Chapter 363 Will We Be Happy Together?

Oscar said, "Yes."

Pearl was stunned for a moment.

She couldn't believe it. The hero she admired, Magee, was a fake.

So, her relationship with Oscar was just a fantasy?

She had followed Magee to be with Oscar, and he told her it was all due to her memory confusion, which was unacceptable for her.

It felt like her world was falling apart. Even though she had doubts, she didn't want to destroy the illusion.

Staring at Oscar, she felt a deep sense of rejection.

"No way," Pearl insisted. "It's impossible!"

"How could I have a memory error? I remember it clearly. I really do!"

Seeing her struggle, Oscar gently said, "Even if it's not true, it doesn't matter. Fate brought us together. Don't worry about it."

Pearl couldn't process his words. If this wasn't real, then what was?

What did her years of waiting mean?

Was it all just a fantasy?

"I was the only one who survived the kidnapping. You saved me, and you were injured. I remember it. Everyone knows. Ask Eric, my parents—they all know. Why are you saying it's fake? This is impossible."

Pearl's eyes were dazed as she explained.

Oscar pulled her into his arms, patting her shoulder. "I know, I know everything."

This was their beginning.

He didn't want to shatter her dream but feared she'd never wake up and miss her true self.

Pearl leaned on his shoulder, speechless.

She didn't understand.

Why were her memories confused?

If Magee didn't exist, why did she love Oscar?

It was absurd and didn't make sense!

Pearl couldn't figure it out. Her relationship with Oscar shouldn't be like this.

She hadn't experienced the kidnapping, so why did she remember Oscar saving her?

No wonder Oscar had no memory of it.

Everything had an explanation, but she was obsessed in her fantasy.

She felt lost. These were the reasons she liked Oscar, but in the end, it was all in vain, just a fantasy.

'Were my feelings for Oscar just wishful thinking?'

She realized her emotions and fantasies had caused him trouble.

Feeling Oscar's warmth, Pearl's eyes were full of loss. "When did you find out?"

She thought he had known for a long time.

"When I was investigating Magee," Oscar said. "At first, it was just a guess, but later I confirmed it."

Pearl smiled bitterly. "I feel so ridiculous."

"Don't think that," Oscar frowned. "You're not ridiculous. I'm still here, aren't I?"

Pearl shook her head stubbornly. "But I got it wrong. Without the memory error, I wouldn't be here, and I wouldn't have caused you so much trouble. It was all just my fantasy."

"Don't say that!" Oscar interrupted, cupping her face, his eyes sincere. "I'm grateful you remember me. I didn't understand David's plan before, but now I do. Pearl, you're the best gift I've ever received. You complete my life. Thank you for being in it."

He felt lucky.

Before, his life felt empty, even though he seemed successful.

He was just going through the motions, living without hope.

Even when he returned to the Brown family to fulfill David's last wish, he knew David felt guilty.

He never felt fatherly or motherly love in the Brown family, just obligations.

His life was affluent but emotionally barren.

David wanted someone to love him, and then Pearl appeared.

Pearl still felt sad hearing Oscar's words.

Maybe it was the pregnancy making her more sensitive and fragile.

"Oscar," Pearl said, lowering her head. "Will we be okay together? No suspicion, doubt, or distrust? We have a child now; we can't be so reckless. I want our baby to grow up healthy. Can you promise me that?"

She was still worried.

After everything they'd been through, she felt insecure.

Even though she knew Oscar loved her, she feared the unknown future.

Oscar hesitated, not expecting such heavy words. He wanted to promise her but had to consider reality.

Thinking about their child, he knew Pearl would be a great mom, and many people loved her, so their baby would be loved too.

Oscar touched her belly, smiling slightly. "I know, but I've returned to the army. I can't predict the future. There are bigger challenges ahead. If something happens, if I don't come back from a mission..."

Pearl covered his mouth, her eyes reddening. "Don't talk like that!"

Oscar grabbed her hand, kissed it, and promised, "Okay, I won't say such things. I'll stay with you. No matter how far or difficult, I'll always find my way back to you."

Pearl hugged him tightly, afraid of losing him.

She had important people and weaknesses now, so she wasn't carefree. She hoped Oscar would always stay safe.

Thinking about her health, Pearl laughed. "Maybe I'll die before you."

"Don't talk nonsense!" Oscar said, staring at her. "You can't say that! You'll be safe and healthy, and grow up with the baby!"

He held her, his chin resting on her head. "Pearl, I won't let anything happen to you!"

He'd die before letting anything happen to her.

Pearl nodded. "I was just joking. I know I'll be fine. With you, Jeffery, Adrian, and so many people who care about me, I won't give up easily. We'll all be fine. How about we have two more babies in the future?"
