Chapter 791 Do You Think It's Possible
The next second, the phone went dead.
Nathaniel shot the number over to his assistant. "Dig into this, thoroughly."
But then, a thought struck him. He couldn't let Saskia keep running around like this.
Four days later, Jade showed up. "You won't take over the family business, and now you're defying me by keeping Saskia around again?"
Nathaniel stayed silent.
Jade's anger flared. "Nathaniel, you know what kind of person Saskia is. Why are you still so hung up on her? The fiancée I found for you is way better than the one you picked!"
The Waverly family was part of Willow Creek's elite too.
The Egan family and the Waverly family might not be as prestigious as the Brown family, but the Egan family was still the second-largest family.
They were even related to Adrian's family.
Adrian didn't want to get married at first, but he eventually caved to his parents' wishes and entered into a business marriage.
Thinking about this made Jade feel unbalanced. She continued, "Nathaniel, if you don't want to listen to me, can you at least consider how Adrian handled things? Adrian did what he had to do, but what are you doing? Do you want me to go find Adrian to be my son instead?"
When kids get scolded, they usually retort: If the other person is so great, why don't you make them your child? Jade didn't mean anything else; she just wanted Nathaniel to understand that he needed to learn from Adrian.
For the sake of the future, Nathaniel had to distance himself from Saskia.
"Why do you always compare me to others? Adrian made his choices, and I know what I'm doing with Saskia." With that, Nathaniel turned his back to Jade.
He couldn't take in a single word Jade was saying.
Jade was already angry, and hearing Nathaniel's response made her even angrier. "I compare you to others because you keep disappointing me. If you made me less angry and listened to me, would I compare you to Adrian?"
No matter how great other people's kids were, could they ever be better than her own?
But Nathaniel didn't want to hear any more. "You should go back. I know what I'm doing with Saskia."
These words almost made Jade explode with anger.
Nathaniel's plan was to trap Saskia in the villa and then have a child with her?
Jade was furious. "Don't forget that Saskia already has a child! You're a lawyer. What you're doing is illegal. Do you want to get your license revoked and end up in jail?"
Mentioning this, Jade had an idea.
She had thought about this before, but before she could act on it, Nathaniel was framed by someone else.
Now, she felt it was time to bring it up again.
"Nathaniel, you're not saying anything, huh? Fine, let's see how long you can keep your law license!" Jade's face twisted with anger.
Nathaniel remained unmoved.
It wasn't until Jade left that Nathaniel returned to the bedroom.
As soon as he walked in, Saskia rushed up to him. "Nathaniel, have you found Benjamin yet?"
Nathaniel had confined Saskia, but she wasn't concerned about anything else. Her only focus was on Benjamin.
She hadn't seen Benjamin for several days and hadn't been able to contact Azalea.
Saskia was very worried about Benjamin's situation.
Nathaniel didn't expect Saskia to be so obsessed with Benjamin. He grabbed her by the throat. "Whose bastard is he? Why do you care so much about this child?"Saskia was at a loss for words.
She wanted so badly to tell Nathaniel that Benjamin was his child.
But Nathaniel wouldn't believe her, and Jade wouldn't allow Benjamin's existence.
Rather than causing a huge conflict, it was better to keep it a secret.
Once Nathaniel's anger subsided, he would naturally let Saskia go.
Saskia remarked, "What difference does it make whose child he is? Nathaniel, we've already said everything that needs to be said. Can we stop making things difficult for each other?"
"Your mom gave me so much money. I'm not stupid. Why wouldn't I take it? I could give you up for fifty million dollars before, and after four years, there's no love left between us. Do you expect me to cry and beg for you back?" With that, Saskia looked at Nathaniel calmly.
At first, she was afraid, but then she slowly came to terms with it.
Nathaniel wouldn't kill her.
If she didn't die, there would be a day when Nathaniel would let her go. Right now, Nathaniel was just holding onto his anger.
"Do you think that's possible?" Nathaniel sneered.
Saskia said, "No, it's not. So you can't blame me. You're keeping me here, but you should go find Azalea. Azalea truly loves you. The child in her belly..."
"That child isn't mine. What does it matter if she loves me? I love you, but how did you treat me?" Before Saskia could finish, Nathaniel angrily interrupted her.
His eyes darkened as they fell on Saskia.
Saskia believed in Nathaniel's deep love, but the more he loved, the more he hated now.
Nathaniel laughed bitterly. "Talking about love with someone like you—how could you possibly understand? Until now, you haven't even met Benjamin's father. Did you kill him?"
Saskia's heart ached deeply.
Benjamin's father was right in front of her, the person she loved most was right in front of her, but she couldn't tell Nathaniel the truth.
She said, "That's my business. I'm not doing anything to you now because I want to give you a chance. If you keep me trapped here and something happens to my child, I..." Saskia wanted to say something harsh, but seeing Nathaniel's deep, cold eyes, she stopped.
Before she could finish, Nathaniel interrupted her in a low voice, "What will you do?"
He even took a step forward.
Saskia lowered her head, instantly losing all her momentum. "What can I do to a big-shot lawyer like you? Nathaniel, if you have to kill me to let me go, then go ahead. But before you do, find Benjamin. He's innocent, and so is Azalea." Her words had no effect on Nathaniel.
"In your eyes, so many people are innocent, but you never thought I was innocent. Saskia, didn't I give you my all?" Nathaniel grabbed Saskia's hand and pounded it against his chest.
The deeper the love, the stronger the hatred.
Back when Nathaniel was George, he gave Saskia everything he thought was best, fantasizing about walking down the aisle together in wedding attire.
Nathaniel brought her meals, studied with her, and lived with her.
These beautiful memories were something Saskia dared not dwell on. She feared that if she reminisced too much, she wouldn't be able to control her emotions.
Saskia clenched her palm tightly and said coldly, "Don't you know that some things can't be exchanged equally? And you call yourself a big-shot lawyer, Nathaniel. Haven't you seen enough of human nature?"
