Chapter 879 Loving Someone Like Raising Flowers
"Why do it yourself when you can get someone else to handle it?"
Nathaniel chuckled, feeling helpless. "Mom, you gotta think about Saskia's health. She's been busting her butt for the last four years because of Benjamin. We've only been together a short while, and she hasn't even had a chance to enjoy life before you're talking about another pregnancy. You know how tough pregnancy and childbirth can be."
Jade fell silent at Nathaniel's words.
Seeing her pause, Nathaniel continued, "One kid would be lonely. Saskia and I plan on having more, maybe two or three, so don't worry. We'll let it happen naturally."
"Alright, I'll leave it to you."
Since Nathaniel had said so, Jade felt that pushing further would be inconsiderate of Saskia.
Jade even felt a bit worried, "Do you think Saskia might misunderstand my eagerness?"
"Of course not. Saskia knows you mean well and understands you're not that kind of person."
Nathaniel had just placed his hand on Jade's shoulder when he saw Saskia walking towards them with a smile.
At that moment, Jade felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
Jade said, "Take Saskia out for a walk. Don't worry about the house or the company right now. Didn't you say it yourself? After all the hard work, it's time to enjoy life."
"Okay."
Nathaniel walked towards Saskia, both of them feeling relieved.
As Saskia and Nathaniel went upstairs, Saskia's recent collaboration with Electra had earned her a lot of respect in the industry.
Saskia was pleased.
However, she also thought of Amy.
She casually mentioned to Nathaniel, "You should let Amy go. She's just a poor soul who liked you too much. It's not her fault."
"You're not mad at her anymore?"
Nathaniel was surprised by Saskia's decision.
Saskia smiled, "Everyone makes their own choices. Before I came along, your mom did favor her and wanted her to be your fiancée. Back then, everyone acknowledged your relationship."
"That was their acknowledgment, not mine. I never saw Amy as anything." Nathaniel's expression turned serious.
Back then, he had major health issues and was in constant pain.
Later, he buried himself in work, and Jade's arrangements had nothing to do with him.
Saskia nodded, "I know. I was just saying. Let her go. If Electra can stop being my enemy, why should Amy remain one?"
Amy couldn't be her enemy forever. Everyone had their path, and once you let go of certain things, everything became clear.
"Alright, I'll let her go."
Since Saskia had spoken, Nathaniel had no objections.
When Amy was released, she was in disbelief.
Nathaniel had been so harsh on her before, and now he was personally arranging her release? Was this real?
Amy worried it was just a dream and pinched herself.
It hurt. This wasn't a dream.
She asked, "Why are you letting me go? Weren't you going to make me suffer?"
"You should ask Mr. Egan. This was his decision, not mine."
The man in front of her had a formal attitude.
Amy was stunned. Was it Nathaniel's father?
But if Nathaniel wanted to act against her, no one could stop him.
"Which Mr. Egan?"
Amy felt she needed to clarify.
The man was surprised Amy didn't understand, "Do you need us to remind you who you offended?"
Who she offended was Nathaniel, of course.
Amy took a deep breath. She wanted to know why Nathaniel was showing mercy.
She went to find Nathaniel and saw him and Saskia deeply in love. When they saw Amy, it was Saskia who approached her.
Seeing Saskia was a shock for Amy.
How long had it been?
The saying "loving someone was like raising flowers" was evident in Saskia. She had changed so much.
"Did you ask Nathaniel to let me go?"
Amy's voice was hoarse as she asked.
She had secretly studied Nathaniel, understanding him thoroughly. Nathaniel was known for holding grudges and never easily letting go.
She figured Saskia must have had a reason.
Saskia said, "Not letting you go would mean we still care about this. Nathaniel and I are doing well now. You're just a passerby to us."
A passerby. That word pierced Amy's heart.
She had loved Nathaniel for so long, chased him for so long, and he had never looked at her. In the end, she got nothing.
"Thank you for reminding me. Saskia, you're a good person." Amy choked up. Saskia was indeed a good person. Without her, Amy would still be locked up.
What she didn't expect was Saskia saying, "Your family won't be targeted anymore. Focus on your career and don't do foolish things for people who aren't worth it."
"You..."
Amy's breathing grew heavier. She opened her mouth to say more, but didn't know where to start.
Saskia smiled, "You should go home. Your family misses you. I have things to do. Maybe we can meet up another time; your friend is now my business partner."
With that, Saskia waved goodbye.
Amy watched Saskia walk away, realizing why Nathaniel didn't like her despite her good background and why he was so attached to Saskia.
She smiled bitterly, acknowledging that she could never match Saskia's kindness.
Saskia returned to Nathaniel's side. From the moment Saskia went to meet Amy, Nathaniel's eyes had been on her.
He was worried Amy might harm Saskia.
When Saskia noticed the concern in Nathaniel's eyes, she smiled, "Do you think I'm that helpless?"
"I'm just afraid you'll get hurt. I can't let anything happen to you. Saskia, it was so hard to be with you. No one knows how difficult it was to keep you."
Nathaniel held Saskia's shoulders firmly, his expression resolute.
