Chapter 138: Ready to Strike First?
In the next moment, Quincy was already on his feet. He approached Oscar, reaching out to start examining Oscar.
Oscar avoided Quincy with disdain. "Find a reliable psychologist for Haley."
As soon as Quincy heard it was related to Haley, his expression changed. "Bro, you've been married for three years! Aren't you afraid Pearl will misunderstand if you act like this?"
Oscar said, "I'm just helping a friend out."
There had always been a distance between Oscar and Haley.
Quincy couldn't believe it. He sneered. "Marriage often starts with just helping someone out. Since you're already married, consider yourself lucky and cherish it!"
Quincy patted Oscar on the shoulder.
Oscar responded with a simple "Okay," his face revealing no emotion.
Since Oscar had come to him, Quincy couldn't refuse to help.
While Quincy was making the appropriate arrangements, Oscar was focused on his phone screen.
There were no messages on his phone.
Meanwhile, Pearl was walking along the sidewalk, enjoying the evening breeze before finally calling Janetta.
"I'm a bit hungry. Order some food, I'll take a cab over to your place now."
"Okay."
After Janetta's response, Pearl hung up and hailed a cab.
Meanwhile, Quincy had already contacted a psychologist.
"Her name is Luna Mitchell, she was my college classmate and is currently a psychologist at another hospital." Quincy went through his circle of friends before finally remembering Luna Mitchell.
Quincy was usually too busy to keep in touch with people much, especially the women.
Oscar said, "Arrange for her to come over tomorrow at noon."
"Got it." Since Oscar seemed so determined about it, Quincy had nothing more to say.
Quincy noticed that Oscar was staring at his phone the whole time. Unable to resist, Quincy asked, "It's rare for you to be like this. I'm on duty tonight, so I can't accompany you for a drink. If there's a problem, go out and solve it instead of wallowing in it."
Oscar glanced at Quincy.
As he watched Oscar walk out of the hospital, he also tried calling Pearl, but she had activated the "Do Not Disturb" mode, and no one answered the call.
Pearl just wouldn't pick up the phone.
Thinking about who she knew in Willow Creek, the only person Pearl could go to was Janetta.
Oscar tapped his phone, and at that moment, the driver who hadn't left the hospital yet noticed Oscar coming out.
"Mr. Brown!" The driver greeted him immediately.
Oscar coldly said, "Send me back to the old mansion."
The Brown Family's old mansion wasn't too far from the hospital.
When the sound of the engine echoed through the Brown family's old mansion, Hathaway knew Oscar had returned.
Hathaway was sitting on the sofa in the living room.
Oscar stepped into the entrance, his 6tall figure prominently framed by the doorway.
"When you were at the Hall Group's dinner tonight, did it ever cross your mind that you're the heir of the Brown family?" Hathaway said, frowning sharply at Oscar.
Oscar didn't care. "I'm not a child anymore."
"Are you trying to tell me that I shouldn't interfere too much in your affairs? Oscar, don't forget, without me, you wouldn't even exist!"
Hathaway was very emotional. She stood up from the couch due to her excitement.
Although she wasn't as tall as Oscar and there was a distance between them, the aura of the Brown family's mistress was undeniable.
Oscar remained indifferent, saying with a mocking smile, "Temporary kindness can't cover up past malice."
After saying this, Oscar walked past Hathaway without looking back and went upstairs.
Hathaway was very angry.
At this rate, her role would be subsumed by Pearl.
Pearl not only had David's attention but now also had Oscar's.
No, this couldn't happen! It couldn't be allowed to happen!
A fierce look appeared in Hathaway's eyes.
Meanwhile, Pearl had already arrived at Janetta's apartment.
At a glance, Janetta could see that Pearl looked very upset.
"If this is about the divorce, then you should relax. It's just a temporary setback, and you need to learn to adjust. If it's not about the divorce, then you need to think about how to make it happen."
Janetta led Pearl to the sofa and opened the takeout box.
Pearl hadn't eaten much for dinner due to what happened at the banquet, and being pregnant made her easily hungry.
However, after just a few bites, the plastic taste and the floating oil made Pearl feel nauseous, causing her to rush to the bathroom.
All she threw up was bile.
As she turned on the tap, Janetta's voice sounded in Pearl's ear. "Pearl, what are you planning to do now?"
After washing her face and taking a breath, Pearl replied, "I'll get that divorce. If he doesn't agree, I'll get a lawyer to sue him."
Pearl hadn't planned on telling Oscar about this.
The first step in divorce is separation.
Oscar had sent a text, but he wouldn't come over to Janetta's place to find Pearl. With Haley by his side, Pearl would be the last thing on his mind.
With the unexpected incident involving Ryan at the banquet and Hathaway's increasing dissatisfaction with Pearl, things were getting worse.
"If you sue Oscar, I'm afraid your chances of winning aren't that great. How about we take action first?" Janetta thought for a moment and suggested an idea to Pearl.
Pearl didn't understand, said, "What do you mean by that?"
Janetta explained carefully, "Post on Facebook accusing him of cheating in the marriage. Say he's bad in bed, and stir up the gossip among netizens. He'll want a divorce then."
Janetta looked at Pearl with concern.
It wasn't the best move, but men care about their dignity. At that point, Oscar would definitely not object, especially with Hathaway breathing down his neck!
Since marrying Oscar, Pearl had known about his feelings for Oscar and Haley.
Pearl didn't want to think too deeply about it.
"I just want an amicable separation."
After three years of marriage, David helped Evans pay off a million, including the money Oscar regularly gave Pearl and her job, all of which was still there.
Hathaway would make things difficult for Pearl, but everything else was fine.
Still, Pearl couldn't take that step yet.
Janetta sighed. "You still love him. At this rate, won't he have you under his thumb?"
Pearl remained silent.
Janetta put her arm around Pearl's shoulders. "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. Have a bit more to eat, you can't come to me seeking peace and quiet only to have me nagging at you."
A smile finally appeared on Pearl's face.
Although not feeling particularly hungry, Pearl forced herself to eat a few more bites, then after washing up, she felt tired and fell asleep on the bed.
In a daze, Pearl thought she heard Oscar's voice.
