Chapter 629 It's a Girl

The Harringtons were super thankful to Oscar.

Atticus and Imogen said, "Mr. Brown, we really owe you one this time. If it weren't for you, we'd be lost!"

"No need to thank me," Oscar replied.

If Christopher hadn't been involved, Oscar wouldn't have bothered with their problems.

But Atticus and Imogen saw this as a golden opportunity. Plus, Maeve was tight with Christopher, so they were set on building a connection with Oscar.

Not only would the Harringtons thrive, but Maeve would also live the high life.

Even though Oscar didn't want to get mixed up with them, he kept quiet whenever Christopher was around. Eventually, Atticus and the Brown Group started doing business together.

Maeve really grew up with Christopher.

A month later, Pearl hit her due date, but there were no signs of labor.

Oscar was freaking out and took Pearl to the hospital. Going past the due date could mean the amniotic fluid might get cloudy.

Oscar was super careful, setting up a VIP room for Pearl with a dozen medical staff on hand.

Pearl wasn't as stressed as Oscar. This was her second kid, and there were no signs of labor. Plus, they were in the hospital with doctors around.

Pearl ate and drank like usual.

But Pearl's deal was that she was fine during the day, but at night she started having contractions. They weren't strong enough for labor, but they kept her from sleeping.

Oscar saw this and felt terrible. He even suggested, "If this keeps up, how about a C-section?"

He couldn't stand seeing Pearl suffer. If she didn't get good rest, she wouldn't have had the strength to give birth.

But Pearl wasn't having it. "I had a natural birth with Christopher. I don't want to get cut open."

That would be so ugly! She didn't want to go through the pain of both natural and C-section births!

"So what do we do?" Oscar was panicking. He didn't trust other doctors and specifically called Quincy.

Quincy was fed up with Oscar, saying, "Oscar, get it straight, I'm not an obstetrician. No matter how versatile I am, I can't help with childbirth! You have professional doctors here. Can you listen to them? If it really doesn't work, the doctors will suggest a C-section! Besides..."

Oscar caught the key point and asked, "Besides what?"

Quincy gave Oscar a look, saying, "Besides, there are guidelines for C-sections now. Pearl had a natural birth the first time, so this time having a natural birth again should be no problem."

"What do you mean?" Oscar was confused.

When Pearl gave birth to Christopher, he was focused on detoxifying Pearl, and Christopher was taken away as soon as he was born.

At that time, his entire focus was on Pearl.

Seeing that he didn't get it, Quincy explained, "Vaginal birth is more beneficial for both the mother and baby, and unlike a C-section, it doesn't leave a scar."

After finding out the reason behind all this, Oscar was super frustrated.

He even went to Pearl, trying to convince her, "Look, there's painless childbirth now, but you're exhausted from this daily ordeal. How about enduring the pain once and being done with it? If you're worried about scars, I'll get the best cosmetic team for you, okay?"

But Pearl was stubborn. "No, I want a natural birth. The baby is just taking its time, not that it won't come out. Besides, aren't all my prenatal checkups good? Natural birth recovers faster. I don't want to be stuck in bed for seven days after a C-section, unable to move." She hadn't experienced a C-section, but she'd read up on it.

Just thinking about lying in pain for seven days and having a scar made Pearl feel awful.

Oscar said, "But I feel bad for you."

Pearl believed him. During their remarriage and her pregnancy, Oscar had been super careful in taking care of her.

Pearl held Oscar's hand and said, "The pain will fade, and I can handle it. Just wait for her to arrive."

Since the baby was already on the way, they had to welcome her despite the discomfort.

Three days later, Pearl still showed no signs of labor. The nurse and doctor came to check on her and suggested she do yoga ball exercises and climb stairs.

If there was still no progress, they would intervene.

Unexpectedly, that night when Pearl got up to go to the bathroom, she felt her water break, followed by intense pain.

Oscar was with her the whole time, so when she felt something was wrong, he quickly called the doctor.

After checking, the doctor said she needed to be taken to the delivery room.

Pearl felt that giving birth to the second child was more painful than the first. At least with the first, there was a process. This time, it was so fast and so painful!

Oscar even applied to the hospital to accompany her throughout the process.

Pearl didn't want Oscar to come in; she even pushed him away and said, "I can do it myself. Aren't there doctors and nurses with me?"

"But I want to be with you," Oscar said with unwavering determination.

Back then, he couldn't be with Pearl because they were thinking of separating, not wanting Pearl to miss him.

Now that everything was out in the open and they were moving towards a better future, how could he leave her at such an important moment?

Oscar held Pearl's hand tightly and said firmly, "I won't leave you. I want to be with you to help you bring our daughter into the world!"

With Oscar by her side, Pearl felt supported and empowered as she followed the guidance of the doctors and nurses, bravely facing the challenges of childbirth.

It only took three hours from the time her water broke to the birth of the baby.

The doctor brought the baby to her and said, "Mrs. Brown, it's a girl."
