Chapter 481 Do You Know Something?

Harold was visibly anxious. "You'd better go back to your room; I'll handle her."

Hathaway never liked Pearl. With Oscar gone, Harold, as Oscar's confidant, couldn't let Pearl face any trouble.

Pearl waved him off. "No need, I'll handle it myself."

Harold could help once, but not always.

Pearl patted Harold's shoulder and headed downstairs to meet Hathaway.

Hathaway stood in the living room, looking elegant but hostile.

"Pearl, how dare you come back?"

Hathaway stormed towards Pearl, her heels clicking sharply. Before she could strike, Pearl grabbed her wrist and pushed her away.

Hathaway staggered, almost falling. "Pearl, how dare you touch me?"

Pearl's eyes were steely. "If you have something to say, say it."

She was here to handle things, not to be mistreated.

"Pearl, where do you get the nerve to act so righteous?" Hathaway's eyes blazed. "Oscar died because of you!"

Oscar's name was a sharp blade to Pearl's heart. His death was her deepest pain.

"Did you come here just to tell me this? Didn't you see the military's obituary?"

Hathaway might not believe others, but she should believe the military.

Oscar died in the line of duty.

Pearl stepped closer to Hathaway. "Either leave, or I'll have you thrown out. Are you really here just to blame me for Oscar?"

Hathaway was always close to Haley. Pearl had suspected a different relationship between them but never confirmed it. Now, seeing Hathaway's demeanor, her suspicions were confirmed.

Haley and Hathaway were mother and daughter.

With Pearl back, Hathaway might team up with Kevin. She needed Harold to prepare.

Hathaway's breath tightened, scared by Pearl's tone and expression.

Did Pearl know about her relationship with Haley?

It was clear she did. Oscar must have told her everything and transferred his assets to her.

"So what if you know? Pearl, you can't threaten me. The things Oscar gave you don't count. You'd better return them all to me!"

Malice flashed in Hathaway's eyes. She was declaring war. She wanted back everything Oscar had given Pearl.

Otherwise, why send Haley away and stay in the Brown family all these years?

Pearl smirked. "I already had shares before. Now, I'm the largest shareholder of the Brown Group. You have no say here. Someone, see her out!"

Several servants stepped forward at her command.

Hathaway knew she couldn't fight them all, so she left, but not before giving Pearl a venomous look.

From now on, it was either her or Pearl.

After Hathaway left, Pearl heard footsteps behind her. She spoke sternly, "Harold, assign some people to stay by my side. Also, schedule a high-level meeting at the Brown Group in a few days."

Before Oscar left, he transferred all his assets to her, and she had been away for a long time.

Now that news of Oscar's death had spread, and given Hathaway's recent actions, Hathaway would surely unite with other shareholders to target her and cause trouble.

She had no interest in these assets, but she couldn't let them fall into Hathaway's hands.

"Yes, Ms. Harris. The pasta has gotten a bit cold, and you haven't taken a bite. Should I have the servants prepare a fresh bowl for you?" Harold asked respectfully.

Pearl shook her head.

"Get some rest," she instructed before heading upstairs.

Watching her leave, Harold sighed deeply.

Pearl's distant figure was deeply imprinted in Jeffery and Barbara's eyes.

After a moment of silence, Barbara asked softly, "What are you planning?"

Jeffery replied, "Her safety is my top priority. Are you sure Carol's child isn't dead?"

He called her Pearl in front of her, but to everyone else, she was always his Carol.

Barbara took a deep breath. "I'm just speculating. In her current state, if she didn't have something to hold onto, she wouldn't survive. You should know this better than I do."

Jeffery remained silent.

This child would always be a part of Pearl, a belief that kept her going.

At the same time, Pearl would eventually have a new life over the long years.

However, this child would always be her lifelong regret.

Jeffery pursed his lips and asked hoarsely, "What do you think about Oscar's death?"

Barbara was stunned for a moment, then quickly said, "The dead can't come back to life. While we should hold onto hope, we must also accept reality."

Kevin's alliance had deliberately incited this war with Tranquiloria.

As the core of the main force, Oscar was naturally a key target.

And that river, known for its treacherousness, Oscar was severely injured and fell in. Unless someone rescued him immediately, it was impossible for him to survive after so many days.

Though she didn't want to believe Oscar was dead and hoped for a good life for him and Pearl, one had to face reality.

Suddenly, Barbara turned to look at Jeffery, her brows furrowed. "Are you implying you know something?"
