide behind your friend?" Savannah's tone got even frostier.
Janetta stepped forward, barely managing to say, "I'm sorry."
Savannah sneered, "If it weren't for you, he wouldn't be in this mess."
Pearl had enough and pulled Janetta back again, facing Savannah head-on. "Mrs. Clark, maybe you should get your facts straight first. It was Mr. Clark who—"
"Pearl, stop," Janetta cut her off. She felt it was all her fault.
Janetta apologized again, the scar on her neck glaringly obvious, making Savannah frown slightly.
Savannah turned to her crew, ordering, "Spread the word. Without my say-so, Janetta can't go near Mr. Clark."
Then she looked at Janetta. "Got any problems with that, or do you wanna take care of him yourself?"
"No, I'll do as you say. And, Savannah, once he wakes up, I'll leave and never show my face again," Janetta said, trying to clear up any misunderstandings.
Savannah burst out laughing. "No wonder Damian's so hung up on you. You're quite the manipulator, aren't you?"
Janetta stayed silent, knowing she was in the wrong. Savannah tried to slap her again, but Pearl stopped her.
Savannah glared at Pearl. "Mrs. Brown, if you interfere again, don't blame me for getting nasty."
"I don't care what happened to Damian; no one can hurt Janetta." Pearl said as she stood her ground, and Savannah cursed angrily.
Just then, the ER door swung open, and a nurse rushed out, running downstairs.
Everyone's faces turned serious. Janetta felt even more guilty, tears streaming down her face.
Savannah, supported by her crew, slumped into a chair, staring blankly ahead.
Pearl, worried Savannah might hurt Janetta, pulled her to sit on the other side, positioning herself to block Savannah's hateful glare.
After a long silence, Savannah spoke softly, "Do you really think your success is all you? Damian set up everything—the art shows, the connections, all of it. Without him, you'd be a nobody."
"Show her who made her," Savannah ordered.
A guy handed Janetta a thick file.
It detailed all the help Damian had given her over the years, from big art exhibitions to small things like a piece of clothing.
Everything was laid out, playing like a movie in Janetta's mind.
The file slipped from her hands. Unable to accept it, Janetta squatted down, holding her head and muttering, "It's not like this."
In her memory, Damian had arranged everything, even dictating what she could wear and where she could go. It shouldn't be him making her successful.
"Mrs. Clark, what are you getting at? Even if it's true, does that give you the right to hurt Janetta?" Pearl shot back.
Pearl still believed Damian was behind Janetta's previous accident, especially after seeing his erratic behavior today. She felt they needed to stay far away from him.
Savannah laughed coldly and stood up, pointing at Janetta. "Didn't you say you'd leave? Then go, disappear forever. I'm not Damian; I don't care about you."
Savannah's words were harsh, but it was exactly what Janetta wanted.
But she hesitated. Damian was still in the ER; she couldn't just leave.
Pearl uttered, "Fine, we'll go. But Mrs. Clark, make sure Mr. Clark doesn't come looking for Janetta again."
Pearl couldn't take it anymore. The person who caused all this was now playing the victim, and she wouldn't let Janetta be wronged.
After saying that, she pulled Janetta away.
Oscar hadn't said a word the whole time. Once they were in the car, he gently asked, "Janetta, do you still want to leave now?"
Pearl was stunned and retorted, "Why wouldn't we leave? You've seen what Damian is like. We have to go. Janetta doesn't need his help."
Janetta bit her lip and spoke softly, "I'll leave after he wakes up. No matter what, the car accident was because of me. I can't just walk away."
Pearl was angry but also understood Janetta.
She held Janetta's hand to comfort her, "Alright, stay at our place for now. I'll have someone keep an eye on Damian's condition and let you know as soon as there's any news."
"Thank you, Pearl." Janetta was grateful, but the words felt stuck in her throat.
Janetta decided to put together a solid plan before leaving. She needed to wrap things up properly and return anything that belonged to Damian.
For example, the art exhibition. Since Damian helped her organize it, it should be canceled.
Pearl knew what she was thinking and immediately expressed her support.
They arranged to meet with the investors and went to see them together.
At the tea room, Pearl noticed someone following them, but since she couldn't identify them, she stayed calm.
The investors had already arrived, and after some polite greetings, they praised every one of Janetta's paintings, especially highlighting a few representative ones to show their thorough preparation.
Janetta smiled modestly, wanting to bring up the idea of canceling the exhibition, but was interrupted by the waiter.
The waiter placed the tea leaves down and looked at Janetta, asking, "excuse me, are you the Ms. Janetta Clark hosting the art exhibition?"
"I am," Janetta admitted.
The waiter excitedly covered her mouth, saying, "I'm so thrilled. I finally get to meet you."
Turned out she was a fan.
The investors took the opportunity to suggest holding another exhibition on the other side of Willow Creek.
Janetta hesitated.
Pearl spoke directly, "I'm really sorry, Janetta's been quite busy lately and doesn't have time to manage the exhibition."
The investors smiled. "Ms. Clark, you just need to provide more excellent works. We will have professionals handle everything else."
Pearl wanted to say more, but the waiter happily grabbed Janetta, saying she would definitely bring her family and friends to support the exhibition.
