Chapter 105 Different Treatment

"How can I not worry? You're in the hospital. You can't scare me. Last time, you scared me!" Haley, tears streaming down her face, said, "I don't want to see you lying in a hospital bed again. I can't sleep or eat well, and filming is not important without you. I'd rather not film at all. I want to stay by your side."

As she said this, Oscar suddenly remembered a serious injury he had suffered before. It almost took his life. It was Haley who saved him.

In response, Oscar said, "Such a thing won't happen again."

Haley was still uneasy, her teary eyes staring at him. "You promised me before that you didn't want to see me sad so that you wouldn't hurt yourself again. Don't punish me with your own body!"

He was a man who had almost gone to hell. During that time, Haley stayed by his side for seven days and nights, barely getting any sleep. So much so that later, whenever he got injured, Haley couldn't sleep all night. Even a small wound gave her great distress. She was afraid he would fall into a coma again.

That's why she rushed back from the set as soon as she heard the news. She couldn't lose Oscar again.

Haley wanted him to know that her feelings for him hadn't changed despite their conflicts. She hoped Oscar would remember that his life had a part of her in it.

This was also something Oscar would always remember.

Haley had done him a favor. For her sake, he couldn't stand idly by. Haley couldn't sing anymore, and her life no longer seemed hopeful. He would help her regain her vitality.

"Understood," Oscar responded.

At the door, Pearl was standing, holding food brought from outside.

She heard Harold say that Oscar hadn't been eating much, had lost his appetite, and if this continued, his resistance would weaken, and he would probably need to rest for a while. Eating well gave strength. She didn't want Oscar lying in the hospital, getting weaker and weaker. So Pearl went out to buy him some food. She knew Oscar's taste was not spicy or sweet, usually preferring light flavors.

Oscar didn't have any particular favorite dishes. His taste was the opposite of hers. Over the years, Pearl had gotten used to his taste.

But as Pearl approached the door, she overheard the conversation between him and Haley. The connection between them was deeper than she had imagined.

She had been with Oscar for seven years but didn't know him as long as Haley did. There were probably many beautiful memories between them that she didn't know about. Oscar had never mentioned them to her.

Pearl was unsure, and she could only glean from their conversation that they had experienced life and death together.

For some reason, Pearl felt a bit uncomfortable. She felt like she was being treated differently. She had also experienced life and death with him, so why didn't he remember?

He only remembered Haley.

Through the crack in the door, Pearl could see Oscar's soft gaze when Haley cried, and Oscar would ultimately soften at her tears.

Pearl clenched her fists tightly, feeling a lot of resentment inside. But everything could only be attributed to Oscar's favoritism. He had a soft spot for Haley, making it hard for him to see anyone else.

Pearl sniffled, trying to compose herself, and then relaxed her fists to hide her emotions. She placed the food aside and walked away.

At that moment, Haley was still wiping away her tears and asked, "So, can you tell me how you got injured?"

Oscar remained silent, not responding.

The assistant said, "Mr. Oscar, Ms. Haley is worried about you. She rushed over to see you without stopping, and she just got bumped into and sprained her foot. She's only concerned about you."

"Mae, stop being so nosy," Haley interrupted her, then said to Oscar, "I'm fine."

Oscar glanced over and noticed her ankle was red, then called out, "Harold, take her to see a doctor."

"Okay, Mr. Oscar." Harold came over.

Haley said, "No need to see a doctor for this minor injury. A little spray will do. I often get injured on set, much worse than this. Harold, can you get me some medicine?"

Harold looked at Oscar, waiting for his response.

Oscar casually said, "Harold, go get the medicine."

"Yes, Mr. Oscar." Harold ran out.

Even after all this time, Haley still missed him a lot. She restrained her longing, partly for her career and partly because she was upset that he had embarrassed her for Pearl.

But this visit was still useful; at least Oscar still remembered her kindness, which made Haley feel more at ease.

Haley handed him the freshly peeled apple, "You didn't even call me when you got injured. If it weren't for Auntie, I wouldn't have known."

Haley wanted him to speak, but he remained silent. She looked up at him. She saw Oscar scrolling through his phone, waiting for something.

She paused momentarily and calmly said, "Even if you don't say it, I know. You got injured for Pearl. And where is Pearl? You got hurt trying to save her, and she's not here to take care of you."

Oscar said Only then, "She went to buy me food."

Haley pursed her lips, not entirely satisfied with Pearl's actions. "The food outside may not be clean. If you can't eat it, why not have Auntie bring food from home? I can bring it for you, too."

"No need to trouble you," Oscar replied indifferently.

He had been injured for Pearl, and Haley couldn't accept this. Oscar had broken all his promises for her. He didn't even care about his safety.

Haley knew she had let him down by going abroad. She regretted it. When she left initially, she had her reasons.

Oscar understood, but he never brought it up. In his heart, Haley's position had changed, and even explanations weren't that important anymore.

After a while, Harold returned and found the food Pearl had bought.

"Mr. Oscar."

Oscar was still waiting, wondering why Pearl hadn't returned yet after being out for so long.

Seeing Harold return but not Pearl, he asked impatiently, "What's going on?"

"Pearl left the food at the door," Harold said, noticing it only after returning with the medicine.

Oscar looked at the bag in Harold's hand, his brow furrowing deeper, his face showing displeasure. Why did she leave in such a hurry?

Her departure only added to Oscar's growing frustration.

"Mr. Brown, the food is still warm. Are you going to eat?" Harold asked when he remained silent.

"I'm not hungry." Oscar had lost his appetite.

He tossed his phone aside, no longer interested in eating.

Haley then said, "If you're not hungry, don't force yourself. I'll have someone make fresh food from home for you later. It's cleaner."

She placed the sliced apple on the table, seeing that Oscar didn't want to talk. She didn't press him further and said, "I'll step out for a bit. Harold, give me what you have in your hands."

"Sure, Ms. Haley," Harold replied.

Haley carried the food downstairs, but her eyes were scanning around. Sure enough, Pearl hadn't left yet; she was just about to leave.

Haley walked up and called out, "Pearl!"

Pearl was adjusting the car, preparing to leave, when she saw Haley behind it through the rearview mirror.
