Chapter 117 Hangover Cure

"It's not me just saying this, it's a fact! I heard that Pearl became a secretary even before graduating. She's so close to wealthy people. How could she not marry into a wealthy family? She's smart, unlike you. What can Isabelle do now? She doesn't even have a job, and her reputation is in tatters. What good can she have in the future?"

Beatrice's words were sharp, hurting Isabelle, who looked at her with red eyes and said, "Beatrice, am I still your granddaughter? How could you say I'm not as good as Pearl?"

After speaking, Isabelle ran out crying.

Olivia, seeing her run, felt worried and called out, "Isabelle!" Olivia then looked at Beatrice. "Mom, why would you say these things in front of Isabelle? Are you going to ruin our lives?"

"I say this to make you strive for something. Some things need to be fought for on your own. As long as you live well, you can do whatever you want!" Beatrice sipped her coffee, not worried at all that Isabelle might get into trouble.

Isabelle ran to the riverside, throwing stones into the water with force.

Everyone said she wasn't as good as Pearl. Why was that?

She was already grown up. Why did she have to be compared to her?

Pearl had always been excellent academically, beautiful, and likable. Everyone praised her for being sensible and pretty, while Isabelle was often criticized for not matching up. She had worked hard to get into a good school, and her teachers praised her for her achievements, but compared to Pearl, who went to a prestigious university, Isabelle felt inferior.

Now that Isabelle had graduated, everyone said Pearl had married into a wealthy family, while Isabelle struggled with a bad reputation and couldn't even find a job. Why was Pearl so lucky?

Isabelle felt like she was always living in Pearl's shadow. When would they praise Isabelle for her hard work, ambition, and beauty and acknowledge that she was living a better life than Pearl?

Wiping away her tears, Isabelle's expression turned cold. She was determined to show everyone that she was a hundred times better than Pearl!

After the banquet ended, people started to leave one by one, exchanging greetings as they departed.

"Oscar can hold his liquor and handles social situations well. He is kind to us. Pearl, you've truly found a good husband! We all like him!" The uncles expressed their approval of Oscar.

Men who drank well together could become like brothers, especially when they were happily tipsy. In their minds, Oscar was supposed to be aloof, but they were surprised to see how friendly and approachable he was, even enjoying drinks with them.

Pearl wasn't sure how to respond. She forced a smile and said, "I'll take Oscar home now. Goodbye."

"Alright!"

With a wave, they left.

Pearl breathed a sigh of relief as she finally saw off all the guests. She looked at Oscar, who was waiting for her, and went to support him, saying, "You've had quite a bit to drink."

Oscar replied, "I haven't had that much. Don't worry."

"Let's go back inside. You need to rest a bit," Pearl said, concerned about Oscar, who hadn't fully recovered and had consumed a lot of alcohol. Getting some extra sleep would do him good.

Oscar got up, and they went back inside together. The houses in the neighborhood were close together, filled with a sense of festivity. The room had been tidied up and was clean, but because it had been uninhabited for a while, it had a faint, musty smell.

Pearl opened the windows to let some fresh air in and took out some blankets from the cupboard. "If you're tired, lie down here for a while."

Oscar sat on the couch, closed his eyes, and exuded a hint of alcohol. Pearl noticed his silence, indicating he was tired.

She decided to tidy up everything to let him rest on the bed.

Oscar furrowed his brow, nodded, and said, "Got it."

Pearl stopped talking and went downstairs to the kitchen. There weren't many household items in the house, probably no hangover remedies either, so she had to go out.

At that moment, Isabelle was watching Pearl leave. She knew Oscar was upstairs, having drunk a lot with relatives and friends. It was a perfect opportunity.

With a slight smile, Isabelle, carrying the prepared hangover cure, walked upstairs.

Everyone knew that Pearl had married into a wealthy family and had a good husband, which led to a complete turnaround in their attitude toward her and her mother. They looked down on them and didn't care about them at all. If Pearl and Oscar's relationship were to break down, it wouldn't be so deep. If it weren't for them knowing about Pearl's marriage in advance, who else would know that Pearl was the young mistress of the family?

She shouldn't have been so happy. She was young, beautiful, and had more potential than Pearl. Apart from not being as educated as Pearl, what else did she lack compared to her?

Many men pursued her in school, praising her beauty and figure, saying she could even become a star in the future. She didn't believe Pearl could truly be happy. Which man wouldn't cheat?

Pearl's happiness was only superficial. If her marriage fell apart, it would turn into a joke. Isabelle had come with this purpose in mind.

The door wasn't closed, and Isabelle saw Oscar sitting on the couch with his eyes closed, showing only his profile. With a high nose bridge and handsome features, he was indeed very good-looking.

How could Pearl have nabbed herself such a wealthy and handsome man? He was more suitable for someone like Isabelle!

Isabelle walked in quietly, approaching Oscar, and her heart beat faster the closer she got.

Oscar heard the footsteps and, thinking it was Pearl, said, "Didn't you go out? Why are you back?"

"Oscar."

Hearing the voice, Oscar opened his eyes and saw Isabelle standing next to him. He furrowed his brow and asked coldly, "Why is it you?"

"Oscar, I brought you a hangover cure!" Isabelle had dressed up, wearing a backless dress that reached her knees. Her back was attractive, her legs long and fair, her curves clearly visible, and her smile as radiant as a flower.

Oscar looked at her and knew her intentions. His face darkened as he saw her holding the hangover cure.

Isabelle said gently, "I saw my brother-in-law drunk and was worried, so I brought the hangover cure from home for you."

With that, Isabelle bent down and placed the hangover cure on the table. This action caused her hair to fall loose, emitting a fragrance and revealing a hint of her chest. This was how she exuded her femininity.

She was younger than Pearl, just out of college, tender and green. Which man could resist such temptation?

Isabelle was pleased with herself, her lips curling, waiting for Oscar to take the bait.
