Chapter 455 What Other Problems Could There Be
Oscar, after a pause, replied hoarsely, "Pearl is my wife."
Adrian had lost his memory but only remembered Pearl. Oscar had thought about the worst—that he might die, leaving Adrian and Pearl together.
But Oscar loved Pearl too much to push her to Adrian, so he said it straight.
Adrian didn't respond.
Fragments of memories flashed in his mind, but he couldn't grasp them.
He had no memory of Pearl or Oscar.
Oscar's words left him unsure of how to react. He realized he had fallen for a married woman, and Oscar hadn't even retaliated. It was unbelievable!
"I know you're confused. But don't overthink it. You knew Pearl before I did."
When Oscar saw Adrian with Pearl, chatting happily, he had Harold investigate Adrian.
He even thought Adrian might be Magee.
"And what about Pearl?"
Adrian didn't dwell on his past, believing some memories were meant to fade.
But he wanted to see Pearl, who had always been in his heart, and their surroundings.
Oscar said, "You've just been rescued, but Pearl hasn't. Focus on recovering, and once Pearl is out, I'll make sure you two meet."
By then, Oscar would have everything arranged.
Adrian stayed silent. For now, he had to accept it all.
Jeffery rushed to Eldorians as fast as he could.
But he ran into trouble.
RavenWing's men surrounded him immediately.
Until he saw Kevin.
Kevin smirked coldly. "Jeffery, I admire your courage."
Jeffery had gone to great lengths to leave Eldorians, and now he was back, walking into a trap.
"Kevin, cut the crap." Jeffery didn't want to hear it. He hadn't told anyone about his return, only called Oscar.
But as soon as he arrived, Kevin was onto him.
Oscar was all about Pearl, so it couldn't have been him who betrayed Jeffery. There was no one else around him who could have done it either.
Jeffery noticed the sarcasm in Kevin's eyes and looked away.
Kevin raised his gun and shot Jeffery twice in the knees.
Jeffery fell in pain but gritted his teeth, not making a sound.
Kevin waved to his men. "Take him back."
When Kevin saw Louis having Giovanni take his and Pearl's blood for testing, he immediately understood Louis's intentions.
Later, when Louis kept Pearl, it was clear he wanted to use her to prove something, most likely waiting for Jeffery.
So, he stationed many people at various transportation hubs. Jeffery's appearance confirmed his suspicions.
How could he let Jeffery appear in front of Louis?
Meanwhile, Louis walked up to Pearl with a phone. "Aren't you going to call Oscar?"
Looking at the phone, Pearl knew Louis's so-called kindness was just to provoke Oscar.
Pearl turned her head away, not looking at Louis.
Louis wasn't angry. He walked back to Pearl and said, "Aren't you two very much in love? I'm giving you this chance, and you don't want it."
Pearl sneered. "Are you sure it's a chance?"
Pearl's eyes were icy.
Louis smiled silently, then pulled out a chair and sat in front of her. "You said you were looking for someone. Now, you've given up on Oscar so quickly."
A sarcastic smile played on his lips.
"Whether I want Oscar or not is none of your business. Louis, you've dug into my life thoroughly. I told you everything you wanted to know. You promised to let me go." Pearl's expression was heavy.
Of course, she wanted to leave. She didn't want to stay here!
Louis looked at Pearl. His memory of Francesca was long gone, and he couldn't tell if Pearl resembled her just by appearance.
He didn't have a photo of Francesca. Even RavenWing often wore a mask, hiding his face.
A previous DNA test showed Pearl wasn't his sister. But the cross bracelet on Pearl's hand was given by Jeffery.
Carol had been here and had contact with Jeffery. He wasn't clear about past events. But why would Jeffery give Pearl this cross bracelet?
Or was the test result falsified?
Thinking of this, Louis raised his voice. "Giovanni, come here."
Giovanni appeared immediately.
With just a look from Louis, Giovanni understood.
He wanted to catch Pearl off guard, but she noticed. Pearl's face turned grim. "You want to draw my blood for testing?"
Louis's attitude had changed suddenly.
She thought, 'Louis already did a test once. He wants to do it again.' Pearl was unwilling. "Doing it multiple times won't help. Isn't it better that we follow fate's arrangement and aren't siblings?"
When Pearl was conscious before, she resisted the idea of being RavenWing's daughter. When she heard there was no connection, she was relieved.
But now, Louis wanted another test.
Pearl didn't want to do it.
Louis frowned, staring at Pearl without speaking. He couldn't deny she was smart, but she hadn't thought in that direction.
"Don't you find it strange that Jeffery gave you a cross bracelet?"
Louis's words made Pearl's heart sink.
'Is that strange?'
When Jeffery gave her the cross bracelet and called her Carol, she was clear. But Jeffery was insistent, so she couldn't refuse.
Ever since she wore the cross bracelet, she hadn't felt uncomfortable or had nightmares.
Pearl stared blankly at the bracelet. 'Could it have a hidden secret?'
However, she didn't reveal her thoughts to Louis.
She used to want to see RavenWing through Louis, but now, Louis was neither an enemy nor a friend, so she couldn't reveal too much.
"A cross bracelet, what could be wrong with it? I'm tired. If you want to know the specifics, why don't you bring Jeffery here and ask him?"
Pearl turned her head away.
A cold smile appeared on Louis's lips. "Even you and Oscar don't know Jeffery's whereabouts. Where do you expect me to find him?"
Pearl's eyes turned cold. "Since you know that, why are you asking me? Louis, don't you think your words are contradictory?"
