Chapter 415 Reunion

"Something's happening!"

"Quick! Defend!"

"Protect the villagers!"

Chaos erupted. The battle started, and bloodshed followed.

Both armies clashed in a fierce gunfight.

Some villagers, unable to escape, got caught in the crossfire, ducking and running in panic.

Machine guns mowed down innocent villagers.

Artillery boomed, smoke filled the air, and the smell of blood was strong.

Little kids, two or three years old, stood crying for their mothers.

"Protect the children!" Special forces scooped up the kids, shielding them and escorting them to safety.

The allied forces came prepared but faced unexpected challenges.

Caught off guard by Tranquiloria's peacekeeping troops, who boasted superior weapons and skills, they were compelled to order a retreat and abandon the battlefield.

Tranquiloria's troops couldn't pursue them; they were there to protect people, not to chase enemies without a warrant.

The battle lasted ten minutes, leaving the village in ruins.

Houses were riddled with bullet holes, some burning.

Bodies lay on the ground, and some villagers were injured.

Women and children crouched by the bodies, crying.

Oscar stepped down from the truck. In a camouflaged uniform with insignia and protective goggles, he carried a rifle, looking authoritative. His face was stern as he surveyed the chaotic village, a sight he was used to. With his usual cold tone, he commanded, "Clean up the site and help the villagers rebuild their houses!"

"Yes, sir!" The subordinates got to work.

This was a common task for them in Eldorians.

Just then, Vincent came running with urgent news.

"A school has collapsed, and teachers and students might be trapped inside!"

Oscar furrowed his brows and commanded, "Send a rescue team immediately!"

A squad rushed to the school only to find the collapsed building reduced to a pile of rubble.

Upon arrival, they heard Ricardo crying.

"Someone's still alive!" They sprang into action. "Hurry up!"

Ricardo was shielded by Pearl. He never expected her to protect him.

He cried continuously, feeling Pearl's blood, but he couldn't move. He kept calling out to Pearl, but she didn't respond, making him more frantic.

Hearing someone approaching, Ricardo cried out, "We're here! Save Ms. Harris! She's lost a lot of blood; she can't die! Help us!"

The soldiers heard Ricardo's cries and dug faster, reassuring him, "Don't cry. We're here to rescue you!"

Soon, they were pulled out from the rubble.

When Pearl was pulled out, she was using her body to shield Ricardo and Ximena.

She was unconscious, with blood streaming from her head.

Ricardo and Ximena were unharmed.

When the building collapsed, Pearl had used a desk to shield them, preventing serious injury.

When Pearl was laid on the ground, she was motionless, covered in dust, still bleeding, her face barely recognizable.

Ricardo and Ximena cried louder, shaking Pearl's hand. "Ms. Harris, wake up. You can't die!"

The soldiers quickly pulled Ricardo and Ximena away and checked Pearl's breathing.

"She's still breathing!"

"Get her to medical treatment immediately!"

Pearl woke up feeling groggy, seeing rows of cots and an army-green tent overhead.

She sat up quickly, noticing the Tranquiloria flag on the blankets, cups, and tools around her.

"Ms. Harris! You're awake!" Ricardo exclaimed, throwing himself into her arms.

Pearl, momentarily confused, instinctively patted his head.

Vincent walked in, dressed in military uniform. "You're awake!"

Pearl looked up. "How are you feeling?" Vincent asked.

Hearing familiar English, Pearl felt a bit at ease. "I'm fine. Are you from the Tranquiloria army?"

"Yes," Vincent replied, a bit excited. "It's chaotic here. I didn't expect to meet someone from Tranquiloria."

Pearl immediately thought of Oscar. Tentatively, she asked, "Do you know Oscar?"

Vincent's eyes lit up. "You know Oscar?"

Pearl's emotions surged. "Where is he?"

"Oscar hasn't returned yet. He might still be on a mission," Vincent said, noticing her emotions.

Pearl felt a sense of hope. Knowing he was safe was enough for now. "I understand," she said calmly.

Vincent found her quick emotional shift peculiar. "Well, you should rest. I'll head out."

"Okay, thank you."

"You're welcome. It's our duty," Vincent said, saluting before leaving.

Ricardo approached, full of remorse. "Ms. Harris, I'm sorry for what I did before. Will you forgive me? I promise to listen to you from now on and never go against you or make you angry again."

Holding Pearl's hand, his blue eyes filled with tears. "As long as you realize your mistakes, that's good," Pearl smiled.

"I know. Mr. Mitchell taught me that recognizing mistakes gives me a chance to correct them. I promise I won't be naughty anymore," Ricardo said, having let go of his prejudice against her.

Pearl asked, "Where's Ximena? And the other students?"

"Don't worry. Ximena is fine; she's taking care of her mom. The other students are okay too. You protected us well," Ricardo said, his voice choked with emotion.

"Don't be afraid. These soldiers are here to protect you," Pearl comforted him.

"I know. You all are good. If it weren't for you, we would have died!" Ricardo said, still trembling with fear.

Pearl told Ricardo to go back and help his family, as most houses in the village were damaged. He obediently went back.

Pearl, still injured, couldn't do much to help. She walked out and saw soldiers taking off their uniforms to help the villagers rebuild their houses.

Despite the severe damage, life had to go on.

In the evening, someone shouted, "Oscar is back!"

Pearl, resting in the tent, instinctively woke up and rushed to the entrance.

She saw Oscar getting out of a vehicle, tall and imposing in full military uniform. Even with his face covered, she recognized him instantly.

His imposing presence was something she had never seen before.

Pearl momentarily forgot to breathe, her eyes fixed on him.

Oscar sensed someone staring at him. He casually looked in her direction, then stopped in his tracks, eyes filled with shock.
