Chapter 153 Want to Leave a Final Memory?

Pearl's eyes were filled with stubbornness.

Pearl was different from before.

"I'll go to the civil affairs bureau with you next Wednesday to settle the divorce," Oscar said coldly.

Pearl had made up her mind.

She thought about the time.

Today was only Monday, and there were still several days until next Wednesday. A second can change everything, let alone a few days!

Pearl pressed her lips together. "Why can't we go today? I don't want to wait too long."

"Oscar coldly replied, "The matter with Haley hasn't been resolved yet."

Oscar didn't want to continue this conversation with Pearl. He didn't even want to look at her again.

And what did Oscar mean by that?

Did he think Pearl had something to do with Haley being poisoned?

But Pearl had already provided evidence, and Oscar still had this attitude. Did he not believe the results of Pearl's investigation?

However, Oscar agreeing to go to the civil affairs bureau was better than not agreeing and dragging things out.

Oscar returned to the study.

Just as Oscar lit a cigarette, Harold called.

Harold reported truthfully, "Mr. Brown, after Pearl released her evidence, netizens are questioning whether Miss Garcia is acting. It's starting toaffecting the company."

This was something Oscar had anticipated.

The situation escalating would definitely impact the company.

"What about the gift appraisal? Have they found out who poisoned it?" Oscar narrowed his eyes, a dangerous look in them.

Harold said, "There's no result from that side. All indications point to Pearl as the main suspect, but Pearl has already proven her innocence."

This suggests that Haley remains the most likely suspect as the poisoner.

In Oscar's impression, Haley would risk her life to save someone. What benefit would Haley gain from framing Pearl now?

Oscar said calmly, "Have someone follow up on Haley. Ignore the online stuff for now."

"Yes."

Harold could only follow Oscar's orders.

But after hanging up Harold's call, Oscar's phone rang again.

Oscar glanced at it; it was his father, Alfonso, calling.

He hesitated, furrowing his brow, as if deciding whether to answer.

Despite his displeasure, Oscar answered the call.

To his surprise, it was Hathaway's voice that came through. "Haven't you seen what's online? Haley's reputation is about to be ruined. She's just entered the entertainment industry, and so many people want to harm her. If this escalates, her career will be over. You have to do something."

She was more worried about Haley than about Oscar.

"The gifts were only handled by Pearl and me from start to finish. The things Pearl released could be faked. Find a way to make Pearl confess. This matter must be resolved for Haley!"

Oscar hadn't expected that, even though it was Alfonso's call, Hathaway would take it and say so much to him.

Oscar's voice was indifferent. "I know what to do. I don't need you to teach me."

Oscar hung up the phone without even greeting Alfonso.

After Oscar hung up, Hathaway was even more furious. Seeing Alfonso, who remained indifferent to the situation, she became even angrier and said coldly, "You haven't been home for so long, and you come back today, not caring about your son or me! Did you see that? This is how he treats me. In his eyes, I'm not even his mother! All these years, he has never let it go. Do you still want this son or not?"

Alfonso appeared somewhat indifferent. He was about the same height as Oscar and hadn't spoken a word to Hathaway since he returned.

Hearing Hathaway's accusations, he also seemed indifferent.

Hathaway continued to express her dissatisfaction. "I don't know why Dad let him marry Pearl. This marriage should have ended long ago. I've put in so much effort to arrange things for him and Haley, but what has happened? He doesn't seem interested anymore!"

Alfonso said in a low voice. "What's the point of saying all this? He said he knows what to do, so let him handle it."

Hathaway became even angrier upon hearing this. "How can you be so indifferent? What if the divorce doesn't happen in the end?"

Alfonso looked up at Hathaway and responded coldly, "Whether they divorce or not is his concern. Why are you so concerned?"

"He's my son. How can I not worry?" Hathaway emphasized.

Seeing Hathaway like this, a trace of disgust flashed in Alfonso's eyes, and he fell silent again.

Hathaway, seeing his reaction, became more agitated. "Have you ever considered him your son? All these years, you haven't cared. Whether you're in this family or not makes no difference!"

"Hasn't he been doing well all these years?" Alfonso remained as indifferent as ever, as if Oscar wasn't his child.

Hathaway said, "He doesn't even get close to us. How well can he be? It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, none of this would have happened. You ruined us!"

Hathaway was obviously a bit agitated, tears spinning in her eyes as she pointed at Alfonso and berated him

Alfonso was used to her outbursts and was tired of them. He adjusted his suit and said indifferently, "I came back to get something. Once I have it, I'll leave. I won't stay for dinner."

With that, Alfonso walked towards the study.

Hathaway glared at him, seething with anger, "You haven't been here long, and now you're leaving again. How can you treat me like this? Is the woman outside more important to you? If you leave, don't come back. Don't ever come back in this lifetime!"

Alfonso completely ignored Hathaway's words, took what he needed, and left, disregarding her shouting, then drove away.

Hathaway's face was now covered in tears. Watching Alfonso's car drive away, she clenched her fists tightly, her eyes filled with persistence.

Meanwhile, Pearl was currently out of work and hadn't gone out.

Just when she was bored,  Janetta called her.

Janetta asked her, "I've seen everything online. Why didn't you seize the chance to release what you told me? That would have allowed you to divorce Oscar quickly, wouldn't it?"

What Janetta suggested was indeed the fastest way.

However, Pearl mentioned to Janetta. "Oscar agreed to go to court with me next Wednesday."

Although Oscar finally agreed, and Pearl felt somewhat relieved, she couldn't feel happy. After three years of marriage, Pearl still hadn't made Oscar fall in love with her or spend a lifetime with her.

Janetta sensed Pearl's low spirits. "I'm having an art exhibition tomorrow. Why don't you come to stay with me now? After the exhibition, I'll take you abroad. How about that?"

It was a way to take Pearl out to relax.

But Pearl remembered that Oscar had said he would take her to France.

Pearl pressed her lips together and slowly said, "I won't go abroad. I'll come to you now."

Pearl didn't want to stay in Serenity Haven Estates any longer.

"Okay."

After Janetta agreed, Pearl and Janetta didn't talk much longer.

After hanging up, Pearl went to find Oscar.

"I'm going to see Janetta. I won't be back tonight, and maybe not tomorrow either. You said you would take me to Francina for a trip, does it still count? When would it be?"

Pearl looked at Oscar. Oscar's expression was calm, and Pearl couldn't tell what he was thinking.

Oscar couldn't quite understand Pearl. "Aren't you going to divorce me? From what you're saying, do you want to leave a final memory with me?"
