Chapter 74 He Doesn't Come Home Anymore.
A servant brought the coffee and placed it on the coffee table. "Ms. Brooks, here's your coffee."
Seraphina was still cautious. When the maid approached, she quickly threw the pillow aside and sat up straight, looking up at the maid and said, "Okay, thank you."
She looked at the cup on the coffee table, still steaming. The glass was beautiful, with a tray full of roses, giving off a scent of roses.
She picked up the coffee and took a sip, the subtle fragrance spreading in her mouth. She felt like she had become more sophisticated. "It's delicious, I've never had such a good cup of coffee before."
Maybe it was because she had never seen such a luxurious place before, so everything she saw and drank seemed magical.
She even felt that the coffee here was different from that of other people's houses.
The maid's duty was to serve her well. Upon hearing the compliment, the maid responded, "Thank you, Ms. Brooks."
With that, the maid left.
Seraphina looked at the maid for a long time. The maid's response was the first time she felt truly appreciated.
After a while, Pearl finally came out.
She had finished dealing with the matters she needed to handle.
When Seraphina saw her, she quickly put down her coffee, stood up, and smiled, calling out, "Ms. Harris."
Pearl glanced at her and said, "I had the room cleaned, so you can rest now. If you have nothing else, our conversation for today ends here. I'll leave first."
"Wait." Seraphina had something else to say.
"What else do you want to say?"
Seraphina said, "I haven't had a chance to thank you yet. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to experience this kind of lifestyle. I'm really grateful to you."
She didn't know how to repay Pearl, so she simply bowed to her.
Pearl remained silent, just observing her actions, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
She had seen many women around Oscar, and many of them would do anything to marry him. Seraphina shamelessly used her and now came to thank her, making her be on guard. "Seraphina, are you trying to shift the responsibility onto me? Do you think that if one day President Oscar finds out that you are not that woman, he would suspect my motives and we would become a community of shared interests?"
Upon hearing this, Seraphina looked at Pearl in confusion. "I don't understand what you're saying."
Realization dawned on her.
"Are you doubting me? What I said is true, and I'm not trying to harm you. Even if you don't believe me, don't you trust President Oscar's judgment? That woman from that day was indeed me, I hope you can believe me."
If Pearl wasn't the person involved, she might have believed her.
Why was Seraphina so confident that she was the woman from that day?
However, the final outcome was not something she could determine. Oscar would have to come to that conclusion himself.
Seraphina felt even more dejected when Pearl distanced herself from her. She lowered her head and pitifully said, "I don't have any friends here. If you blame me for not telling you the truth and being unhappy with me, then I won't have anyone to talk to. I know you're a good person, you won't blame me, right?"
Before, she needed Seraphina's help.
But now she no longer needed it.
Pearl said plainly, "There are differences between people, not everyone can be friends, Ms. Brooks. You should find people with common goals to be friends with."
Seraphina felt even more dejected when Pearl spoke so coldly. It made her feel even more lonely.
Pearl didn't want to say anything more and said, "It's late, rest well."
After saying that, Pearl walked away.
"Ms. Harris." Seraphina tried to insist, "Please stay here tonight. I don't want to be alone in such a nice house. Can you stay with me? We can live together in this big villa, is that okay?"
Pearl ignored her and walked toward the door. When a car arrived, she got in.
Seraphina could only watch the car leave.
It wasn't until the car disappeared from her sight that Seraphina shifted her gaze.
Although she was in a luxurious villa, being alone still made her feel a bit uncomfortable.
However, Seraphina was more distressed now.
Oscar believed her, so why didn't Pearl?
Pearl was a good person, maybe if she explained things clearly to Pearl in the future, she would believe her.
After comforting herself this way, Seraphina's mood improved and she turned around to go back inside.
The servants were busy tidying up her room.
After they finished, they politely informed her.
Seraphina entered her room.
The spacious bedroom had a large and beautiful bed, with the canopy she had always dreamed of. The space was even bigger than her entire previous home.
Everything was brand new.
She opened the closet and saw rows and rows of beautiful dresses.
She had only seen scenes like this in TV dramas.
She had once fantasized about becoming a princess one day, where she could have anything she wanted. And now, her fantasy had come true.
She happily lay on the bed, rolling around with excitement, unable to calm down for a long time.
When Pearl returned home, it was already late as she had dealt with Seraphina's matters.
She checked the time. Oscar didn't have many appointments today, so he should have already finished work and returned home.
After returning, she asked the servants if Oscar had come back.
The servant said Oscar had not yet returned.
Pearl wanted to explain everything to him, otherwise, it would be difficult for her to explain in the future.
Since he hadn't returned, all she could do was wait for him slowly.
Until the early morning, he still hadn't come home.
She called him, but his phone was turned off.
She didn't know where he had gone, but she had a feeling he would not come back tonight.
Pearl didn't want to stay up late, so she had to turn off the lights and go to sleep.
The next day, Pearl woke up and found that as she had expected, Oscar didn't come home overnight.
She went to the company as usual. She was Oscar's secretary, but she seemed to have turned back into a regular office member.
Oscar would not take her with him when he went out.
Even when he came back, he would only hurriedly pass by and leave again.
She was like his toy, only able to glance at him from afar, but not receiving any affection.
For several days in a row, she didn't see Oscar.
Pearl couldn't find an opportunity to talk to him at all.
When she was at home, Hathaway would mock her, "Why hasn't Oscar come back for several days? It must be because you've annoyed him, so he doesn't even come home."
Pearl didn't want to argue with her, so she didn't pay any attention to her.
Hathaway would only become more excessive and follow her, saying, "Even if you don't say anything, I know. He doesn't come home because he has a bad relationship with you. When he doesn't dislike you, he still comes home. He despises you now, so he doesn't even come home. It's all because of you, jinx. You've prevented even me from seeing my son."
Hathaway's nagging in her ear made Pearl feel annoyed. "Saying these things in front of me won't help. I can't make him appear in front of you."
"You make me unhappy, so of course, I have to say these things to you," Hathaway said self-righteously. "There's only you and me in this house. If I don't say it to you, who can I say it to? Be careful, too, Oscar won't come home, maybe he has a new love interest outside."
As she spoke, Hathaway seemed somewhat smug and deliberately showed off. "My son is so rich and handsome, he has power, and there are many women who like him. It's normal for a man to have a few new love interests outside. Maybe one day you'll really become a deserted wife!"
