Chapter 159 What Are You Thinking About

Pearl was stunned.

Oscar had never been this gentle with her before.

If it weren't for the three years stipulated in the agreement and Haley, she might have rekindled the desire to stay by Oscar's side because of his actions and words.

Pearl nodded. "I know Quincy isn't very scary, but I really did see a doctor and there's not much of a problem. Why don't you believe me? Do I look like I'm sick or something?"

"Or do you think I'm pregnant?"

This time, Pearl asked first.

Oscar had mentioned it before, but she had always denied it.

This time, Pearl brought it up first, hoping Oscar would dismiss the idea.

Oscar didn't respond.

However, his gaze fell back on her because of what she said.

Recently, he thought she had gained weight.

But in the past few days, she seemed to look paler and thinner.

"I'll have the maid make you something good to eat. You should stay here for a while," Oscar said slowly, his voice hoarse.

Pearl nodded.

At night, when she took a bath and went to bed, Pearl didn't dare to wear light-colored clothes.

Pearl chose a loose plaid nightgown.

Not long after she lay down, Oscar lay down beside her.

Instantly, Pearl's whole body tensed up.

"I want to cuddle."

Oscar's voice sounded gentle in the dark.

Men's words are the least trustworthy.

Pearl was also afraid his hand would touch her abdomen.

Pearl didn't move. "We're getting divorced tomorrow. Let's just sleep separately from tomorrow on. I don't want you to lose control and accidentally get me pregnant."

Oscar's attitude wasn't as forceful as usual.

He said, "We haven't divorced yet. If you do get pregnant, then we'll just keep the baby."

Pearl was completely stunned.

Did Oscar mean that he didn't want a divorce and wanted to have a child with her?

Without Haley, she might believe it.

Pearl refused. "I don't want to have a child with you. Oscar, let's say goodbye peacefully. Our contractual marriage served its purpose. While I'm still young, let's not waste each other's time."

"Go to sleep."

Oscar didn't want to talk anymore.

Pearl remained vigilant and kept her distance from him. Eventually, she fell asleep uncontrollably.

When Pearl woke up, she found herself lying in Oscar's arms.

Pearl was a bit scared.

She slept so soundly!

Did Oscar do anything to her while she was asleep?

"I didn't do anything. I was just holding you. Since you're awake, let's go downstairs for breakfast," Oscar realized she was awake.

He also noticed that it was already daylight.

Pearl didn't say anything but quickly got out of his arms.

She went into the bathroom, then the dressing room.

She came out wearing a loose outfit.

Oscar said in a low voice, "Your style of dressing has changed a lot recently."

Pearl quickly replied, "I haven't been going to the office, so why wouldn't I dress comfortably at home? Dressing so formally is tiring."

Oscar responded with a low voice, which was a tacit agreement to her words.

Seeing that he didn't say anything else, Pearl said, "I'll go downstairs now."

"Go ahead."

With that, Pearl walked out of the bedroom.

Waking up too early, Pearl found the maid just starting to prepare breakfast, so she took over.

She made oatmeal porridge, pasta, and even stewed chicken soup.

Once everything was ready, the maid helped her bring the dishes to the dining table outside.

Oscar happened to come downstairs, and Pearl called out to him, "Come and have breakfast."

At this moment, sunlight fell perfectly on Pearl, casting a beautiful golden edge on her.

Oscar felt that everything was perfect, as if they had gone back to the beginning.

However, this was only temporary.

Because after breakfast, they went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to make an appointment.

Oscar didn't really want to eat breakfast, but he couldn't avoid it.

Pearl's cooking was excellent; the food was delicious for the stomach.

After breakfast, they walked out together.

Oscar didn't call for the driver or Harold. He drove himself, and Pearl sat in the passenger seat, just like the day they got their marriage certificate.

But the weather wasn't as good that day as it was today.

At the Civil Affairs Bureau, they needed an appointment for the divorce.

After waiting for about half an hour, it was finally Oscar and Pearl's turn.

The staff looked at the date and their marriage certificate, and before giving them an appointment a month later, tried to mediate. "You've been married for three years, and now you want a divorce. Was it because of infidelity or something?"

Neither Oscar nor Pearl spoke, but Oscar's face looked the worst.

Just as Pearl was about to say something, the staff interrupted. "Do you have any children? How are you handling the property division?"

Pearl said, "No cheating, no kids, no property disputes. We simply no longer have feelings for each other and want a divorce. The cooling-off period is one month. When can we expect to schedule an appointment?"

"Four months."

Hearing the time given by the staff, Pearl was stunned. "Why four months later? Isn't the separation period only three months?"

Pearl was anxious.

In four months, her pregnancy would be noticeable.

If Pearl had to divorce Oscar with a big belly, Oscar definitely wouldn't agree to the divorce.

The staff gave Pearl a dismissive look. "Many people are waiting for a divorce. Your turn is scheduled in four months. Since you have no disputes, you can't speed up the process. If not, you can choose not to get divorced."

These words made Pearl feel scared.

Why was it so hard to get a divorce?

Pearl could only suppress her frustration. "Alright."

Pearl took the appointment slip.

Then she walked out of the civil affairs bureau, feeling very depressed.

All she could think about was how to get divorced faster.

Wait!

Oscar cares so much about Haley. Pearl could now collect evidence of Oscar and Haley's relationship and present the marriage contract between her and Oscar to the judge.

Then hire a top-notch lawyer, and the marriage would surely be declared invalid.

"Pearl, what are you thinking about?"

Oscar, who had been watching Pearl since they left the Civil Affairs Bureau, noticed her silence, deep thought, and the shift from frustration to happiness.

Oscar couldn't bear it any longer and asked Pearl.

Pearl quickly snapped back to reality, "I just thought of a better way to get divorced."

Oscar felt heavy-hearted. "Pearl, are you really that happy about getting divorced?"
