Chapter 677 Why Not Consider Me

As long as something happened between the two of them, Ember was confident she could force them into marriage.

Harold had just lost a child. At such a critical moment, if Isolde had been pregnant, could he have remained indifferent? Even if she wasn't pregnant, it didn't matter.

Worst case, they could pay off the hospital to fake a report. By the time Harold discovered the truth, he was already married. Would he really get a divorce over it?

"No." Isolde bit her lip and shook her head.

Even with the drugs, she tried everything but couldn't seduce him.

Harold truly loved Desiree. Why else would he rather suffer than touch her?

Ember's face changed too. "I used so many drugs, there's no way they didn't work. What happened in there?"

Blushing, Isolde quickly explained.

Ember gasped, thinking, 'What a woman Desiree is! She's got Harold so infatuated that he'd risk his life for her. The more he loves her, the more I need to separate them as soon as possible.'

"If Harold won't break up, fine. I'll go find Desiree. Since she's moved out, she shouldn't come back." Ember's eyes flashed with determination.

Meanwhile, on Desiree's side.

After leaving home, she drove around a bit, then parked by the beach and walked alone to the shore, her vision getting blurry.

She didn't know where to go next. Going back to Harold was a no-go, and she really didn't want to go home and hear Liam and Tessa nag.

They'd been against her relationship with Harold from the start, thinking he wasn't good enough for her.

But Desiree was already head over heels.

To her, nothing else mattered as long as Harold was hardworking and capable. They could build a good life together. But reality crushed her.

If she went home now, Liam and Tessa would definitely lecture her. They might even try to set her up with someone new, but Desiree didn't want to fall in love again.

"Desiree." A familiar voice called from behind.

She turned and saw Daryl.

She wiped away her tears and tried to act casual. "Here to see the ocean too? What a coincidence."

"No, I'm here to see you. Desiree, are you out here alone in the cold because Harold hurt you?" Daryl walked up, took off his coat, and put it over her shoulders. "I told you before, he's not right for you. I can tell, he doesn't deserve you."

Desiree kept her head down, missing the determined look in his eyes.

She shook her head. "That's all in the past. I don't want to talk about it."

Anyway, they were done. She'd never get back with Harold.

When Daryl saw her in that state, his breathing became a bit more rapid.

He grabbed Desiree's hand. "Ever thought about being with me? I really like you. No matter how long it takes, I'll always be here, waiting for you to look back."

Desiree just needed to turn around, and he'd be there, step by step, shielding her from everything.

"I know you're a good guy, but Daryl, why waste your time on me?" Desiree kept shaking her head. "We can't be together."

She didn't have feelings for him. At best, they could be friends, nothing more.

"You still can't forget Harold," Daryl said.

"It's not that. We're done," Desiree replied.

"If you're done, why can't you look back at me? Desiree, you're still young. Are you gonna stay single for a jerk your whole life?" Daryl pushed.

From childhood till now, he always got what he wanted, and Desiree was no exception.

Desiree didn't know how to explain it to him.

'Forget it, let him misunderstand.' She stayed silent, basically agreeing with Daryl's words.

"Desiree, you're being foolish. If you had a kid together, I could get not wanting to remarry for the kid's sake. But now you have nothing." Daryl's eyes drifted to her abdomen, and he felt a secret joy.

Even though he had decided that if Desiree had Harold's kid, he wouldn't mind and wouldn't give up on her because of it.

But having no kid was always better.

This way, they could cut ties cleanly. Harold's name would never pop up in Desiree's life again; he would be replaced by Daryl.

"Enough. If you came to talk about this, you should leave now." Desiree suddenly got emotional.

The kid wasn't just Harold's, it was hers too.

Even if Harold was a playboy, her kid was innocent.

Daryl quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."

"It's fine. You should go. Leave me alone." Desiree turned and walked away.

Daryl didn't follow. Instead, he took out his phone and snapped a picture of her back.

In the photo, it looked like his hand was on Desiree's waist.

After taking the photo, he went back to his car and sent an anonymous text to Ember. The text had no words, just the photo.

Seeing the photo, Ember was instantly furious.

She didn't care that she was having dinner with Wesley and slammed the table in anger.

"What happened? Did Harold make you this mad?" Wesley put down his knife and fork.

Ember showed him her phone, her other hand patting her chest in frustration. "I'm gonna have a heart attack because of them. Look at this Desiree. She just left home today after fighting with Harold, and now she's already at the beach with another guy!"

She thought, 'Poor Harold, still at home defending Desiree.'

Seeing her breathing get faster, Wesley put the photo aside, pulled her to the couch, and gently patted her back to help her calm down.

Moments later, Ember said angrily, "You can't go soft on him. You have to stand with me and bring Harold back. We can't let him be so indulgent anymore."
