Chapter 182 The Rising Star

"Sophia, thank you so much. I didn't expect you to be so kind to me," The other person said gratefully. "I'm sorry for any trouble it caused you."

Sophia replied, "You don't need to thank me. If someone bullies you, it's like they're bullying me. Of course, I have to help you."

"I was just complaining about her to you, and you took it seriously. I really appreciate how you support me. I'm grateful to have a friend like you," the other person said emotionally.

Sophia had always been like this.

She was always sincere with her friends.

Sophia had never experienced much hardship.

She had never encountered the malice of people.

When she heard that her friend was being bullied, Sophia immediately wanted to stand up for her.

Even though it caused Sophia some trouble in the end.

Sophia did not regret it.

Next time, Sophia would do the same.

The other person continued, "I don't know if you are available recently, but I'd like to treat you to a meal to thank you properly."

"Sure," Sophia said, lying on her bed. "Anytime you're free. But there's no need to thank me; we're friends, and friends should help each other."

They had a chat on the phone for quite a while.

The other person said a lot of bad things in front of Sophia.

It made Sophia very angry.

People shouldn't be that bad.

After hanging up the phone, Sophia was too angry to sleep.

When Pearl got home, she removed her makeup, took a shower, and put the dress back in the closet.

Pearl quite liked the dress.

Even though dresses like that are usually worn only once, Pearl thought it wouldn't matter if she wore it again next time.

Oscar wasn't in the bedroom. She opened the door and saw him outside on the phone, seemingly having been talking for a while.

He noticed her opening the door and put down his phone, saying, "If you're tired, have some sleep."

Pearl felt she understood him better today. "Okay."

She was about to close the door when she suddenly heard the name "Haley " mentioned.

At this moment, it was quite unsettling.

It also made Pearl calm down.

There was always an unbridgeable gap between Oscar and Haley.

Pearl turned off her phone and went to sleep without thinking too much.

The next day, when Pearl went to the office, she heard people discussing something enthusiastically.

Some were complaining, while others were congratulating.

Pearl was curious about what they were discussing and overheard some sentences.

Sitting at her computer, she didn't need them to say anything; the building across the street had already told her.

The building across the street was about the same height as the Brown Group's, with a huge poster on the wall featuring an advertisement endorsed by Haley.

Pearl didn't want to overthink and rarely paid attention to Haley's affairs.

Even if Haley sought out Pearl or provoked her, Pearl would just ignore it.

After all, in the end, Haley would be Mrs. Brown.

Pearl seemed to see Haley everywhere.

The advertisement endorsed by Haley hanging there indicated that she had already made a significant impact in the entertainment industry.

Pearl smiled, not knowing what she was smiling about. Maybe she felt that Haley had gotten what she wanted.

Even if Haley couldn't sing, she could become an actress.

For Haley, she was already a perfect match for Oscar.

Haley was now an influential person.

"We really have to congratulate Mr. Brown. He has a good eye for talent. Even though it's Haley's first movie, she picked the right director, and it became a hit!"

"It's really hard for an actress to become famous nowadays, but Haley has the talent. I heard she did all her own stunts. She looks fragile, but she overcame such challenges.!"

"I watched the behind-the-scenes footage. She really didn't use a stunt double. Her action scenes were so fluid. It's no wonder she's become so popular!"

"Did you see? Haley is famous now, and the stock market hit the limit up today," Someone in the office said.

Pearl was getting a cup of water in the break room.

Queenie happened to be there too. Seeing Pearl, she said, "Pearl, did you hear them? Mr. Brown invested a huge amount of money in Haley to get her to this level. Was Haley used to be Mr. Brown's lifesaver?"

Queenie still couldn't figure out how Haley became famous.

And it only took one show to make her popular.

Queenie hadn't watched the show yet, just heard others say how good it was.

She didn't like Haley. No matter how famous Haley's show was, she didn't want to watch it.

Pearl looked at Queenie and smiled. "Even if money made her famous, she still has to match it with her ability."

Queenie said, "She got famous through scandals. She's always trending, either for attempted suicide or being framed. It's hard not to know about her."

Although Pearl didn't like Haley, she didn't deny her efforts. "Alright, let's stop talking about her. I don't even know why you dislike her."

It seemed like Queenie had no direct conflict with her.

Queenie pursed her lips. "I thought Mr. Brown liked you, and she meddled in. It made me unhappy, so I naturally found her more and more annoying. But since he has a wife, I gave up on that thought. However..." She looked at Pearl and smiled. "Pearl, I think you and Mr. Brown are a perfect match. You and Mr. Brown cooperate naturally, more like a married couple."

Queenie even had the illusion that Pearl might be Mr. Brown's mysterious wife.

After all, she hadn't appeared in public yet.

Pearl flicked Queenie's forehead. "Stop talking nonsense."

Queenie rubbed her head. "Got it, Pearl. I'll work hard. I really hope we can keep working together."

With Pearl around, Oscar would scold Queenie less.

Queenie felt sad at the thought of Pearl leaving soon.

Pearl didn't know how long she would stay. Maybe when she got really tired of it, she wouldn't want to follow the formal procedures anymore.

"By the way, we're out of a lot of drinks in the break room. I need to go shopping!" Queenie almost forgot.

Pearl thought of Oscar and said, "I'll go with you."

Queenie asked, "Does Mr. Brown need something?"

"Yes."

So, Pearl and Queenie went out.

Pearl drove the car.

Even though they had been working together for a while, it was Queenie's first time in Pearl's car.

Queenie got in and noticed the car was clean, with a pleasant scent. The car was worth tens of thousands of dollars, something Pearl definitely couldn't afford.

"Pearl, I've never gone out with you before. I didn't expect you to drive such a nice car," Queenie said happily. "It's really comfortable."

Pearl replied, "I've been driving this car for a long time."

Queenie said, "I rarely come to the underground parking lot. Isn't that Mr. Brown's car next to yours?"

Queenie saw his Rolls-Royce and wondered what it felt like to sit inside.

But sitting in Pearl's car was already satisfying .

This had always been Pearl's parking spot, right next to Oscar's.

She used to follow Oscar and rarely drove this car.

Recently, she had been driving it more often.

Pearl seemed to forget that this underground parking lot was exclusive to Oscar.

Pearl changed the subject. "Let's go buy the stuff."

Pearl quickly drove away to prevent Queenie from overthinking .
