Chapter 447 Eerie

Giovanni walked away without looking back. On his way, he suddenly felt unwell and started coughing violently, tasting blood in his throat.

Giovanni's eyes darkened. He hadn't expected Oscar to injure him. Giovanni and Louis had been training together for years, and almost no one could match him.

If Louis and Pearl had been a minute or two later, Oscar would have defeated him. Oscar was formidable. If he wasn't from Tranquiloria and had more ambition, he could have been a king.

Giovanni was relieved Oscar's target was Pearl.

After Giovanni left, Oscar and Pearl were alone. Oscar nodded at Pearl, saying, "I'll teach you."

Pearl wanted to find Louis, but Giovanni wouldn't take her. She had a black card but didn't know where Louis lived.

Seeing her hesitate, Oscar walked over. "Don't worry, I won't let them hurt you."

Oscar's eyes showed determination. He was serious. Even if he died, he wouldn't let anything happen to Pearl.

Pearl, her thoughts interrupted, responded hoarsely, "I understand."

Oscar held her hand gently, "Like this, lightly hook here. Don't use force. But if you meet a bad person, use all your strength, got it?"

"I understand," Pearl nodded.

They stayed there quietly, supporting each other with their eyes.

The next day, Giovanni came to get them in the afternoon, looking worse than before, pale and weak.

"You only have one day today."

One day! They needed to find Barbara and Adrian. The slave camp was divided into four zones. Even if they split up, they couldn't search the entire place in one day.

This was clearly a challenge, but it was an opportunity. If they didn't take it, there'd be no hope of finding Barbara and Adrian.

Pearl looked at Oscar. With just a glance, they understood everything.

Pearl went to find Barbara, and Oscar went to find Adrian.

Pearl didn't find Barbara even with a loudspeaker. She realized Barbara's memory might have been erased.

In a camp with thousands of women, finding Barbara was tough.

She found Giulia and said, "Giulia, I need to find someone. She looks like..."

Giulia interrupted, "Don't describe her. I handle many slaves every day. I can't remember everyone."

People here were less valuable than objects. Pearl wasn't discouraged. She had one day, so she would go through them one by one.

But she still had no luck.

"Giulia, is everyone here?" Pearl asked again.

Giulia, impatient, replied, "Do I need to line up the injured for you? Or dig up the dead?"

Pearl had been opposing her since she arrived, and now she wanted to order her around.

If it weren't for Louis and Giovanni, Pearl wouldn't even have the chance to stand in front of Giulia and speak.

Pearl pressed her lips together, looking serious. "Giulia, please take me to see the injured."

Giulia was furious but had to comply.

As soon as Pearl reached the entrance of the injured camp, the overwhelming smell of blood and stench hit her. She started retching but quickly composed herself and walked in.

The place was worse than the slave camp, full of people with severed limbs, missing ears, and gouged-out eyes. It was inhumane.

Many faces were obscured by bloodstains. As she walked further, she saw people crammed into barrels and iron cages. Centipedes and venomous snakes crawled around, making her scalp tingle.

"Barbara?" Pearl called out, but there was no response. She checked one by one but still didn't see Barbara. Despair set in.

Barbara had been captured by RavenWing's men while trying to protect her. If she wasn't here, had she been killed?

Pearl's breathing became rapid, and she suddenly couldn't catch her breath, swaying unsteadily. As she was about to fall, someone caught her. "Watch out!"

A hoarse female voice sounded in her ear. It was Barbara! But Barbara's eyes showed unfamiliarity. She didn't recognize Pearl. Pearl grabbed Barbara's hand and said to Giulia, "I want to take her away."

Since Pearl was allowed to come here to find someone, taking someone away should be easy, right?

Giulia quickly waved her hand. "Take her away quickly." It would save her from being bothered by Pearl again.

Just as Pearl took Barbara away, Jorge arrived. He inspected the injured camp and didn't see Barbara. He ordered Giulia, "Where's Barbara?"

"Which one?" Giulia didn't remember.

Jorge kicked her. "If you're so incompetent, why are you in charge? If you can't do the job, let someone else do it."

"Pearl took a slave, likely Barbara."

Jorge didn't want to hear the rest. He found out that Pearl, along with Giovanni and Lorenzo, were searching the slave camp extensively.

Barbara had already been taken away. Who would they look for next?

Jorge continued to follow up, and Davide reported everything to RavenWing.

Oscar found Adrian in the male slave camp. Both Pearl and Oscar realized things were going too smoothly, almost unnaturally so.

As Oscar led Adrian to meet up with Pearl, he secretly sent a distress signal, usually requiring three presses. This time, he pressed it five times.

Oscar thought they would be taken back to the small room, but Giovanni took them to Louis.

Pearl clenched her fists. Before she could find Louis, he came to her.

Louis gave Giovanni a look, and Giovanni went to take Oscar. Giovanni had already been seriously injured by Oscar, and now Oscar struck again, knocking Giovanni to the ground.

Seeing this, Louis's eyes darkened immediately.
