Chapter 75 Jealous

Hathaway enjoyed feeling superior by belittling Pearl.

Pearl was sad and upset, which also increased her desire for revenge.

Successfully seeing Pearl's displeasure and pale face, Hathaway showed a smug smile. Her expression changed, and she stopped bothering Pearl.

These words have the same effect, so she doesn't need to say too much, otherwise, she would be wasting her energy.

Hathaway's words actually made some sense.

There was another woman living in the villa now.

In Pearl's impression, Oscar knew how to control himself, and he definitely wouldn't easily indulge other women outside.

He could reject Kelly so quickly, but he didn't reject Seraphina, and even arranged her in the villa, which was equivalent to him keeping a mistress.

Oscar recognized Seraphina as the woman he had met that night, and it was her first time. She seemed fragile and in need of protection, so he might have had special feelings for her.

Perhaps he thought she was different from other women.

For so many days, he hadn't returned home. Could he be staying at Seraphina's place? Pearl hadn't thought about it before.

Hathaway's words lingered in her mind, making her thoughts very confused. She also had another worry deep down. She hadn't had a chance to explain to Oscar that she didn't bring Seraphina here, so she kept thinking about seeing him.

Pearl wanted to try her luck. Coincidentally, the housekeeper called her over, and said that Seraphina was from the South and not used to the northern climate. She had developed a rash and was feeling uncomfortable. Pearl brought along some moisturizer suitable for Seraphina and went out.

She drove to the villa where Seraphina lived. When she got closer, Pearl saw the familiar Rolls-Royce parked at the entrance. She didn't know how long it had been there, but she knew it was Oscar's car. Just as she suspected, her mood instantly became intricate.

She suddenly hit the brakes, the car stalled, and she tightly gripped the steering wheel, her face paled. Did he really stay with Seraphina all these days? Would he fall in love with Seraphina?

Pearl asked herself many questions. Oscar liked women like Haley, and any woman similar to her would gain his sympathy, so he might slowly grow fond of Seraphina too. Perhaps after spending so many days together, he had already started to like Seraphina.

Initially, this was what she wanted. However, she didn't know why she felt so disheartened, her heart aching faintly. Pearl looked up at the mirror in front of her and saw her own pale face and lips. If she walked out like this, she might scare people.

She touched up her makeup, applied lipstick, and her complexion returned to normal. Only then did she drive the car over. Someone opened the gate for her at the villa. She parked the car, got out, and looked at the wide door.

She didn't see them inside. She walked slowly to the entrance with a bag in hand, and saw Oscar sitting on the couch. He held a newspaper, but he wasn't focused on its contents.

Instead, he was listening to Seraphina speak.

"I'm the oldest daughter in my family. My mother is sick, so I have to support the family. If I had been to college, I could read foreign language newspapers like you. Sometimes I envy others for their vast knowledge, while I don't know anything."

Oscar looked up and asked in a calm tone, "Do you really want to go to college?"

"Of course!" Seraphina's eyes sparkled with hope, but it quickly dimmed. "I haven't been to school in a long time, and even if I want to, the school won't accept me. I'm too dumb!"

Oscar refocused his attention on the newspaper in his hand and calmly said, "It's not difficult as long as you want to do it."

His words provided enough warmth to Seraphina. She sat close to him and asked, "President Oscar, can someone like me really go to college?"

"Yes," he replied.

Seraphina smiled happily, revealing dimples at the corners of her mouth. "President Oscar, you are so good to me. You are the best person in the world to me!"

These words caused a subtle change in Oscar's expression. He pursed his lips and put down the newspaper he was holding.

Pearl watched them. They seemed to get along harmoniously, laughing and joking with each other. It was the first time she had seen such a lively scene.

Even when Oscar was with Haley, he would always have a cold face. They never got along as harmoniously as this.

Seraphina's face showed a satisfied smile. As long as she could go to school, she would be this happy. She was truly different from many others.

She was innocent and naive, having not seen much of the world. It made people feel that she was pure and lovable.

Perhaps that was also one of her characteristics.

"Ms. Harris, why don't you come in?" A passing servant noticed pearl standing by the door and politely asked.

The people inside overheard the servant's words.

Oscar shifted his gaze and looked at Pearl by the door. He was initially taken aback, but then his face became cold and indifferent, as if he was still mad at her.

Seraphina quickly reacted and stood up from the sofa and exclaimed, "Ms. Harris, you've come to see me!"

She walked to Pearl's side, her emotions in her eyes sincere. "I thought you were still mad at me. I'm so happy that you could come to see me."

Pearl didn't want them to think that she had deliberately come here, so she said, "I heard that you have a rash on your skin, so I brought a bottle of lotion for you. It works really well. I hope it helps."

"Thank you, but President Oscar has already taken me to see a doctor," Seraphina replied.

Pearl looked at Oscar, somewhat surprised that he personally took Seraphina to see a doctor.

Just as Pearl was about to hand over the lotion in her hand, she awkwardly withdrew it, but Seraphina took it from her and held it happily in her arms. "But the gift you brought me is special. You care about me, and that makes me happy. I will definitely use this lotion after taking a shower tonight, and I'm sure I will get better soon."

Pearl gazed at Seraphina's smile and noticed that she seemed to be much happier than before. Was it because Oscar had given her a sense of warmth? Was that why she could relax like this?

She wanted to speculate if Seraphina had ulterior motives, but for now, Seraphina seemed genuinely fine. So, she couldn't say anything.

But Pearl couldn't help but feel uncomfortable in her heart.

She felt jealous.

"Please come in, don't stand at the door." Seraphina pulled Pearl inside.

When Oscar saw Pearl, he didn't pay much attention to her. His face was cold, which made her suddenly feel a little embarrassed. Although she came here with the excuse of bringing moisturizer, she was very clear about her own purpose, which was to find Oscar. But now she seemed to have broken their harmonious atmosphere, which made her uncomfortable.

With a calm face, she called out, "President Oscar."

Oscar looked up, his eyes cold.

"Secretary Pearl, you haven't cared about Seraphina these past few days, why are you suddenly concerned about her today?" Pearl felt that he was blaming her for not taking care of Seraphina.

She responded, "Because you're here. President Oscar, you care so much about Ms. Brooks, I never had a chance to care about her." She didn't realize that her words were sharp, but Oscar was displeased because of them.

He sarcastically said, "Thanks to you, Secretary Pearl, I have the opportunity to take care of her."
