Chapter 787 Betrayal in Person
That kid was the only one Azalea had with Nathaniel.
She never thought Nathaniel would call her right now.
Of course, she picked up his call immediately.
But she didn't want Benjamin to see her like this.
She stepped aside to take the call, and Nathaniel's voice was cold on the other end. "Azalea, I admit I used a fake name to get close to you, but I never did anything to hurt you. The kid you're carrying isn't mine."
Nathaniel's words hit Azalea like a ton of bricks.
If the kid wasn't Nathaniel's, then whose was it?
That night, it was Nathaniel who was with Azalea.
But then!
Nathaniel sent Azalea a video, showing a bunch of depraved rich kids assaulting her.
Azalea understood everything.
Nathaniel chose this moment to tell her because he didn't want her to hurt Benjamin. But that was a kid she had once cared for with all her heart.
No matter how desperate she felt, she could never bring herself to hurt Benjamin.
It made sense that she had never met Nathaniel before, yet such an amazing person appeared by her side.
It was all because of Saskia.
To Nathaniel, Azalea was just a tool, and he didn't even bother to tell her his real name.
In all her attempts to be kind, Nathaniel only pretended, sometimes even showing disdain.
Azalea took a deep breath and said, "Can I see you one last time? There are some things I want to say to you in person."
Nathaniel felt that meeting Azalea face-to-face and laying everything out would be good for both of them.
He agreed, "Alright."
Azalea suggested a time. "Let's meet in three days." With that, she hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel relayed Azalea's message to Saskia, who was lying weakly in a hospital bed. A faint smile appeared on Saskia's face.
Azalea had been persuaded, and given her close relationship with Benjamin, she certainly wouldn't harm him.
Seeing Saskia's pale face light up with a smile made Nathaniel's heart race.
Saskia, the woman who had haunted his dreams countless times, was someone he couldn't quite figure out whether to love or hate. Now, her only condition for saving Nathaniel was that Benjamin be protected.
At that moment, Nathaniel remembered something James had said: "Love her, just love her. Why can't you accept her kid?"
However, Nathaniel couldn't hide his frustration with Saskia's choices. "Saskia, you walked away from me for five million dollars. Now that you're in this situation, do you regret it?"
Saskia hadn't expected Nathaniel, who had always tormented her for revenge, to ask such a question.
Regret?
The five million dollars had cleared her father's debts and provided them with a brief moment of peace. Without that money, they might not have reached their current position.
Some things simply couldn't be quantified.
Saskia retorted, "Nathaniel, what good does it do to get an answer? There's no future for us."
"How ridiculous. You still think I have feelings for you? Saskia, you're not the most beautiful woman in the world, and you're not the only woman left." Nathaniel was infuriated by Saskia's words.
What did Saskia mean? Was she saying she had other suitors?
Was Nathaniel the one who couldn't let go?
Saskia said, "I know. I don't expect you to have any feelings for me. I'm just telling you the truth. Nathaniel, I like you, but in my heart, you're worth far less than five million dollars."Saskia suppressed the pain in her heart. To make Nathaniel give up, she had to say this.
Five million dollars.
When Nathaniel was George, Jade never let him lack money.
Later, as Nathaniel, he had even more money.
Yet Saskia's words directly mocked their relationship.
Nathaniel felt deeply ridiculed and said, "Saskia, if you needed money, you could have asked me. If you had kept me happy, wouldn't that have been better than getting five million dollars?"
His eyes were filled with endless sorrow and pain.
He gave Saskia a feeling of familiarity, pleading with her to deceive him.
She hadn't forgotten Nathaniel's kindness, but just as she was about to say something, there was a loud noise. Jade forcefully pushed the door open from the outside.
The domineering Jade instantly caught Saskia's eye.
Saskia knew Jade wasn't here with good intentions.
She said nothing, waiting for Jade to speak.
Jade didn't approach Saskia, just stood at the door, but her words were powerful. "Saskia, I paid you five million dollars to leave Nathaniel before. I didn't want it to be temporary. But to keep you from affecting him, name your price."
Jade knew that to make Nathaniel give up completely, he had to see Saskia treat him as a bargaining chip.
Saskia hadn't expected Jade to take such a step.
She felt a lump in her throat, her heart weighed down by a heavy stone.
Yet she was already on the bowstring, with no choice but to move forward.
"Back then, it was five million dollars. Now, Nathaniel's worth has doubled. But considering our previous deal, Jade, how about you give me six million dollars? I'll leave him completely, even if you want me dead." Saskia spoke each word clearly, not looking at Nathaniel.
Nathaniel's whole presence was icy and intense, like a grim reaper emerging from the depths of hell.
Saskia had really sold him out right in front of him!
"Saskia, are you crazy for money?" Nathaniel grabbed her wrist, not caring if she was receiving an IV or if she was injured.
No one had ever calculated against him like this, making him so furious.
Saskia suppressed the pain in her heart. She knew Nathaniel was very angry, but Jade had already gone this far. If Saskia didn't continue, they would face even greater pain.
Some people were better off never meeting. If Saskia hadn't met Nathaniel, they wouldn't be suffering so much now.
Saskia looked at Jade, speaking each word clearly, "You set the price before. Now I'm naming it. What, you don't like it?"
Jade hadn't expected Saskia to be so straightforward in front of Nathaniel.
Nathaniel's worth was immense now.
If Saskia had asked Nathaniel for anything, he wouldn't have ignored her. But Saskia didn't ask Nathaniel; she played along with Jade's act.
What more could Jade say?
She looked at Nathaniel and chuckled, "Nathaniel, you see, the person you once loved with your life, in her heart, you're worth nothing."
Nathaniel was already heartbroken, and Jade's words were like salt in the wound.
How could Nathaniel bear such pain?
He shouted, "Enough! All of you, shut up! Saskia, the pain you've caused me, I'll make you pay back a hundredfold. This is just the beginning. And you, don't think you can hurt me this way!"
