Chapter 527 What Is the Reason
Otherwise, it’d always be others begging them, not the other way around.
Pearl leaned her forehead against Christopher's and croaked, "I'm sorry, Christopher. I'm back."
"It's not your fault, Mom," Christopher said slowly, his eyes lighting up like starlight.
He loved Pearl so much, he wished he could stay by her side forever. How could he blame Pearl?
And Oscar was back too.
Christopher reached out and wiped away Pearl's tears.
Pearl remembered the antidote and immediately turned to Oscar. "Quick, take it to Dad for testing, see if it's legit."
If it was, that’d be awesome.
If not, they hadn’t fallen for Charles's trick, and they hadn’t lost anything.
But they needed to hurry with Oscar's treatment.
Oscar nodded.
The next second, walking towards Pearl and Christopher, he hugged Pearl's shoulders and then kissed Christopher's forehead.
"Christopher, it will be fine. Dad will be back soon." Christopher nodded.
Oscar patted Pearl's shoulder again before leaving.
When Oscar handed over the antidote, RavenWing immediately took it for testing.
Not just him, but Jeffery was there too.
Luckily, it was indeed the antidote.
Upon hearing the good news, Oscar quickly took it.
At the same time, he rushed to find Pearl as fast as he could.
Jeffery stood there, looking lost.
RavenWing's low voice sounded in his ear. "What are you thinking?"
He had been watching Jeffery, thinking he would mess with the antidote, but he had done nothing.
How could Jeffery not get what RavenWing was hinting at?
He let out a bitter laugh and said, "I just want Pearl to be happy."
As long as Pearl was happy, everything else was secondary.
Pearl loved Oscar, so he could help Oscar again and again for Pearl's sake.
Seeing Pearl happy was enough for him.
Meanwhile, Giovanni approached Louis and said, "Mr. Mitchell, there's trouble in the West."
Louis's eyes darkened, and he immediately stood up and said, "Let's go."
By the time he arrived in the West, it was already chaos.
"Mr. Mitchell, what do we do now?" Giovanni asked, looking at Louis.
"Since there's a problem, let's deal with the troublemaker," Louis said with a ruthless glint in his eyes.
"Everyone, enjoy your meal. The good times are still ahead of us with me," Cole Chapman said, holding a bowl of wine, full of bravado.
There was a commotion below, and someone couldn't help but say, "Mr. Chapman, but I heard that guy named Louis is coming soon. Aren't you scared?"
Cole's eyes flashed with disdain at the words. "If he dares to come, I'll make sure he dies here. I'm just afraid he won't dare to show up."
Someone below echoed. "Yeah! Who does Louis think he is, anyway?"
Cole became even more arrogant with the crowd's flattery.
"You all talking about me so lively, guess I had to show up," Louis said, strolling in with a slight smirk.
Instantly, the room went dead silent.
Cole squinted, sobering up a bit. "Are you Louis?"
Louis didn't waste time with words; he fired the first shot, instantly enraging Cole. He immediately shouted, "What are you all standing around for? Kill him!"
But Louis and Giovanni moved so unpredictably that no one could figure out where they were.
Cole got more desperate, gritting his teeth and trying to catch sight of Louis, aiming his gun at him.
A hint of joy crossed his face; he was finally going to kill Louis.
Giovanni's pupils contracted. At that moment, a figure threw herself in front of Louis, and the bullet pierced her body, blood splattering.
Jimena's body went limp, and Louis quickly caught her. In the next instant, he shot Cole with lightning speed.
Jimena looked up at Louis, a hint of a smile in her eyes. Being able to lie in Louis's arms before dying, she felt content.
Louis grabbed her shoulders forcefully. "Jimena, you foolish woman! I won't allow you to die. Do you hear me? If you die, I won't remember your kindness, won't feel guilty, and won't miss you for the rest of my life! Don't even think about it!"
Louis hated owing anyone. He had made it clear to Jimena, but she didn't listen. Now, with Jimena lying in his arms, how could he explain to the Rios family if she died?
How could he repay Jimena's kindness?
Jimena gave a bitter smile, feeling weak all over.
But lying in Louis's arms, she felt incredibly warm and safe.
"Mr. Mitchell, I know, but I'm content."
With that, Jimena fainted in Louis's arms.
"Giovanni!" Louis shouted.
Giovanni immediately came to Louis's side.
Louis roared, "Take Jimena to the lab right now!"
"Yes!" Giovanni didn't dare delay.
Because of Jimena, RavenWing, who had been guarding Christopher, rushed back to the lab.
Even Jeffery was called over.
Louis demanded, "I don't care what you have to do, Jimena cannot die!"
He couldn't let Jimena die; he didn't want to owe her a life and didn't want to spend his life in remorse and guilt.
RavenWing gave Jeffery a look, and they entered the lab together without responding to Louis.
When RavenWing came out of the lab, Louis quickly walked up to him, urgently asking, "How is she?"
RavenWing had never seen Louis so anxious, even more anxious than when he wanted to kill Pearl.
RavenWing was very puzzled.
Louis always said he didn't love Jimena, wouldn't marry her.
Louis pressed his lips together, his face dark. "Don't look at me like that. I just don't want her to die because of me."
"Really?"
RavenWing didn't buy it; the reason was too flimsy.
Louis had reached his position with many loyal people and many who had sacrificed for him. It was strange that he was particularly anxious about Jimena.
"Louis, tell me. What made you give up on Jimena?"
