Chapter 927 Is What You Said True
Those were her painstakingly written notes, and now they were ruined just like that?
"I don't have any beef with you. Why'd you do this?" Lyra's gut told her there was more to this.
Under Lyra's intense gaze, the nurse finally spilled everything Irene had instructed her to do.
.
Lyra felt angry. Did rich people always throw money around like this?
Just for a seat, she spent money to ruin her work.
Lyra wanted to find someone to talk to, but it was pointless. Her notes were unique, and there was no second copy. However, she still needed to give Irene a piece of her mind.
Finding Irene was easy. After all, Irene wasn't trying to hide. She wanted to see Lyra's reaction to her hard work being destroyed.
Seeing Irene's smug expression, Lyra picked up a glass of water and splashed it on her.
"Ah!"
The scream pierced the air, instantly drawing a crowd.
These were people here for the lecture, some admiring Jeffery, some here to learn, and some notable figures in the industry.
Jeffery heard the commotion and immediately looked over.
He didn't expect Lyra to be the center of it.
Irene, now furious and embarrassed, was about to lunge at Lyra when Jeffery strode over and shielded Lyra. "What happened?"
Jeffery asked Lyra, who was in his arms.
Before Lyra could say anything, Irene pointed at her and started yelling, "Who knows what this lunatic is thinking? She just splashed water on me without a word."
Irene was much more restrained in front of Jeffery.
She had never met a man who made her heart race like Jeffery did.
She had come to this lecture just to see Jeffery.
But Lyra had taken the best seat and was unyielding. And now, Jeffery was protecting Lyra, making it clear to everyone that there was something between them.
Lyra, thinking about her ruined notes, was furious. "You only mentioned me splashing you. Why don't you say why I did it?"
"You wanted my seat and offered me $200,000 to give it up. When I refused, you hired someone to ruin my notes. My notes may not be worth much, but your actions are despicable!"
Lyra was never one to back down easily. Flora's death and Aaron's disability had been a heavy burden on her heart.
That's why the Hill family had been able to manipulate her for years.
But everyone has their breaking point.
She just wanted to live for herself for once.
If Irene wanted to cause trouble, she would fight back!
"You're lying!"
Irene's expression changed, and she denied everything.
Lyra smirked coldly, "Am I lying? Let's check the security footage."
In such a large place, there had to be security cameras. Even Jeffery agreed, "Let's check the footage."
"No!" Irene immediately objected.
Lyra's lips curled into a cold smile, "Why not? Are you feeling guilty?"
"Irene."
A voice called out from a distance, and Lyra saw a man in a black suit, wearing a hat and mask, walking over.
But those white eyelashes and eyes, Lyra recognized him immediately. It was her albino patient, Gregory!
Gregory hadn't expected to see Jeffery and Lyra here.
"It's you," Gregory exclaimed in surprise.
Jeffery recognized him too and said calmly, "Control your people and apologize."
Before Gregory could speak, Irene apologized to Lyra in front of everyone, "I'm sorry. I was too impulsive. Please forgive me."
Lyra didn't expect Irene to apologize so quickly.
Gregory was also surprised that the usually arrogant Irene would apologize so fast.
"I forgive you, but that doesn't mean others will. You should change your attitude and stop being so arrogant!"
With that, Lyra turned and walked away.
Gregory might be her patient, but it was Irene who had wronged her. And it wasn't work hours, so she didn't want to deal with them any longer.
To her surprise, Jeffery followed her.
"Mr. Gray, thank you for earlier."
Lyra turned and said gently when she saw him following.
Jeffery frowned, "Why are you thanking me? I didn't do anything."
"You stood up for me. It's just a shame my notes are gone. I listened so carefully and had great plans for the future."
Her notes were gone, and she was both angry and frustrated, but there was nothing she could do now.
Seeing Lyra's troubled expression, Jeffery had a good idea why she was upset.
"Notes can be rewritten. If you forget anything, you can message me. Or come to my place, and I'll give you a private lesson."
Lyra looked up in disbelief, "Mr. Gray, are you serious?"
"When have I ever lied? You're studying and living well now. As long as you don't cause trouble, it's all good."
Jeffery felt that Lyra was resilient yet fragile, and in some ways, she reminded him of his past self.
If it hadn't been for Pearl, he might still be trapped in that slave camp.
Because of Pearl, he had done many good deeds afterward.
Looking at Jeffery, Lyra suddenly thought he had never looked so handsome and outstanding.
She suddenly wanted to ask: Can you be my boyfriend?
As this thought crossed her mind, Lyra was shocked. How could she think that about Jeffery? She must be crazy!
"Let's head back to the hospital. Since you've already started working here, stop calling me Mr. Gray."
"What should I call you then?"
Lyra realized she was so used to calling him Mr. Gray that other names felt awkward.
"Just call me Jeffery," he said calmly.
"That doesn't seem right. There's still a difference in our positions."
Jeffery smiled, "You're not an employee of my hospital. What difference does it make?"
