Chapter 751 Scrooge

Benjamin needed cash for surgery, and Azalea was also strapped for her prenatal checkups.

If Saskia had taken the money, what would have happened to Azalea?

"What's there to think about? Saving Benjamin is more important. Are you treating me like a stranger now?" Azalea's tone was firm as she shoved the bank card into Saskia's hand.

Saskia wanted to refuse, but she could see Azalea getting upset. "Saskia, what are you worried about? We might not have much cash, but look at this big house. We're not completely broke yet."

Hearing this, Saskia felt a pang of helplessness.

To Nathaniel, a house like this was nothing. He could easily come up with the money.

The gap between their statuses was like a chasm.

Nathaniel could cover Benjamin's medical expenses alone if he wanted to. But given his current attitude, he clearly hated Saskia's guts. If he found out about Benjamin, he would probably see it as karma and feel satisfied.

"Anyway, you can keep the money. I'll sell the jewelry tomorrow and show you first," Azalea said as she stood up and ran back to her bedroom. She quickly returned, holding a jewelry box.

Inside the box were her gold pieces, the most common styles on the market.

These clearly didn't match Azalea's taste.

Saskia knew her well. Azalea loved extravagant, enamel court-style jewelry.

"When we bought the gold, I specifically asked for pieces with low labor costs, and I didn't buy branded ones to avoid high premiums. It's all real gold, so the resale value is the same," Azalea said proudly.

She had become quite thrifty.

At that moment, Saskia was stunned, tears streaming down her face. She then hugged Azalea tightly, crying harder. "Why are you so good to me?"

She thought, 'Why do I have to be so terrible? I really don't deserve such a great sister, and Azalea deserves an older sister who is far better than me.'

"Stop crying." Azalea gently wiped her tears and said, "I need a few days to talk to George about the mortgage. If I bring it up now, he might get upset."

After all, they weren't married yet.

She had sold her jewelry and given all her savings to Saskia, and now wanted to mortgage the house. It looked like a scam.

Saskia said, "I'll think of other ways. If I can gather the surgery money myself, you won't have to ask him." But she knew this was unlikely.

Since Benjamin got sick, she had taken on all kinds of jobs.

Making money was easy, but making a lot of money was hard.

If Saskia relied solely on herself, Benjamin's condition might worsen before she could gather enough.

At this, Azalea didn't take Saskia's words to heart. She said, "It's fine. We'll help you now, and you can pay us back later. We're family. Do you think I'd be afraid you'd run off?"Azalea's reassurance calmed Saskia down a bit.

But when the doorbell rang, fear gripped her again.

It must be Nathaniel.

"I'll get it," Azalea said, rushing to the door.

Sure enough, it was Nathaniel, carrying bags.

Azalea quickly took the bags from him. "You didn't have to bring so much. Come in, I'll make you some tea."

Nathaniel walked into the living room and sat next to Saskia, placing his hand on her thigh. Looking at Azalea in the kitchen, he raised his voice, "You're pregnant. You should rest. Let me handle these things."

"I don't have any morning sickness. It's fine. You've had a long day. If I let you take care of me, I'd feel bad." Azalea continued her tasks.

This was partly because Nathaniel was busy, and partly because he was willing to help Saskia.

If it were any other man, just hearing about Saskia's situation would probably scare him away, let alone provide so much financial support.

Nathaniel didn't say anything further. However, he became increasingly bold in his actions, even attempting to lift Saskia's skirt.

Saskia clamped her legs shut, tears welling up. She said, "No."

"No what? Say it louder, like I did." Nathaniel grabbed her hand, his other hand moving behind her.

With a pinch, Saskia felt her clothes loosen.

She was terrified. "Stop."

"Were you this shy with other men?" Nathaniel hissed.

Saskia had no idea what he was talking about.

She had only ever been with him. She hadn't even held hands with anyone else, let alone anything intimate.

But she didn't have the energy to think about anything else; all she could think about was getting away from him.

However, as she moved, Nathaniel followed, staying close.

Until Azalea came out with the tea, and in an instant, Nathaniel withdrew his hand and sat up properly again.

Only Saskia was left, breathing heavily.

"Why are you two sitting so close? The couch is big enough." Azalea said casually.

Her words made Saskia's heart race, and she couldn't even look at Azalea.

Nathaniel sipped his tea, noticing the jewelry box on the table. "Why did you take these out?" he asked.

"I plan to sell them tomorrow. I also gave Saskia the card you gave me. She needs money, and I want to help. She'll pay us back when she can." Azalea spoke openly.

Hearing this, Nathaniel chuckled. "I see."

He wouldn't say more in front of Azalea.

But once she left, he cornered Saskia at the stairs, wrapping an arm around her waist.

He asked, "Why do you need money? I thought you'd share with Azalea, but you're a Scrooge, taking more from her."
