Chapter 548 Seems to Know Him Well

Jimena looked at him, totally floored. "You wouldn't blame me even if I did it?"

'Is Louis suddenly Mr. Nice Guy, or did I actually get through to him?' she wondered.

"Yep," Louis replied, not even blinking.

Jimena was still in shock. "Why? Are you saying you'd marry me?"

Louis grabbed her hand. "You've been by my side through thick and thin. I see how you treat me. You're amazing, and now everyone knows about us. If I don't marry you, it wouldn't be fair."

He thought about how she was ready to take the fall for him. It was too harsh for someone like her.

Tears welled up in Jimena's eyes. "I never thought you'd want to marry me. But if you're not into it, don't feel pressured. This is all my choice." Her voice was getting raspy.

"Don't talk like that. I know how you feel about me, and I know you'd do anything for me. But because you're so awesome, I can't stand to see you suffer because of me." Louis pulled her into a hug, gently stroking her hair. "What kind of wedding do you want?"

"I want an unforgettable one." Jimena's face lit up with excitement.

Honestly, the wedding itself didn't matter; what mattered was that Louis was with her and finally agreed to be with her.

"Okay," Louis said, sticking to his word.

He handed everything over to Giovanni and even let Jimena take the reins.

Jimena was thrilled and couldn't wait for the big day. But she didn't expect to run into Paloma when she went to try on wedding dresses. Paloma looked like she wanted to rip her apart.

Jimena frowned. "What's your deal? I haven't done anything to you."

She had been occupied with Eldorians matters or spending time with Louis. If she upset anyone, it would likely be individuals from different areas, but she was a true Eldorians and relatively laid-back compared to others.Paloma sneered, "Do I need to remind you what you've done? If it weren't for your stubbornness, Mr. Mitchell wouldn't even look at you!"

Jimena chuckled, "Even if it was my persistence, I earned it. If you like Louis and think he's better off without me, go for it."

Even if they got married, Louis would still be Louis. His choices were his own, and no one could change that.

"You!" Paloma was fuming. "Are you telling me to be a homewrecker?"

Jimena laughed, "Louis and I aren't married yet. Even if we were, if you can make him leave everything, then you're quite impressive."

But Jimena had put in the work for Louis for so long. Shouldn't she protect what she fought so hard for?

Seeing Jimena's chill attitude, Paloma was still in disbelief. "If I win him over, are you sure you won't be crushed?"

Jimena's smile stayed put. "Why would I be crushed? If you can make Louis fall for you, I'd wish you both the best."

Her persistence with Louis was mostly because there were no other women in the picture. If someone else came along, she'd step aside.

Paloma's face turned icy. "You don't need to say this to mess with me. You just think I can't beat you, right? Don't worry, I'll show you what I've got!"

Jimena got it. "So today is your declaration of war, huh?" She wasn't scared.

Paloma actually rushed straight to Louis.

Louis looked at Paloma and then looked away, his voice cold. "What's up?"

"Mr. Mitchell, have you forgotten me? I'm Paloma. Five years ago..." Paloma's breath quickened, eager to remind him.

As soon as she said that, Louis remembered. Paloma, from the northern part of Eldorians, the girl who had beef with Pearl, and she had a younger brother named Ricardo.

"What do you need?" Even though Louis remembered, his tone was still distant, and he didn't seem thrilled.

Paloma knew Louis, as the leader of Eldorians, was always busy and didn't have time for small stuff, so she didn't get mad at his attitude.

But she was more worried about Louis and Jimena's wedding. Now that Louis had announced it, all Eldorians would be watching.

Louis clearly didn't like Jimena. If he did, she wouldn't have had to try so hard. He was just moved by her persistence.

Paloma took a deep breath and finally said, "I'm here to stop you. You don't like Jimena. Why are you marrying her? You're moved by her, you pity her, but that's not love. If you marry her, you'll regret it forever!"

Louis didn't expect Paloma to come at him with this.

He couldn't help but smile. "We haven't seen each other in years, and we haven't been close. How do you know I'm marrying her out of pity and not love?"

Paloma seemed to know him well.

At first, he didn't want to owe Jimena, so he agreed to give it a month. Later, he was slowly moved by her genuine nature. Jimena wanted to win him over, not force him.

It seemed Paloma had been watching him all along.

Louis didn't want Jimena to waste any more time, and he didn't want Paloma to waste time on him either.

Louis smiled and said slowly, "Paloma, you're a great girl. When you had that conflict with Pearl, I already knew how you felt. I used to keep women at a distance because I was scared."
