Chapter 171 She's Leaving
As Haley was about to get out of the car, her phone rang.
It was a call from the delivery service. "Hello, Miss Garcia, you have some packages. Could you come downstairs to pick them up?"
Haley saw the delivery guy not far from the car.
There were several packages on the handcart.
Haley turned to Oscar for help. "Oscar, can you help me? These are the light bulbs I ordered. The ones in my house are broken."
Oscar didn't respond.
But a few seconds later, Oscar got out of the car.
Five minutes later.
Oscar asked Harold to help Haley bring the packages to her floor.
However, Oscar gave Harold a look.
Harold understood and started unpacking and helping to change the bulbs.
Oscar wanted to call Pearl. Just as he turned around, Haley bumped into him.
Haley instinctively cried out in pain.
The blueberry juice in her hand spilled all over Oscar.
Oscar frowned, and the next second he heard Haley apologizing. "Oscar, I'm sorry. This blueberry juice is from a brand my friend created. I tried it and it's really good. I just wanted you to have a try, yetI was so clumsy."
"It's okay."
Oscar replied calmly.
Although Oscar's white shirt was now covered in blueberry juice, he noticed the broken glass on the floor.
"But it'll take time to clean your clothes. I have a disposable robe. You can take a shower and put it onand ask Harold to get you some clean clothes."
Haley bent down to clean up the mess.
Haley gasped in pain.
Oscar pursed his lips and said hoarsely, "You should hire a maid. Do you have any band-aids?"
"I like living alone. I think I have some band-aids. I'll go look for them."
"Where? I'll get them." Oscar stopped her, speaking concisely.
Haley's finger wasbleeding badly.
Haley bit her lip. "You won't find them. I'll go."
"Wrap it with a tissue first."
Immediately, Oscar helped Haley up.
Haley leaned towards Oscar.
As Oscar supported her, Haley's bloody finger stained Oscar's clothes. She quickly apologized. "Oscar, I really can't seem to do anything right lately."
Oscar had already wrapped Haley's finger with a tissue. "Go find the band-aids."
Haley had no choice but to do as he said.
When Haley came back, she had already put a band-aid on her finger.
"I'll ask Harold to hire a maid to take care ofr you so you don;t need to do this by yourself. I have something to do, so I'll leave now."
"Okay."
Haley could no longer refuse.
But as she watched Oscar's departing figure, there was a smile in her eyes.
Oscar left Haley's apartment and got into the car, instructing Harold directly. "Drive back to Serenity Haven Estates."
"Yes."
Harold drove back to Serenity Haven Estates as quickly as possible.
Oscar had a cleanliness obsession.
But now Oscar was wearing dirty clothes.
Upon arriving at Serenity Haven Estates, Oscar didn't get out of the car immediately. Leaning back in his seat, he spoke hoarsely to Harold, "Harold, how do you think ofPearl?"
Harold was stunned.
Harold never expected Oscar to ask him such a question.
But now that he had asked, Harold had to respond. "Mr. Brown, Pearl has been with you seven years. Even if Magee is really Adrian, that's just Pearl's past."
Harold noticed Oscar's grim face through the rearview mirror.
After a few seconds, Oscar slowly spoke, "Book plane tickets for me and Pearl to Country F for three days from now."
"Okay."
Harold responded, and then heard a sound as Oscar pushed the door open and got out of the car.
Oscar walked step by step into Serenity Haven Estates.
Pearl was cooking in the kitchen, and as Oscar walked through the foyer, Pearl came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of chicken soup.
"You're back, it is just in time for dinner."
Pearl glanced at Oscar briefly and then quickly looked away.
Pearl remained very calm.
Oscar, however, frowned.
A few seconds later, he walked towards Pearl.
Pearl noticed the stains and blood on Oscar's clothes.
"Scarlett Smith, bring out the rest of the dishes," Pearl said before turning to Oscar. "You should take a shower first. I'll find you some clean clothes in a bit later."
As she spoke, Pearl took off her apron.
Pearl didn't even ask why did he get the stains.
Her eyes showed no emotion.
"Pearl, do you think you're a qualified wife?" At this moment, Oscar couldn't hold back any longer.
Pearl didn't argue with Oscar. "If you want to tell me, you will do so."
It meant that if Oscar didn't want to say, there was no point in asking.
Besides, before Oscar came back, he was with Haley.
"Shall Icontact Quincy now?" Pearl's voice remained calm.
"No need."
After saying this, Oscar walked past Pearl.
A few seconds later, Pearl followed Oscar.
At home, she had found a set of black loungewear for him.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Pearl knocked on the bathroom door. "I have prepared the clothes for you."
"Bring them in."
A hoarse voice came from the bathroom.
Pearl took a deep breath and did as instructed.
But she stood at the doorway.
Before she could hand the clothes to Oscar, he frowned and said discontentedly, "Am I a monster with long arms?"
Pearl had no choice but to take a few steps closer.
Unexpectedly, Oscar pulled her in.
Pearl instinctively wanted to escape, but Oscar pressed her against the wall.
The bathroom was filled with steam.
Pearl lowered her head, her fair neck looking so tempting in Oscar's eyes.
Oscar recalled the last time.
"Do it like last time."
Pearl became nervous.
Afraid of offending Oscar, and fearing he might act like he did last night, Pearl slowly knelt down.
Finally, Pearl helped Oscar get dressed and Oscar walked out first.
Pearl, however, had already vomited in the bathroom.
It took Pearl several minutes to feel better before she went downstairs.
Oscar was already seated at the dining table.
Pearl walked over and sat across from Oscar.
"The soup takes quite long to cook.. It will help with your stomach. Have a try." Pearl immediately ladled the chicken soup for him.
She added, "I've given the recipe to Scarlett. From now on, if you want to eat something, you can ask Scarlett to make it for you. These foods are just for regulation. You still need to address the root cause, smoke less, and drink less."
As Pearl said this, Oscar suddenly looked up and stared at her.
His eyes were cold. "What do you mean?"
Why did she give the recipe and leave these reminders, did she want to leave?
Just as Pearl was about to say something, the security guard's voice came from outside. "Mr. Brown, Miss Garcia is here."
