Chapter 134: This Is the Opportunity I Give You

Pearl glanced sideways.

On the notebook, there was a note about a white T-shirt.

It was not a mistake. It was what Oscar liked at one point in time, the simplest of outfits, back when he was full of vigor and vitality.

How could Pearl have it noted in the notebook?

This notebook had been around for a while, maybe she just forgot to cross it out.

"Ms. Pearl?"

Sarah noticed Pearl looking distracted and called out to her.

Pearl came to her senses and said with a slight smile, "Cross it out."

"Okay," Sarah replied.

Sarah knew that a CEO like Oscar, who had a significant influence in the retail and business fields, wouldn't have been in the habit of wearing a white T-shirt.

Sarah was a fresh graduate, but she was a quick study.

Pearl thought that Sarah was suitable to be Oscar's assistant.

Now that Pearl had found the right person for the job, Oscar would let Pearl go.

Pearl sat at her desk in a daze.

Sarah noticed that Pearl was looking at her and asked, "Ms. Pearl, are you feeling unwell?"

Pearl smiled warmly at Sarah and said, "It's nothing, just carry on with your work."

Footsteps approached them from afar.

"Pearl, get ready for a high-level meeting in half an hour," Harold said, sternly.

"Okay." Pearl got up and prepared for the meeting.

Turning her head, her eyes met Oscar's, which were tinged with indifference.

Pearl said to Oscar, "Mr. Brown, this is the new secretary, Sarah White."

"Hello, Mr. Brown. Hello, Mr. Lewis," Sarah said..

Oscar's glance at Sarah showed displeasure, and he said coldly, "You're responsible for the people you hire, Pearl. . You should know what I dislike, so don't make mistakes!"

He then left.

Pearl knew that he was warning her. She knew she was responsible for Sarah and that she shouldn't allow Sarah to do anything wrong.

Sarah was sensible. After Oscar left, Sarah assured Pearl. "Ms. Pearl, I will learn well and not cause you any trouble."

"That's good," Pearl replied and began preparing for the high-level meeting.

In the CEO's office, Harold reported to Oscar, "The Johnson Group from abroad has recently submitted a collaboration tender to us, and in three days, BidHub will hold an auction. The Hall Group sent an invitation for a meeting tonight."

"Since they took the trouble to invite us, not attending it would upset them, wouldn't it?" Oscar said with a smile.

Harold nodded. "That's right. I'll coordinate it."

Half an hour later, in the Brown Group's meeting room, the company's high-level executives filled the seats on both sides of the conference table.

Oscar sat at the head of the table.

Pearl and Harold were on Oscar's left and right, respectively.

Behind Pearl stood the newly recruited secretary, Sarah, who had been taking notes since Oscar spoke.

Sarah even managed to prepare a freshly brewed cup of coffee for Oscar and placed it not far from his right hand.

"Mr. Brown, for this new product launch, you chose a new company to collaborate with, which might upset the companies we'vebeen working with for a long time."

One of the executives, Ava Williams, immediately voiced her dissent after Oscar expressed his idea.

Other executives chimed in, saying, "Mr. Brown, I think Ms. Williams has a point. Although we have the confidence, collaborations with other companies have always been conducted in an orderly manner. A sudden change like this seems inappropriate."

"Mr. Brown, there must be an explanation and reason for suddenly discontinuing our collaborations with them."

"What explanation and reason do you think I need to give them?" Oscar looked at everyone, the sarcasm in his voice becoming more apparent.

Oscar was smiling, but it wasn't a genuine smile.

Oscar gestured to the others. "According to you, do I need your approval to hire a new employee?"

"We didn't say that."

Sarah, who was behind Oscar, heard Oscar mention her and spoke up in the silence, "Hello, everyone, I am the new employee, Sarah White. It's a pleasure to meet all of you."

Their gazes turned to Sarah in confusion.

They were wondering where she came from and why she was speaking.

Seeing their gaze on her, Sarah boldly continued. "The leader is Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown called this meeting, which is a sign of respect for everyone. However, the final decision-making authority still lies with Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown's intentions are all for the good of the company. You've all followed Mr. Brown this far because of his abilities. Why do you doubt his actions now? Do you have other thoughts?"

At this, Oscar narrowed his eyes.

Sarah's words immediately made the people present feel pressured.

Pearl thought Sarah was being rather bold. She had never spoken like this at a meeting before.

Sarah wasn't being very tactful when she questioned the high-level shareholders. She caused them to panic a bit.

"There's nothing of the sort. We are loyal to Mr. Brown for sure!"

"Mr. Brown, don't listen to her nonsense, we were just asking."

They hurriedly tried to explain themselves after Sarah spoke.

"Sit down, Sarah White." Oscar didn't get angry at Sarah's words. He just gave her a simple command.

"Okay," Sarah complied.

Pearl looked at Oscar. Oscar always disliked people who lacked decorum, but this time was different.

Could it be that these high-level executives were really in trouble?

Oscar saw everyone agreeing with him, fearing that the blame would fall on them.

However, Ava's face looked somewhat grim. Oscar smiled and said to her, "Ava, do you have any other thoughts to share?"

With so many people agreeing with Oscar and only Ava opposing, it wouldn't change anything.

Ava could only smile and say, "Since your decision is final, I have no objections. My thoughts align with everyone's in supporting you. I am just expressing my concern and fear that the company may encounter problems."

"Ava, what kind of problems do you think the Brown Group might encounter?" Oscar said, raising  an eyebrow.

Oscar was smiling, but the chill in his eyes made people shudder.

Ava knew that Oscar was probing her first. She had to follow Oscar's lead, so she said, "I'm worried that those collaborating companies might form alliances because are no longer working with them."

Oscar remained silent, which left Ava somewhat puzzled and anxious.

Just as the atmosphere in the room became tense, Oscar coldly stated, "If the company encounters problems, naturally, I will bear the responsibility. However, the Brown Group does not tolerate or employ people who do not work seriously, especially those who engage in improper activities in private. All of you should attend to those accounts in your hands properly."

Oscar's words carried a deeper meaning that left the executives confused.

Ava's expression was particularly grim.

Later, Ava left the meeting room and returned to her office. She made a phone call, and when the call connected, her voice was cold. "I accept everything you told me, and I will cooperate with you.

But you must promise to comply with the request I mentioned last time."

Ava's eyes showed a hint of fierceness as she spoke.

Meanwhile, Oscar had already returned to the CEO's office.

Pearl stood opposite him.

With just a glance from Oscar, Pearl approached him. Unexpectedly, Oscar then pulled Pearl toward him and grabbed her chin.
