Chapter 336 Is That Really What You Think?

"What?" Pearl yanked her hand away, stepping back. "What are you talking about? You want me to end the pregnancy now? I can't do that!"

Oscar's eyes were stern. "Your body can't handle a pregnancy right now. If you end it, you'll save your strength and live longer. You need to survive first, understand?"

He was desperate to save her, whose life was his priority.

There would be other chances for a child.

Pearl couldn't process it.

The moment he mentioned ending the pregnancy, she just wanted to get away.

She was completely irrational.

Ignoring Oscar, she walked off.

"Pearl!" Oscar called sharply.

She turned and shouted, "Didn't the doctor say I could hold on until the baby is born? Isn't that enough?"

"Are you crazy?" Oscar shot back. "What happens after the baby is born?"

Pearl's eyes widened. "If I end the pregnancy, will I survive?"

Oscar just wanted her to live. "We'll have other chances!"

Pearl saw in his eyes that he didn't want this child.

This made her even more determined to protect the baby.

Oscar's fists clenched. He had become her nightmare.

She shook her head. "I don't believe you. You're lying!"

"Pearl!" Oscar stepped closer. "I'll find a way. Trust me. If you end the pregnancy, you won't suffer anymore!"

He knew her pain.

Since the bruises appeared, her days had been agony.

He didn't want her to suffer.

"Don't come closer!" Pearl's eyes were red with disappointment. "How can you say that!"

"This is your child too!" she gritted her teeth. "How can you be so irresponsible? The child is my only hope. I won't let you hurt him!"

"Pearl." Oscar was torn. He wanted her to live, even if it meant losing the child. "Listen to me."

"Don't come closer!" Pearl was emotional and irrational.

As a mother, she instinctively wanted to protect her child.

The baby moved inside her.

The first time she felt him move, she was overjoyed.

She longed for his arrival and couldn't bear to lose him.

If she ended the pregnancy, she would die too, losing everything.

She couldn't take that risk.

Pearl couldn't harden her heart.

Seeing Oscar still wanted to end the pregnancy, she took drastic action.

"Don't come closer, or I'll jump. If the baby dies, I'll die too!" Pearl stood by the window, no railing. If Oscar moved closer, she would jump, using her life as a threat.

Oscar froze, eyes tense.

"Okay, I won't come closer. Don't do anything foolish!" he said.

Pearl didn't move.

She told Oscar, "As long as the baby is healthy, that's all that matters. I won't regret it!"

It was her only hope and belief.

She knew if the baby was gone, she was close to death.

Everything would be meaningless.

Her poison was incurable, making it even more hopeless.

She didn't want to regret it again.

She steadied herself and said softly, "Oscar, I don't ask you to love him, but please don't hurt him. That's my last wish."

Seeing the determination in Pearl's eyes, Oscar's heart broke.

He couldn't bear to think of the worst-case scenario.

His fists clenched, hands trembling, lips pressed together, struggling inside.

Oscar wished she didn't have to suffer so much.

"Have you made up your mind?" he finally asked softly.

"I have."

Oscar relented. He stopped insisting on ending the pregnancy.

Pearl had threatened him with her life; what else could he do?

He wanted her to be safe and happy.

Seeing the sadness and worry on Oscar's face, Pearl smiled. "Don't think I'm so fragile. I'm stronger than you think. Don't worry, I'll be fine. I will!"

Oscar's eyes stayed on her, saying nothing, but his heart ached more than anyone else's.

He knew Pearl wanted to show him she could live well without him.

To let him be at ease, they both needed to live well.

Her strength made him ache, but Oscar had to act like he didn't care as much.

At that moment, it felt like they both found some closure.

Oscar wanted to take her home, but Pearl refused, as Janetta was waiting for her.

This time, Oscar didn't insist.

He had more important things to do.

After parting with Pearl, Oscar went straight to the set.

Haley had just finished work.

The crew looked at her with envy. "Haley, Oscar came to pick you up."

Haley beamed. "You should find a boyfriend too. Someone to pick you up every day!"

"But I'm not you. I can't find a handsome, rich guy like Mr. Brown. You have a great career and love life. You're truly blessed!"

"Thank you!" Haley said, loving the praise.

Her career was great, and she had the best man.

She had it all.

This was Haley's best life.

She quickly walked to Oscar's car.

Haley opened the door and saw Oscar inside. She playfully said, "I called you so many times. Why didn't you answer? You made me worry."

"About what?" Oscar asked.

Haley got in and said, "I was worried you didn't want me anymore."

Oscar turned to her and smiled. "How could that be? Are you suddenly lacking confidence?"

Haley snuggled into his arms. "I love you so much that I feel insecure. If I didn't love you so much, I wouldn't always want to know where you are!"

"I went to see Pearl."

Haley's expression changed.

Pearl had ruined her good mood again.

But Oscar continued, "I told her to end the pregnancy. She refused and even threatened to die. She's such a foolish woman."

"Why did you suddenly have this idea?" Haley asked tentatively.

Oscar said coldly, "You wouldn't be generous enough to marry me while I still have another child, right? Ending the pregnancy is the best choice."

Haley was delighted. "Is that really what you think?"
