Chapter 546 Putting the Past Behind

Oscar just stood there, not saying a word, but that silence said it all. Pearl, fuming, socked him right in the chest. "Oscar, if you even think about that again, I'll end you!"

Pearl was seriously pissed. She'd been living in hell for five long years.

Oscar was alive the whole time, but he never reached out.

Sure, he was in a coma at first, but what about after that?

No texts, no nothing. Every time she thought about it, she got even madder. And now, Oscar had the nerve to think like that!

Louis shot Oscar a cold look. "You had that coming! Pearl's been through hell, and you still want her to suffer more? Man up, Oscar, and fix this mess!"

"I get it."

Oscar was dead set on fixing everything. He had to keep his promises to Pearl.

Louis gave him a look. He'd said his piece; the rest was on Oscar.

So, Oscar and Pearl headed off to Serenea together.

Charles thought Oscar would come back solo, but nope, he brought Pearl along.

And guess what? Pearl had some serious backup.

Even the Tranquiloria army was in on it.

With all that support, the internal mess got cleaned up fast, mostly thanks to Tranquiloria.

Oscar laid it out straight. "Next time, handle your own stuff. I'm from Tranquiloria. It's not cool for me to keep butting into your business."

When Oscar found out Charles was his real dad, he took it better than Pearl did. But he knew he grew up in Tranquiloria. To the Serenea folks, he was an outsider.

With that kind of rep, how could he run Serenea?

Even with Serenea in shambles, Oscar never thought about sticking around. This time, he even brought Pearl and her crew. Even if Oscar didn't spell it out, Charles got why he was there.

"I haven't given up. I wanted to use this chance to make you stay in Serenea. But I know you don't want to."

"Fine. From now on, I won't push you. Come to Serenea if you want, and if not, no hard feelings." Charles suddenly softened up.

He'd seen Oscar's skills up close. If Oscar was a nobody, there's no way he could've rallied so many people.

Of course, the Eldorians showing up was all thanks to Pearl.

"I'll visit when I can. You're my real dad, and you saved my life," Oscar said, his voice rough.

The biggest thing was, Ashley was buried here.

Both he and Pearl wished they could've met their mom.

Charles opened his mouth, wanting to say more, but he didn't know how.

In the end, he handed over a bank card.

"Take this and buy whatever you need."

Oscar didn't take it. "I've got cash. You keep it."

He figured out that both his and Pearl's dads thought they could make up for everything with cash. If he and Pearl were still broke twenty-somethings, they might've taken it.

"I don't have much to give you."

"You saved me. That's plenty." Oscar's voice was rough as he spoke.

"Alright."

Charles watched as Oscar turned to leave.

Oscar said he'd visit when he had time, but Charles knew this might be the last time he saw him.

Charles caught up with Oscar anyway. Even though Oscar hadn't taken it earlier, he shoved the bank card into Oscar's hand.

"The money's not for you; it's for my grandson. I was too hard on him before."

Because of that, Christopher had been gone for ages without a single call.

"Don't tell me Christopher doesn't want it. Save it all for him!" Charles said firmly.

Charles still had Pearl on his mind.

He asked, "Can I talk to Pearl alone? Don't worry, with all these people around, I can't do anything to her."

Oscar hesitated but eventually called Pearl over.

Pearl greeted him politely, "Charles."

Charles was Oscar's biological father and Christopher's grandfather, so she should show respect.

Charles looked at Pearl in disbelief. "I tried to kill you before, and you still respect me without holding a grudge?"

His voice was shaking.

Pearl didn't hold any grudge against Charles. She smiled gently. "I can't expect everyone to like me. Even if you don't, the blood ties between you and Oscar are unbreakable."

With Pearl's attitude, Charles felt deeply ashamed. "Pearl, to be honest, when I found Oscar and knew you hadn't even had a wedding, I thought Oscar didn't like you. Because a man who loves a woman would never skip promises and ceremonies. At that time, I wanted Oscar to divorce you and come to Serenea so I could arrange a new marriage for him. But Oscar refused. Later, everything he did for you showed me his deep love for you. Pearl, I owe Oscar a lot. Now, I sincerely hope you both can live a good life."

Charles said a lot, his voice growing more choked with each word. His eyes were red with emotion.

Pearl smiled slightly. "Don't worry. He's the one I've loved for many years. I won't let him down."

She had loved Oscar for a long time.

She was even willing to give her life for him.

"I didn't believe you before, but now I do. Oscar didn't grow up with me, so our bond isn't that deep. He won't come to me like other kids do when they have problems. If you ever need anything, please let me know, okay?"

Charles was almost pleading with Pearl.

Pearl made a promise. "Don't worry, Charles. If anything comes up, I'll let you know. As long as you accept us and don't cause troubles for us, that's enough."
