Chapter 308 Are You Really Willing to Abandon Us?

Pearl turned her head. "Is that Oscar?"

Sophia saw Pearl's shocked face. Pearl couldn't believe it, so she asked. Sophia, pale and angry, snapped, "That jerk! I thought Oscar was different, but all men are the same!"

While Sophia ranted, Pearl wasn't listening. She looked again.

Haley was holding Oscar's hand, and it seemed they were back together.

It felt like everything was back to square one.

Pearl stood there, frozen.

As they walked out, Haley said, "Oscar, thanks for the expensive bag."

A man giving a woman something she likes is always a joy.

Even Haley wasn't an exception.

"It's nothing, as long as you like it," Oscar said softly.

"As long as I like it, you'll get it for me, right?" Haley asked.

"Yes."

Haley said sweetly, "You're so good to me. I knew I was right about you. You're the best man for me. I'll wait for you to get divorced, wait..."

Before she could finish, they ran into Pearl.

Haley and Oscar stopped.

Haley looked at Pearl's disappointed face, a smile on her lips.

"What a coincidence, Pearl. Didn't expect to see you here." Haley clung to Oscar's arm, wanting Pearl to know Oscar was hers.

Pearl stared at Oscar.

Oscar's lips were tight, his face indifferent, showing no emotion, as if he had no intention of explaining.

Before Pearl could speak, Sophia said, "Oscar, Pearl is your wife. How can you buy a bag for Haley?"

"This must be Sophia, Hunter's granddaughter." Haley wasn't fazed by Sophia's accusations. "She's grown up so much now."

Sophia snapped, "Who I am is none of your business. You're the one wrecking families. There's something wrong with you!"

Haley laughed. "How can you say that? You probably don't know, but Oscar and Pearl have a contract marriage. They don't love each other. Their marriage term is only three years, and the time is up. They should pick a date to get divorced. By then, I'll marry into the Brown Family, and I'll be your sister-in-law!"

Hearing this, Sophia was even more upset, her face darkening. "Oscar loves Pearl. He won't love you! You must have threatened him!"

If it weren't for today, Sophia would never have believed Oscar was this kind of person.

Haley turned to Pearl. "Why don't you ask her? She knows better as the person involved!"

Sophia looked at Pearl's pale face. "You're the homewrecker!" she cursed Haley.

"Sophia!" Oscar said coldly. "Don't talk nonsense."

Sophia continued, "She's a homewrecker, and you won't let people say it. And you, Oscar, you're not the Oscar I liked anymore. You're just a jerk. You're hurting Pearl!"

Her eyes turned red.

Sophia felt sorry for Pearl.

She was still pregnant, yet she had to face this.

"Sophia." It took Pearl a while to react. She grabbed Sophia's hand and said, "You don't need to say anything."

She looked at Oscar and asked, "Is what Haley said true?"

Oscar's deep eyes were cold, staring at Pearl's face, but he stayed silent.

Pearl pressed on, "Are you with Haley? Tell me, is it true? I only believe you!"

Oscar stayed silent again.

Pearl's eyes started to well up, clinging to a shred of hope. "If you tell me it's not true, I can let it go. Even if I saw you with her, even if I saw her holding your hand, I would believe you had your reasons. I would believe you. But why won't you speak? Say something, give me a bit of hope."

The more she spoke, the more heartbroken she felt.

It was as if his proposal and his love were all her fantasies.

When she woke up from the dream, she still had to accept the reality that he didn't love her.

She truly felt happiness at that time.

The Oscar she had a crush on for years finally chose her. Her efforts over the years weren't in vain.

That's really what she thought.

But why did it change today?

Tears streamed down Pearl's face, and she felt a sense of despair.

Oscar clenched his fists, his hands trembling as he tried to control his emotions. He couldn't bear to see Pearl cry; even a single tear would break his heart.

He really didn't want to make her cry again.

Oscar looked into the distance, not focusing on her. After Pearl said so much, he forced himself to say coldly, "Pearl, let's get divorced."

After he spoke, Haley's lips curled into a smug smile.

She finally saw it!

They were finally getting divorced!

Pearl's heart sank, as if her soul had left her body. She stared at him blankly, thinking she had misheard, forcing a smile. "What did you say?"

"Let's get divorced," Oscar repeated with difficulty.

Pearl hadn't misheard.

Oscar wanted to divorce her.

The words she had once said were now coming from Oscar.

They had only been back together for a few days.

Pearl continued to laugh, mockingly saying, "Are you so hasty? Hasty in marriage, and in divorce. What did your proposal mean? You said you would love me forever, that I would be your wife for life. You made such a grand proposal, and everyone in Willow Creek knew. Now you're telling me to get divorced! Were all those things fake?"

"I'm compensating you," Oscar said briefly. "It's also to put an end to our three-year marriage."

This was the most ridiculous thing Pearl had ever heard.

He said love was compensation, the proposal was compensation. It was too ridiculous.

Pearl couldn't help but laugh out loud as she stared at him. "Oscar, when will you ever be reliable? Can you stop giving me hope and then making me despair? It's more painful than killing me. Do you know that I've loved you for more than three years? I've been chasing after you for all these years, but what have you done? You've given me nothing but hurt, endless hurt. How can you be so cruel? Can't you have a little compassion for me?"

How much more did she have to suffer?

"After the divorce, let's not see each other again," Oscar said in a deep voice. "You can hate me."

"How can you say such things!" Pearl was emotional, almost shouting. "Do you know I'm pregnant with your child?"
