Chapter 506 How Dare We Hide It from You
Oscar meant a lot to Pearl, and with his help, their family would reunite soon.
But RavenWing also promised Oscar, "Don't worry, I genuinely want to make it up to Pearl and help Christopher survive." He meant he would treat Christopher even Oscar refused to help.
"I know," Oscar replied slowly.
But Oscar's bone marrow wasn't a match for Christopher.
"We can't let Pearl come for a match; she'll find out," Oscar said. It would devastate Pearl to learn about this.
From Pearl's view, she just found Christopher and had a brief reunion, only to discover he was seriously ill. Anyone would struggle with that.
"I know. I'll arrange for us to test for a match for Christopher first. I have more people on my side," RavenWing said. If there wasn't a match among a hundred people, he'd gather more.
Oscar nodded and stayed by Christopher's side, holding and kissing his hand. "Christopher, this is your grandpa. There are misunderstandings between your mom and grandpa that need resolving. He had done many wrong things but had changed. He's treating your illness now. Don't tell your mom about it, okay?" Oscar said gently.
Christopher nodded. Meanwhile, Louis stayed with Pearl, and people brought fruits and Tranquiloria's signature dishes.
Louis recognized Jimena, "Isn't this the servant's job? Jimena, what are you doing?"
Louis grabbed Jimena's wrist and pulled her close. Jimena quickly explained, "Last time I hurt Ms. Mitchell. Now that she's back, I wanted to help prepare some food to make her feel at home."
Louis interrupted, looking grim, "This is her home."
Pearl grew up here but went to Tranquiloria when they were young, so she saw herself as from Tranquiloria.
Jimena didn't know how to respond. After her conflict with Pearl and finding out Pearl was Carol, she felt guilty. Now she had a chance to make up for it but was still disliked.
Jimena was on the verge of tears. "I'm sorry, Mr. Mitchell. I didn't mean it. I just wanted Ms. Mitchell to adapt here. I had no other intentions. I just wanted to make a good impression this time."
Jimena gestured anxiously, trying to convey her attitude. In front of Louis, she seemed like a child, with a bit of innocence in her eyes.
Louis didn't want to hear it. "Stop with the excuses. You're not needed here."
"I need to take a walk," Pearl said, not wanting to hear their argument but noticing Louis had feelings for Jimena.
Lately, she got good news about Elijah and Barbara getting together. They're planning a wedding at the end of the year, and Adrian's family is also making arrangements.
The only one without a partner around her was Nicholas. His situation was uncertain, but it was clear Jeffery and Louis were single. Despite past conflicts with Jimena, if she and Louis could hit it off, it would be great.
Louis was about to call out to Pearl when he noticed her hurrying away. Jimena blocked his way, looking down like a scolded child. "Mr. Mitchell, I'm really sorry. I meant well but messed up."
"Didn't you see you made Pearl leave in anger? Keep talking nonsense, and I'll have someone cut out your tongue."
If it weren't for her father Alvin Rios's loyalty to the Eldorians, she would've been executed long ago for offending Pearl!
Jimena took a deep breath. "Mr. Mitchell, don't be angry. I'll leave now. If Pearl needs anything, just let me know."
Ignoring her, Louis turned and left. Jimena watched him go, sighing quietly but determined to make him her boyfriend no matter what.
Louis caught up with Pearl. "Where are you going? I'll come with you."
Louis took big strides, and Pearl frowned. "I've stayed here before, so I know the rules. I won't wander around. But why are you watching me so closely?"
Pearl suddenly remembered Oscar being called away. It had been almost an hour, and he still hadn't returned. She was worried about Christopher.
Louis laughed. "No! I just wanted to keep you company because you're back, and I was worried. What could we possibly be hiding from you now?"
They could even entrust the Eldorians to Pearl; what else could they hide?
"I don't know what you're planning. What I do know is Christopher's been gone a long time, and Oscar was called away too. Now you're following me."
Pearl guessed something might have happened to Christopher, and they were afraid she couldn't handle it, so they told Oscar first. Thinking this, she quickened her pace.
Louis said, "Pearl, I think you're overthinking it. Oscar knows Christopher's situation best. How could we hide anything from you now?"
Pearl didn't listen. She had to find out what was going on.
Soon, she arrived at the lab. Christopher was lying on the operating table with Oscar by his side. He was receiving an IV, and his pale face tugged at Pearl's heart.
She quickly ran over.
"Mom," Christopher called out weakly. Tears instantly welled up in Pearl's eyes.
