Chapter 130 Punishment
Pearl's gaze fell on the documents, calmly saying, "I'm still in my position; Mr. Brown also needs a new secretary, so I naturally have to be diligent in selecting a good one for you."
That makes sense, but Oscar was a little unhappy.
Pearl was trying to escape from Oscar?
"I wonder when Mr. Brown will be available?" Pearl continued, saying, "We should proceed with the divorce as agreed. When the three-year term is up, we'll handle the divorce procedures. Mr. Brown wouldn't break his promise, right?"
Oscar pursed his lips, remaining silent.
Pearl looked up at Oscar again, saying, "I hope Mr. Brown keeps his promise, for both your sake and mine."
"Harold, leave here!" Suddenly, Oscar's voice turned stern.
This command startled Pearl.
As Harold left, the cramped space was left with just Pearl and Oscar, making Pearl feel a bit suffocated.
Looking into Oscar's eyes again, Pearl had a sense of foreboding.
Pearl didn't know what's wrong with him.
Wouldn't divorce be better for both Pearl and Oscar?
Oscar got the shares, Pearl gained her freedom, each getting what they wanted.
What made Oscar unhappy?
Pearl didn't have time to ponder Oscar's emotions.
It was closing time now, everyone had left; it wasn't appropriate to be alone together, especially with Oscar's unsettling gaze.
Pearl was still a bit afraid, standing up, silently planning to leave.
But before Pearl could take two steps, Oscar grabbed her hand, pressing her against the side of the table, immobilizing her.
The resumes on the table all fell down.
Pearl was nervous, staring into Oscar's eyes, fearfully asking, "Mr. Brown, what do you want to do?"
"So eager for a divorce, do you have a lover?" Oscar looked at Pearl.
With hands bracing the table, enduring Oscar's force, Pearl felt she couldn't hold on much longer. She steadied herself, turning away, saying, "Does this concern you?"
Oscar's suppressed anger had no outlet, and now Pearl had angered him.
Oscar coldly smiled, gripping Pearl's chin, turning her towards him, saying, "What does it matter? How dare you say that? We are husband and wife, what does it matter to you? Before we divorce, you're already getting involved with someone else. Shouldn't I ask about it?"
Pearl stared into his eyes and said with pale face, "Do you think this is fair?"
"What's fair or unfair?" Oscar asked.
Pearl said with a bitter smile, "I never questioned you because I knew my boundaries. Besides this divorce decree between us, there's nothing else. So why are you demanding this of me? Are you being too harsh on me?"
"That's because you should know, fairness doesn't exist in this world," Oscar replied.
Staring into Pearl's helpless eyes, Oscar said, "Pearl, you can't still be this naive, seeking fairness."
Clutching her fists, Pearl asked, "Then why not divorce? Why can't I leave? What you want from me? Tell me, I can give you everything, then we'll have no ties!"
Oscar's expression changed, sensing there was more to Pearl's words, "What do you mean?"
"I heard it all, you married me for the shares of my grandfather. After three years, you can get those shares. That's why you agreed to divorce me after three years. I'm just a tool to you, to be discarded after use, right? Why haven't you divorced yet? Is there a new use for me?" Pearl coldly remarked, her gaze icy.
Pearl told herself it didn't matter.
This marriage had its benefits for Pearl.
But deep down, Pearl was hurt, just a tool to Oscar.
Some things were better left unsaid.
Oscar frowned, his tone cold, "When did you know?"
"Does it matter?" Pearl replied, "Just know that I know everything. I don't want to continue this marriage!"
Oscar's face changed, gripping Pearl's hand tightly, sternly saying, "What if I don't want that?"
"Why wouldn't you want that?" Pearl's emotions flared, "These are your rules of the game. I followed them and completed the task, so you should let me go, Oscar. I won't play with you anymore, and you shouldn't play with me!"
"You should understand, I call the shots." Oscar's eyes were cold, and he said with cruel words, "Be nice, and maybe you'll get what you want. If you don't..."
"Oscar, I don't love you!" Pearl interrupted, staring defiantly into his eyes, "I never loved you, I don't want to play with you anymore. My youth can't be wasted on you, I want freedom, liberation."
Hearing Pearl's words, Oscar's face darkened, angrily kissed Pearl.
Oscar didn't want to hear what Pearl had to say.
He wanted Pearl to only think of him!
At least for now, Oscar needed Pearl's undivided attention.
Just like before.
Being Oscar's secretary, understanding his preferences, knowing him, and being able to provide him with convenience.
Pearl always made Oscar feel comfortable.
Perhaps they were in sync.
If it were someone else, they couldn't be like Pearl.
Oscar didn't want to lose this comfort.
But now Pearl wanted to escape, didn't want to be by his side.
Oscar wouldn't allow it!
Oscar's kiss was passionate and suffocating, almost making Pearl lose her breath.
Pearl tried to break free from this confinement by Oscar.
Pearl noticed that Oscar had changed; he had become somewhat frightening, just like last time. It seemed he wanted to gradually trap Pearl, locking her in a cage to make her a caged bird.
Pearl had her dignity.
Pearl couldn't be a caged bird.
Pearl wanted to break free from this confinement.
"Let me go." Pearl struggled desperately.
The more Pearl resisted, the more Oscar wanted to confine her, to restrain her hands, pressing them onto the table.
Everything on the table fell to the ground.
Pearl's mouth was a bit sore, unable to help but cry out.
A taste of blood spread in Pearl's mouth.
"Does it hurt?" Oscar panted, whispering lowly in Pearl's ear, "Remember this pain, if you dare next time."
With disheveled hair, teary eyes, feeling bullied and a bit indignant, Pearl refused to show weakness, "Oscar, you're a jerk."
Pearl wanted to curse Oscar.
Unable to physically resist him, she resorted to mocking him.
But she couldn't help but groan.
Oscar couldn't help but laugh at Pearl's performance, saying, "Pearl, no matter what you say, your body is honest!"
Tears streamed down Pearl's face, feeling ashamed, yet wanting to provoke Oscar, "Do you think you're so great? This is a normal physiological response, any man can..."
