Chapter 782 What Do You Think You Are
Nathaniel sat there quietly, sipping his drink.
James was about to say something, but Oscar shot him a look that made him shut up real quick.
Nathaniel had quite a few drinks, and eventually, Oscar and Harold were the first to leave. Quincy, swamped with work, hurried out too. It was just James and Nathaniel left in the private room.
James gave Nathaniel a pat on the shoulder. "Look, if you can't forget, then just accept it. You can't force love. As long as it feels right to you, that's what matters. You're building a life with her; does her past really matter?"
When it came down to it, Nathaniel was Saskia's first.
But every guy has his own principles and boundaries.
What really bugged Nathaniel was Saskia's abandonment and betrayal.
Nathaniel didn't want to talk about Saskia anymore. He said, "I'll cover the bill. You keep having fun. I need to head home."
With that, he got up and walked out.
James noticed Nathaniel's mood and expression.
A guy dealing with so many emotions had to find his own way to cope.
James naturally didn't follow.
But Nathaniel didn't expect to run into Saskia as soon as he stepped outside.
He'd never forget Saskia's face.
What was Saskia doing here?
Nathaniel strode forward.
Saskia saw him coming and instinctively stepped back.
Nathaniel grabbed her hand. "What are you doing here?"
Saskia, wearing a cleaning uniform, knew Nathaniel had misunderstood her again. She didn't want to be wrongfully accused.
She lowered her head and explained, "Nathaniel, don't get the wrong idea. I'm not following you. I work here."
Nathaniel didn't say anything.
Saskia had once been a top law student. If she hadn't left, she'd be a successful lawyer by now.
But now, Saskia was doing all sorts of odd jobs.
For Saskia, as long as she got paid, she was willing to do anything.
Nathaniel frowned. "Didn't you take fifty million dollars from my mom? How did you end up like this?"
Fifty million dollars was a lot.
But it had been four years. Saskia used that money to pay off her father's debts, put Azalea through school, and cover Benjamin's premature birth and time in the incubator.
The money was long gone.
Saskia didn't want to relive the painful past.
She replied, "Nathaniel, how much I took and how I spent it is my business, not yours."
Saskia tried to leave, but Nathaniel wouldn't let her.
He blocked her path. "Saskia, do you think you can just walk away?"
Nathaniel, standing nearly 6'3", loomed over her like a mountain.
Saskia knew she couldn't leave, but she didn't want any more entanglements with Nathaniel.
Saskia pressed her lips together. "Azalea knows about us. Nathaniel, she's carrying your child, and you're engaged. Please treat her well."
Nathaniel hadn't expected Azalea to know about him and Saskia.
Once she knew, it was no longer fun.
"So, you're not afraid anymore?" With that, Nathaniel tightened his grip on Saskia.
His grip was strong, and Saskia couldn't break free.Saskia glared at him, her eyes blazing. "Nathaniel, I'm the one you hate. I'm the one who wronged you, not Azalea. She's pregnant with your child. Can't you be responsible for her?"
She tried to break free, but it was useless.
Nathaniel watched her struggle, seeing only anger and defiance.
Herschel had told him Saskia had the recording.
Even Jade said it was Saskia.
Yet, Saskia hadn't used it to blackmail Nathaniel.
Nathaniel was curious about her intentions. He remarked, "Saskia, what's your game? You risked so much to get that recording, but now you're just telling me to be good to Azalea? Are you really that noble?"
Nathaniel's cold eyes seemed like they wanted to tear Saskia to shreds.
Saskia hadn't expected Nathaniel to know the truth.
But so what if he did?
Saskia had done it willingly. She wouldn't use it to blackmail Nathaniel.
She responded, "Azalea is carrying your child, and you're engaged. Nathaniel, be responsible. Azalea really likes you."
Nathaniel laughed at her words. "Be responsible? Saskia, what right do you have to lecture me? Were you responsible to me back then?"
Hearing this, Saskia felt a sharp pain in her chest.
Who would willingly give up the person they loved most if they had a choice?
Saskia's lips twisted into a bitter smile. She said, "Nathaniel, that's all behind us. Why bring it up now? You can't still be hung up on me, can you?"
Saskia knew Nathaniel hated her deeply.
She didn't blame him for hating her after what she did.
But now that Azalea was involved and pregnant, he had to be responsible.
Nathaniel's hatred for Saskia only intensified with her words, fueling his anger further.
He grabbed Saskia by the throat.
He exclaimed, "I'd rather kill you. What delusions are you having, Saskia?"
Nathaniel's furious expression was unmistakable to Saskia.
A bitter smile crossed her lips.
She remembered how Nathaniel once loved her, and now she faced the reality that he wanted to harm her.
In that moment, she felt worse than Nathaniel did.
But what could she do?
"Nathaniel, if you have the guts, kill me. Otherwise, as long as I'm alive, I'll make sure you take responsibility for Azalea. You can't just walk away from this!" Saskia said with difficulty.
Yet Nathaniel didn't take her words seriously.
To be precise, he didn't take Saskia seriously.
He retorted, "Who do you think you are to say these things to me?"
Saskia felt terrible, but what could she do?
She couldn't stop Nathaniel or make him stop hating her.
She couldn't even bring herself to hug Nathaniel.
Saskia smiled sadly. "I'm nobody. But if you don't take responsibility, I'll sue you. Azalea is innocent!"
Saskia always spoke up for Azalea, and Azalea always helped Saskia first.
They were truly close sisters.
But were they still close now?
Nathaniel sneered. "You care so much about Azalea. Does she care about you? Didn't you say she knows about us? Doesn't she hate you?"
How could Azalea not hate Saskia?
She hadn't come back or contacted Saskia.
