Chapter 177 Domineering

Pearl looked calm and said lightly, "I'm just stating the facts."

"You..."

Hathaway was very angry, but then she heard a noise outside the door and saw Oscar coming in.

"Oscar, you're back just in time. Look, your wife is talking back to me. How dare she?" Hathaway stood up and complained to Oscar.

Oscar strode in, glanced at Pearl, and then looked at Hathaway. "If you didn't provoke her, why would she talk back to you? Pearl has always been gentle when she's with me."

Oscar took a few steps and stood in front of Pearl.

He loomed over her like a mountain, making Pearl feel oppressed, especially by the strong smell of tobacco on him.

Pearl couldn't help but look up at him.

Seeing the two of them standing together, Hathaway almost stomped her foot in anger and said, "You, you really don't care about me anymore!"

"Go upstairs and wait for me," Oscar said to Pearl.

Pearl returned to her senses and went upstairs, leaving Hathaway and Oscar in the living room

Hathaway immediately said, "Oscar, how long are you going to avoid me?"

Oscar sneered. "What made you say that?"

It was up to himself whom he decided to see. No one could influence him.

He wasn't afraid of anyone and didn't need to avoid anyone.

"If you're not avoiding me, why haven't I seen you lately?" Hathaway's face was cold and extremely unpleasant.

Oscar didn't take Hathaway seriously at all. "Don't do such annoying things again, or don't blame me for having your things packed and thrown out."

With that, Oscar also wanted to go upstairs.

"Oscar!" Hathaway shouted in exasperation, "I am your mother!"

Oscar stopped, turned back to look at her, and coldly mocked. "When I needed you the most, you were absent. Now I don't need you anymore. I am nice enough to let you stay."

With that, Oscar left.

Hathaway took two steps back, her face pale, and sat down on the sofa.

In the bedroom, Pearl had just taken a shower and was drying her hair.

Just then, Oscar's tall figure walked in from outside.

Oscar's face was gloomy and unpleasant.

He approached Pearl step by step. "Don't let me see you stay with Adrian Egan again."

This was Oscar's order.

Pearl pursed her lips together and said hoarsely, "After you left, I couldn't get a cab. Adrian happened to be there, so he gave me a ride."

Pearl couldn't possibly walk home.

Pearl had never questioned Oscar about Haley, so Oscar shouldn't have the right to order Pearl.

Clearly, there was nothing between Pearl and Adrian.

Oscar sneered. "You mean coincidence? You two seem to have a lot of coincidences. You met at the job market, and now again. Isn't that quite weird?"

Pearl paused, feeling Oscar's harshness.

"I am innocent. Why should I explain?"

Pearl said, "Cheating is not my thing!"

Oscar pursed his lips together, feeling a bit irritated, but he also noticed the stubbornness in Pearl's eyes.

At the same time, he thought of what Tom had said.

Oscar tugged at his tie and calmed down. He indeed had no evidence to prove that Pearl and Adrian had any intimate relationship.

Oscar rationally said, "That's best. Remember what you said."

Upon hearing this, Pearl felt a bit uncomfortable and asked, "What about you?"

Oscar demands her, but has Oscar ever demanded it of himself?

Oscar frowned, "What?"

Pearl looked at Oscar, suddenly unsure if she should let him know.

Maybe she didn't dare to face it.

Pearl clenched her fist and looked away. "Nothing."

Oscar noticed her unusual expression, as if she had something to say but hesitated. He was about to ask her when there was a knock on the door.

"Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown!" The servant called.

Oscar went to open the door.

The servant handed an invitation to Oscar. "Mr. Brown, this is an invitation from the Doe family."

It had "70th Birthday" written on it.

"Okay, you may leave us."

Oscar opened the invitation; it was for Hunter Doe's 70th birthday.

Oscar had known Hunter for a long time but rarely attended his birthday parties.

Their friendship was understood by both, and they didn't overly intrude on each other's lives.

Sending an invitation this time meant it was an important day for Hunter.

Oscar should attend.

Moreover, Hunter, due to his past in the military, was frugal and didn't like extravagance.

This was likely just a family gathering.

Those people would also be there.

Oscar frowned slightly, feeling a bit hesitant, but considering Hunter's age, Oscar should be more considerate.

Oscar turned around, and Pearl was already lying down. He said, "Pearl, accompany me to a birthday party tomorrow night."

"Whose?"

Pearl wasn't very interested.

"Hunter's."

Pearl sat up and asked, "Hunter's birthday party?"

"70th birthday."

Pearl suddenly remembered she had plans to have dinner with Adrian tomorrow. She said, "I have something to do tomorrow."

"Besides, you used to attend alone." Their marriage was not public, and Oscar bringing Pearl would confirm her status.

Oscar liked to maintain the appearance of being single, so Pearl shouldn't attend such events.

"What is it?" Oscar was more concerned about what Pearl had planned.

Pearl didn't hide it. "I have a dinner appointment."

"With Adrian Egan?"

"He helped me, so I want to treat him for dinner."

Oscar's face turned cold. "Didn't you just say that an innocent person shouldn't explain?"

Pearl looked at him, "Does having a meal means an improper relationship? Treating him to dinner is just repaying a favor. It's not as complicated as you think."

"You shouldn't go!" Oscar's anger flared up again.

Pearl didn't want to argue with him, but his attitude made her even angrier.

She said coldly, "Talk about it tomorrow. I'll get your clothes ready; you take a shower."

With that, she got out of bed.

As she passed by Oscar, he wanted to grab her.

She seemed like she was trying to escape from him.

But he didn't move.

After his shower, Oscar came out of the bathroom, he calmed himself down. He got into bed and gently pulled Pearl into his arms, whispering in her ear, "Don't go to your appointment tomorrow. Come with me."

Pearl, with her eyes closed, didn't think twice. "Okay."

She hadn't been with Oscar for long, and it was Hunter's party after all.

Oscar's attitude made it hard for Pearl to refuse.

Adrian could wait for another time.

Her answer satisfied Oscar, and he held her as they lay down.

The next day, when Pearl arrived at the company, she was called to the office and saw a Haute couture gown bag on the sofa.

Oscar gestured to Pearl, smiling. "See if it's a style you like. If not, have Harold exchange it, or I can take you myself."
