Chapter 857 The Best Choice
Leaving was the best choice for her.
"But that was in the past. You can't stay away forever, Azalea. You're my only sister," Saskia's voice trembled with emotion.
Nathaniel, overhearing her on the phone, gently patted her shoulder and gave her a reassuring look.
Saskia hesitated, "Azalea, wait for me. I'm coming over right now. Even if you're leaving, you need to say goodbye to me in person."
With that, Saskia quickly ran out of the hospital room.
Inside, only Nathaniel, Jade, and Benjamin remained.
Benjamin also wanted to find Azalea, who had always been kind to him, but he couldn't complicate things at this critical moment.
Now that Saskia and Nathaniel were together, even though Azalea had shown up, she hadn't attended the wedding, and Saskia and Nathaniel were already married.
So, he believed Saskia would handle everything well.
Azalea wanted to take Heidi with her, and she was surely with Heidi now.
Saskia hurried over and saw Azalea.
Azalea smiled. Although she looked different from before, in that moment of her smile, Saskia saw a glimpse of the old Azalea.
"I didn't expect you to come. Isn't it a hassle for you? You have work and a child to take care of."
"I told you last time, I don't care about those things anymore."
Azalea smiled, feeling relieved.
Saskia felt a deep pain inside, "I know you said you don't care, but you're my sister. If you say you're leaving, how can I, as your sister, not show up?"
"I don't want you to leave. I want you to stay. You look so different now..."
Azalea had changed so much that if she didn't say anything, no one would recognize her as Azalea.
And now she had a job, Benjamin was doing well, and the money she earned could be saved. If Azalea stayed, Saskia could support her.
But if Azalea left, Saskia would worry every day about whether she was doing well or being mistreated.
Azalea hugged Saskia, "You're an educated woman, how can you be so old-fashioned? I'm in my twenties, in the prime of my life. How could I suffer? Besides, in this day and age, as long as you're not lazy, you won't starve."
That made sense, but how could Saskia be at ease with Azalea leaving."No, I can't let you leave alone, and you want to take Mom with you. There are many things I haven't asked Mom about, and you haven't told me either. I can't let you go. Azalea, please stay."
Saskia's thoughts were clear to Azalea, but Azalea had made up her mind and wouldn't stay. Otherwise, she would be the one suffering.
Azalea patted her shoulder, "I want to stay, but some things are difficult. I haven't given up yet. Even if no one recognizes me, I'm still Azalea. That won't change. Someone will eventually find out. I can't affect you."
"And you and Nathaniel have finally gotten together. Do you want to be separated from him?"
Saskia's breath caught. Of course, she didn't want to be separated from Nathaniel. But she also couldn't watch Azalea leave and live a hard life.
"Azalea, you..." Saskia was at a loss for words.
Azalea smiled, "I've let go. You're now the wife of a wealthy heir. Do you want the media to keep hounding you?"
Heidi and she were destined to live in the shadows.
Saskia understood Azalea's thoughts, but birth was something no one could control.
And she didn't mind Heidi, so she wouldn't mind Azalea either.
"Azalea..."
Saskia wanted to insist, but Azalea interrupted her, "Don't say any more, Saskia. Living well is more important than anything."
"Even if I don't leave now, I will eventually. You can take care of me for a year or two, but not forever."
"I just want some freedom and to take Mom with me. Saskia, I've made my decision. Let's not talk about this anymore."
"Okay."
Seeing Azalea's firm attitude, Saskia finally agreed.
She personally saw Azalea and Heidi off, "Make sure to let me know where you go. Call me once you're settled."
Azalea nodded.
But deep down, Azalea knew this was their last meeting. She wouldn't tell Saskia her address or call her.
Saskia had suffered so much, and Azalea had almost done something terrible. Saskia deserved happiness, and she should be very happy.
Three hours later, Saskia returned to the hospital. Even though she had composed herself, Nathaniel immediately sensed her low spirits.
He walked over, put his arm around her shoulder, and softly asked, "Azalea left, didn't she?"
Saskia nodded.
No matter how much she tried to persuade her, Azalea had no intention of staying.
Nathaniel patted her shoulder, "Once Azalea lets go and understands, she'll come back. Keep in touch. You should take Benjamin home; I'll stay here."
"Take Benjamin home. You still have work to do. I'll stay and take care of Mom," Saskia suggested, knowing Nathaniel had work to handle.
Besides, she had promised to stay and take care of her mom. If she left, she would be breaking her word.
"Alright, I'll have my assistant take Benjamin home and the nanny look after him. I'll stay here with you to take care of Mom." Nathaniel understood Saskia's thoughts but couldn't leave her alone.
Saskia worried about Benjamin, "Can Benjamin be okay alone at home? Nathaniel, I know what you're thinking, but Mom and I need to spend time alone. And Mom isn't stopping us anymore, so what are you afraid of?"
"Dad's there."
Although there had been some unpleasant incidents, Benjamin was still Robbie's grandson. As his son, could there be any lasting grudges in the family?
Saskia thought of Robbie. Robbie taking care of Benjamin made her uneasy, "Nathaniel, you should go home to check on Benjamin. I'll be fine here."
"I'll stay..."
Before Nathaniel could finish, Saskia interrupted, "What if Mom needs to use the bathroom? I didn't plan on hiring a nurse."
Nathaniel realized the issue.
But leaving Saskia alone wasn't right either.
