Chapter 360 Don't Tell Pearl
He didn't dare to gamble.
Even if it meant betting Haley's life, he was scared Kevin wouldn't believe him.
Hearing his words, Pearl felt heartbroken.
Their long cold fight had left her to face everything alone.
She had been through so much.
Even though she pretended not to care and acted strong, in love, she was always vulnerable.
When she heard those words again, Pearl's eyes filled with tears, which fell from her eyes unintentionally.
Her grievances and sadness poured out like a waterfall.
Oscar saw her trembling shoulders and knew she was very upset. He immediately walked over and held her.
"I'm sorry," he said softly. "I've made you suffer."
He knew how hard it had been for her.
She was pregnant, but her husband wasn't by her side; he had already caused her enough pain, which made him feel very guilty.
But compared to her life, this was all he could do.
Love could compensate, but life was irreplaceable.
Pearl leaned into his arms, still crying, and hit him repeatedly. "Why can't you face it with me? Is it better for you to bear it alone? Aren't we a couple? Do you know what being a couple means? We can overcome difficulties together, but you left me. You may be a hero, but I can't accept it!"
Oscar let her hit him, his eyes full of affection and tenderness.
Even if Pearl stabbed him with a knife full of hatred right now, he could still smile.
He held her tightly, loving her deeply. "I know I was wrong, but I really don't want you to suffer even a little bit. Even if it costs my life, I want you to suffer less. Do you understand? You hating me is better than you facing death alone. Pearl, I will make sure you live!"
Protecting her in his own way was his belief.
He knew the poison she had would cause her great pain, and he was very grateful for Jeffery's help.
He owed Jeffery.
Even though he knew Jeffery was willing to help Pearl, Oscar still had selfish motives. He wanted to protect Pearl and couldn't care about anyone else's life.
Pearl cried out all the grievances she had endured over the past few months.
She had been suppressing her emotions for too long, and they finally broke down.
After a while, she felt better.
Pearl didn't say she forgave him, but at this moment, they had a common goal.
Oscar and Pearl got into the car and left the place.
Oscar said, "I need to go to the police station. You're pregnant. Why don't you go home and rest first?"
"Can't I go with you?" Pearl asked.
Oscar looked at her and thought for a moment. "You can, but you'll have to sit and rest while I finish my work, and then we'll go home together."
"Okay." Pearl finally smiled at him.
Oscar gently stroked Pearl's hair before pulling her into his embrace once more.
But his brows were tightly furrowed, feeling the abnormal reactions in his body.
He forced himself to endure the discomfort, not wanting Pearl to notice.
When they arrived at the police station, Pearl got out of the car but didn't walk with Oscar. To avoid interfering with his work, she obediently waited in the lounge.
But from the window, she saw Jeffery walking over and then heading in another direction with Oscar.
She sat on the sofa and calmed down.
Once out of Pearl's sight, Oscar leaned against the wall with one hand, breathing heavily, the ringing in his ears constantly disturbing him.
Jeffery was talking to Oscar. Initially, they were walking side by side, but it turned into Jeffery walking alone.
He stopped and looked back at Oscar who was acting weird.
His expression turned serious as he grabbed Oscar's arm. "You didn't get the antidote, did you?"
Oscar clenched his fists, suppressing the force within him, and said hoarsely, "Don't tell Pearl."
