Chapter 142: Selling Medicine in Person

Pearl remained silent, unsure why Oscar suddenly reacted so strongly.

"Do you feel any better like this?" Pearl asked him again.

Oscar looked into Pearl's eyes and realized she didn't mean anything by it. He slightly pursed his lips, closed his eyes, and softly replied, "Much better."

Oscar knew Pearl was changing the subject, so he didn't bring it up either.

Pearl continued to massage him, her hands getting sore.

Upon hearing Oscar's steady breathing, Pearl stopped and fetched a thin blanket for him.

As Pearl walked out of the office, she bumped into Sarah.

"Ms. Pearl." Sarah greeted Pearl upon seeing her.

Pearl had gone into Oscar's office that morning, where she stayed for at least an hour.

At last night's banquet, it was evident to keen observers that there was a deep connection between Oscar and Pearl due to him smashing a bottle over Ryan's head.

Pearl nodded and returned to her workstation.

Janetta sent her a message: [How are you feeling? Do you want to consider my proposal?]

Pearl replied: [I've been very busy lately.]

Janetta didn't respond further.

It wasn't that Pearl was busy; she just didn't want to confront the issue. She could never bring herself to be tough on Oscar.

Soon it was noon.

As usual, Harold ordered lunch to the office.

Pearl needed to prepare everything for Oscar in his office.

Today, they sat face to face, and Oscar opened a bottle of water for her. When Pearl ate the tacos, she felt a bit nauseous. With Oscar sitting across from her, she had to force herself to eat.

"Your stomach seems sensitive. Don't force yourself to finish it. I'll take you to the hospital," Oscar said, noticing her expression as he set down his fork.

Pearl declined, saying, "It's just a sensitive stomach, and there's nothing they can do at the hospital. Besides, I don't want to go with you."

"Then let Quincy get you some medicine," Oscar suggested.

Oscar didn't force Pearl, but true to his word, Oscar dialed Quincy's number.

Pearl was next to Oscar, and with Oscar's phone working well, she overheard Quincy's complaint. "You woke me up! Oscar, what do you want?"

Oscar explained, "Pearl has a stomach issue, can you prescribe something for that?"

Quincy was surprised.

Oscar had disturbed his sleep for this, not knowing Quincy was on the night shift.

Suppressing his annoyance, Quincy instructed, "Just get some antacids from the pharmacy."

With that, Quincy hung up.

As the busy tone sounded from the phone being disconnected, Oscar remained unfazed.

Standing up, Oscar left.

Pearl assumed Oscar had some business to attend to, but to her surprise, he returned after about fifteen minutes with a box of medicine in hand.

Pearl was astonished.

Pearl never expected that Oscar would personally buy medicine for her!

Oscar said in a hoarse voice, "One pill at a time, after meals."

"Okay," Pearl replied.

"Mr. Brown, the Johnson Group representatives have arrived today, they are currently at the Hilton Hotel," Harold's voice approached from a distance.

Oscar glanced at Pearl. "Since you're not feeling well, this time Harold will accompany me, and you can stay in the office."

Oscar preferred to take Harold rather than Sarah.

Even though Sarah would be Oscar's secretary in the future, in Oscar's eyes, Sarah was insignificant.

After Oscar left, Sarah came to Pearl and lamented. "Ms. Pearl, Mr. Brown doesn't seem to like me much. Does he think I'm too straightforward?"

"It's not that. The person we're meeting today is an important client. Just focus on your job in the company," Pearl advised.

Oscar was the kind of person who remained indifferent to everyone.

If he truly disliked someone and there were no vested interests involved, he wouldn't allow that person to be in his presence.

Seeing Sarah silent, Pearl added, "Focus on your work; your motivation should come from doing your job well, not from whether he likes you or not."

Sarah pondered for a moment. "You're right. I understand now; I shouldn't be so anxious."

With that, Sarah returned to her workstation.

As Oscar went to meet the Johnson Group's leader, Pearl had the freedom to move around after work. She went to Kittie and Evans' place.

Unexpectedly, Isabelle and Olivia were there.

Isabelle and Olivia, instead of their usual arrogance, apologized to Pearl. "Seraphina is gone, that's enough. I plan to find a good job now and repay the debts my father owed before. Pearl, I didn't expect you to come back today."

Isabelle pursed her lips, and as she spoke, her gaze fell on Pearl.

She was still somewhat worried that Pearl wouldn't like her.

However, not long after, Isabelle received a job offer from the Hall Group.

Isabelle hadn't even interviewed with them.

The only possibility was that Pearl had helped Isabelle.

"Pearl, did you arrange this job for me?" Isabelle was surprised.

Pearl clarified the matter. "I helped you get it, but you also had the ability to sustain yourself in the long run. Whether it's the Brown Group or the Hall Group, you'll need to pass the interviews based on your capabilities."

The Hall Group happened to be recruiting, and Isabelle needed a job.

Moreover, Isabelle was a good fit, and Pearl simply lent a helping hand.

Olivia quickly expressed her gratitude, saying, "Pearl, thank you for helping me find a job! I'm really grateful to you!"

"Pearl, thank you for helping me find a job. With a stable income now, I can pay off the remaining debts sooner!"

With that, Isabelle choked up.

Pearl encouraged her. "Work hard, and you'll pay it all off one day."

"Okay." Isabelle nodded.

Isabelle and Olivia didn't stay long.

As they left, Kittie looked concerned. "Pearl, you're so forgiving to those who have mistreated you. I'm worried you'll get hurt in the future."

"If they can change for the better, that's great. If they can't and go on as before, I won't let them off the hook!" Evans asserted firmly.

Kittie remained silent. This time, Kittie was quite satisfied, and Evans didn't act as he did before.

"You rarely come back; what do you want to eat? I'll make it for you," Kittie asked Pearl.

"I'm a bit hungry; I'd like to have the pasta you always make."

Back at home, Pearl felt more relaxed than she did at the office.

"Alright, I'll make it for you!"

At that moment, both Kittie and Evans responded together. Kittie and Evans exchanged a smile and headed into the kitchen together.

This meal didn't take long for Kittie and Evans to prepare.

Pearl had a good appetite.

Just as she was enjoying the tomato sauce, Kittie became aware of something. "Pearl, are you pregnant?"
