Chapter 605 Daughter

The woman gave a sly smile and said, "I was gonna keep this under wraps for a bit, but since you figured it out, no point hiding it. Come on out."

Claire stepped out from another room, her eyes burning with hatred when she saw Pearl.

Upon seeing Claire, Pearl immediately understood the situation and flashed a smirk.

Claire lost it. "What are you grinning at? You're in our hands now. Scream all you want, no one's coming to save you."

Pearl looked like she didn't believe a word of it.

Claire, fuming, stormed over and grabbed her by the collar, lifting her up.

Pearl, worried about the baby, stood up with her strength and stared her down. "You're digging your own grave."

Claire glanced back at the woman and laughed. "Bringing you here wraps up my job. I'll take the cash and split, never to be seen again. No one will know it was me. No one can touch me."

The woman coughed lightly. "Enough! Move aside."

Claire let go of Pearl and stood next to the woman.

The woman crossed her legs, looking all smug. "Now, tell Oscar to transfer the Brown Group to me, or I'll toss you out of here. Worst case, I go to jail, but you'll be dead."

"You're threatening me." Pearl stayed calm. She had already tipped off Oscar and was sure he was on his way.

All she needed was to buy some time, and these folks would get what was coming to them.

Feeling triumphant, the woman picked up a wooden stick from the ground and walked over to Pearl. "So what?"

Pearl said, "Aren't you afraid your unborn child will hear?"

The woman's face changed at that.

Pearl knew she had her and kept going, "Judging by your pregnancy, the baby can already hear and sense things. They know everything you're doing. Aren't you really afraid..."

"Shut up." The woman snapped and swung the stick down. Pearl dodged but got hit on her right arm, crying out in pain.

The woman laughed, pointing the stick at her triumphantly. "Keep talking nonsense, and next time I might just aim for your belly."

"If you want the Brown Group, you better make sure my baby and I are safe. Otherwise, even if I die, you won't get away clean." Pearl gritted her teeth and glared at her, leaving her stunned.

Targeting her was one thing, but harming her child was a no-go.

After a bit, the woman sneered and handed her the phone. "Enough with the nonsense, make the call."

"No need, if you want to see me, just come to me directly. No need to mess with my wife." Oscar's voice came before he did. When he walked into the room, a dozen cops quickly followed and took control of the situation.

The woman, not willing to accept it, shouted at Oscar, "You took over the Brown Group unfairly. One day, you'll get what's coming to you."

Oscar walked over to Pearl and asked with concern, "Where did they hurt you?"

"They hit my hand and said if you didn't hand over the Brown Group, they'd throw me out of here," Pearl buried her head in his shoulder, crying. "I was so scared. If you had come a little later, I don't know if the baby and I would have made it."

"Officer, you know what to do. Don't show any mercy to a heartless woman like her," Oscar growled as this had clearly hit his breaking point.

Pearl and the baby were Oscar's everything. Anyone who messed with them was asking for trouble.

Claire tried to make one last desperate move but stopped cold when Oscar shot her a deadly glare.

After giving their statements at the police station, Oscar pinched Pearl's nose playfully and said, "You knew it was dangerous, so why did you go with them?"

Pearl snuggled into his arm, and Oscar rolled his eyes at her.

"I wanted to nip the problem in the bud. Alright, I won't do it next time," she said.

"It was really risky. Have you thought about what I would do then?" Before Oscar could finish, Pearl silenced him with a kiss. He was stunned for a moment, then hugged her tight and kissed her back.

Five months later, a sleek black car pulled up at the hospital entrance, and Oscar stepped out.

He walked to the back seat, opened the door, and helped Pearl out like a gentleman.

He carefully helped her out of the car and then cautiously supported her as they walked into the hospital.

Pearl's belly was huge, making it tough for her to walk. Even with help, it was still a struggle.

"Right on time, I've been waiting for you two for two hours," Quincy grumbled as soon as he saw them.

Oscar just smiled. "Sorry about that, something urgent came up."

"Was it really urgent, or were you stalling so Pearl wouldn't come for the check-up? Are you afraid of finding out the baby's gender?" Quincy said, with a hint of challenge in his tone.

Last night, Oscar had asked Quincy to check if Pearl was having a boy or a girl. Quincy had assumed Oscar preferred boys over girls.

Now that they were two hours late, it seemed to confirm this idea.

Oscar laughed. "That's not true. Am I that kind of timid person?"

Pearl, tired of standing, just wanted to get the check-up over with and go home to lie down, so she urged them to hurry up.

Quincy called a nurse to bring a wheelchair and pushed Pearl into the examination room.

After a tense wait, Quincy came out with a serious expression.

Oscar immediately asked, "How's the baby?"

"The baby is very healthy." Quincy internally rolled his eyes at Oscar for only caring about the baby and not Pearl.

"Boy or girl?" Oscar asked again.

"Girl. But medically, it's not allowed to inquire about the gender. I'm only telling you because of our friendship. You can't get me in trouble. This baby must be kept," Quincy warned him, not wanting any issues.

Oscar hugged him and spun him around.

RavenWing and Christopher arrived later and were confused by the scene. They asked in unison, "What happened?"

"It's a girl. I finally have a daughter." Oscar picked up Christopher and kissed him repeatedly.

RavenWing was stunned for a moment, then cheered, "A girl! I not only have a grandson but also a granddaughter. This is great."

"So, I have a sister now? I can share her my candies, yeah!" Christopher was already imagining taking his sister to the supermarket.
