Chapter 551 Adrian

As soon as Louis dropped that bomb, he shot Jimena a look that could melt steel.

Jimena got the message loud and clear.

She grinned, "No worries. If I can help you out, the wedding's just a formality."

Louis gave her a gentle head pat and a forehead kiss.

Jimena's heart felt like a still pond with soft ripples.

They decided to tie the knot in a week.

First, they spread the good news, then sent out invites to friends and family.

RavenWing was caught off guard by Louis's quick move and couldn't help but rib him, "young man, when I had Pearl talk to you about this, you said you weren't into her. Look at you now."

Louis just laughed.

Yeah, it was a bit of a flip-flop, but it showed that nothing was set in stone.

RavenWing added, "If you were thinking about marriage, you should've done it with Pearl back then."

Now, RavenWing was used to calling her Pearl, leaving the name Carol in the dust.

To him, as long as Pearl was his daughter, her name didn't matter.

Besides, Haley had used that name for a while.

Pearl's memories were all tied up in Willow Creek.

So, as long as Pearl was happy, who she was didn't matter.

Louis said, "I know you don't wanna leave Willow Creek right now, but you gotta be at my wedding."

If RavenWing and Pearl didn't show, no one would buy it.

RavenWing replied, "Of course. I'll talk to Pearl, and we'll head out tonight."

There was no way he would miss Louis's wedding. Besides, having already missed Pearl's wedding, he couldn't afford to miss Louis's as well.

When Pearl got back, RavenWing filled her in. Pearl was all in and super happy. "That's awesome, true love wins!"

She'd seen Jimena's dedication to Louis. And Jimena was top-notch; she'd make the perfect wife for Louis.

"But what about Christopher? Doesn't he have school?" RavenWing asked.

He'd been taking care of Christopher's school runs and keeping tabs on his progress.

Christopher was talking more and had even made friends at school. If they went to the wedding, Christopher would have to skip a day.

Pearl laughed, "He's just in kindergarten. It's all play, no real learning. Plus, Louis is getting married. You think Christopher would wanna miss that?"

Louis was great with Christopher, and Jimena adored him. Now that they were getting hitched, Christopher would definitely wanna be there, probably as the ring bearer.

And when things got dicey in Serenea, Louis and Jimena had gone to help together, risking danger. Now that they were getting married, Pearl thought they had to be there for each other.

RavenWing smiled. "True that."

So, they all headed to Eldorians.

At the airport, Pearl bumped into Adrian. It had been five years since they'd last seen each other.

Adrian looked the same, rocking a black suit and standing tall.

When Adrian spotted her, a big smile spread across his face. "Pearl, it's been ages."

"Adrian, how've you been all these years?" Pearl asked.

Since they got back to Willow Creek, Adrian had gone back to the Egan family. She knew how he felt about her and all he'd done for her. Besides a few texts, they hadn't kept in touch, and Adrian never replied.

Pearl's words cut deep. How could he have been okay?

When he got home, his phone was taken away. In Eldorians, he was tortured, and his health went downhill.

His family kept him on a tight leash and made him recover. They even set him up with a wife, and he had a kid during that time.

He didn't dare reach out to Pearl, afraid he'd lose control. He felt he no longer had the right to be by her side.

Right now, it felt like an invisible hand was choking him. Pearl's words left him speechless.

Pearl sensed something was off. She wanted to say more, but Oscar walked over.

When Oscar saw Adrian, he greeted him, "Adrian, long time no see."

With Oscar there, Adrian had to respond, "Yeah, it's been a while."

Pearl's true love was Oscar. Now that Oscar was alive and well, standing by Pearl's side, Pearl would never leave him. It was all meant to be.

Adrian smiled and said, "I gotta go, got some stuff to do."

"Take care," Pearl said.

Pearl knew it was a polite lie and felt like Adrian was hiding something.

Oscar put his hand on Pearl's shoulder and comforted her, "Everyone's doing well now, so you can finally relax."

Otherwise, Pearl would always be worried.

Pearl pursed her lips and said softly, "Everyone seems fine. But I feel like Adrian isn't doing well."

Adrian had become distant, and most importantly, his eyes were filled with sorrow.

All these years, Adrian hadn't replied to her messages.

Busy with her work as a war correspondent, she hadn't paid much attention. It seemed she had missed a lot about Adrian.

Pearl thought for a moment and decided to chase after him.

When she saw Adrian, she asked, "Adrian, did you change your phone number?"

Adrian nodded. "Yeah."

No wonder he hadn't replied to her messages. But if he had changed it, Adrian would have told her. And now, Adrian seemed to have gone through a lot.

Pearl couldn't help but ask, "Adrian, why didn't you tell me when you changed your number? Did something happen?"

She never thought Adrian should always be with her, but they were friends.

Adrian not replying to a single message and his current demeanor were too unusual.

Adrian chuckled lightly, "I got married and had a kid, so I had to cut ties with some people and things from the past."

He had no way to contact her, and even though he wanted to give Pearl his number now, he couldn't!

He was no longer on equal footing with Pearl, and besides, Pearl had Oscar by her side.

As long as Pearl was happy, that was the best outcome.

"I see. As long as you're okay, I wish you all the best." Pearl understood, and now she could only wish Adrian well.
