Chapter 373 You Met a Beautiful Girl

Pearl looked at him, surprised he thought that way.

His view matched hers.

"You're tough on your son," Pearl said, smiling.

Oscar wrapped his arm around her waist, grinning. "When boys grow up, they need to get married. If they have bad habits and don't care for others, who'd want to marry them? Even if someone did, she'd suffer."

Pearl had something to say about that.

As they were discussing, planning their future, the others in the ward got the hint and left quietly, giving them space.

Pearl turned to him, poking his chest with a hint of resentment. "You get it now, but why not when we got married? You were so harsh. How can I trust you now?"

Oscar hugged her, nuzzling her cheek. "I was wrong before. My experience taught me we can't let our child make the same mistakes. Love and marriage need to be good to avoid regrets."

Pearl leaned on his shoulder. "So, do you regret it?"

Oscar paused. "I regret waking up too late, but I'm grateful you're here. That's my happiest thing."

Pearl thought about their journey; it wasn't easy.

Who'd have thought Oscar would fall for her?

Maybe David saw it coming. He believed in her and made sure they stayed together.

But if she didn't love Oscar, this marriage wouldn't have happened.

She also wondered. Since her connection with Oscar didn't start in middle school, and he didn't save her, why did she end up at the same university and see him as her hero?

It was puzzling.

She was very confused.

After some time with Pearl, Oscar had to leave again.

He was super busy with his military duties and managing the company.

Pearl understood; he had his mission and beliefs.

She supported him.

He was still the hero, protecting people.

Thinking this way, Pearl felt a sense of sanctity.

She was in the room organizing baby gifts, with a maternal smile, looking forward to the baby's birth.

She put the bad things behind her.

After a while, Janetta walked in.

Pearl looked at her. "Didn't you go back? I thought you all left."

"They left first," Janetta said. "They didn't know your condition, but I do, so I wanted to ask you."

She was very worried about Pearl.

'She was pregnant and still plagued by illness.'

Pearl shook her head. "No results yet. We can't think negatively."

Janetta held her hand. "Why? The military caught the bad guys. How can there be no result? What kind of poison is this that can't be cured!"

Janetta was anxious; she thought it was absurd.

In this age, how could there still be such bad people?

Pearl couldn't accept it at first either, but the world is vast, and there are many things they can't see. "I'm still alive, and I won't give up."

She smiled slightly at Janetta while Janetta stared at her, not knowing what to say.

Pearl had a natural ability to heal people, making others build confidence like her.

Just like back then, Pearl always told her she had the talent to be an artist.

Otherwise, Janetta wouldn't be who she is today.

She hugged Pearl tightly.

Pearl patted her back, comforting her.

They were still as close as ever, sharing everything. They were best friends and confidantes, and over the years, their bond had grown to feel like family.

Pearl didn't want to stay cooped up in the ward every day. Knowing she might be in the hospital for a while, she decided to go for a walk with Janetta.

"Pearl?"

As they were walking and chatting, Avery Wells suddenly approached, looking confused and calling out Pearl's name uncertainly.

Pearl turned around, surprised to hear someone calling her.

When she saw Avery, she had a vague impression but couldn't recall her name. She felt it was fuzzy until Avery said, "Pearl, don't you recognize me? Have I changed that much? I sat next to you, and we often chatted after class. Have you forgotten?"

Pearl smiled politely. "Sorry, I have a vague impression, but I can't recall your name right now."

"I'm Avery! Do you remember now? I'm so happy to see you." Avery was very enthusiastic. She had short hair, no makeup, and a lively personality. Seeing Pearl again, she was very excited. "I can't believe it's been so many years, and you're pregnant now. But you haven't changed much, still so beautiful."

Avery had always admired Pearl's looks.

In school, she was widely recognized as a beauty, with striking features and thick, lustrous hair. She still looked just as stunning now.

Nowadays, many people envy those with thick hair. Pearl's face and figure were still perfect.

Since they were high school classmates, Pearl had many questions.

She looked at Avery, listening to her, and seemed to remember more clearly. She said, "I know, you sat next to me, and we often chatted after class, especially about your favorite celebrities."

"Yes!" Avery said excitedly. "I even liked to put posters on the desk."

"Yes!" Pearl said happily.

Avery grabbed Pearl's hand and wanted to jump up.

"But after high school graduation, I lost your contact info. Later, you didn't chat with me much. It made me sad. I thought you didn't like me anymore." Avery recalled that time fondly.

When they were students, life was simpler and less complicated than now.

"Really?" Pearl didn't quite understand. "Did I change a lot?"

"It doesn't seem like much now, but it was a big change back then. Just over one summer, you missed several months of classes and became less talkative," Avery said.

Pearl had always been quiet and reserved. In her memory, she felt she was normal, except for the incidents in middle school. She didn't think she had missed any part of her high school years.

Her parents thought the same.

Avery's words shocked her, and she didn't know how to respond.

Oscar had also mentioned that she disappeared for a summer in high school.

A lot must have happened during that time.

How did she get involved with The Crimson Eclipse Society?

As she was puzzled, Avery continued, "Do you remember Haley? She became a celebrity. Beautiful people really do succeed. I remember you said you met a beautiful girl from a single-parent family, and she was quite pitiful."

Avery's words left Pearl stunned.
