Chapter 90 Ring Toss
"Let's go," Oscar suddenly said.
"Alright." Harold promptly started the car.
Oscar frowned and commanded, "I said get out of the car!"
"President Oscar, you have a gathering to attend; everyone is waiting, and there are too many people here!" Harold knew it would be crowded with so many citizens.
Pearl didn't mind being in the midst of the crowd. However, for Oscar, the absence of security personnel to clear the way posed a concern. Knowing his preferences, he wouldn't favor navigating through such a throng.
Oscar stared at Harold and calmly asked, "Don't you like this kind of place?"
"What?" Harold didn't understand. He thought, 'When did I say that I like coming to this kind of place?'
But seeing Oscar's cold gaze, he could only nod. "Yes, yes, I do like coming to this kind of place."
"Well, then get out of the car!" Oscar turned his head to look outside.
He got out of the car first, watching the crowded people. He couldn't imagine what was so fascinating about this place.
Just for a few minutes of fireworks?
Oscar was somewhat disdainful.
"Please be careful, President Oscar!" Harold stood nearby, watching anxiously, fearful that he might get jostled amidst the crowd, making sure to clear a path for him.
Oscar walked quickly, closely watching Pearl and Adrian happily playing. He frowned, not quite understanding how could someone be so happy playing with those things.
Pearl held fifty rings in her hand, a total of fifty rings for four dollars, making them quite affordable. Among them, she sought out the Mickey Mouse doll displayed at the back—the largest one available. However, it was also the most challenging to win. Just like in any game, people always coveted the best prizes, and the ring toss was no exception.
"I can't win." Pearl felt defeated as she had already tried many rings and had
spent twenty dollars for
two hundred and fifty rings.
Pearl was determined to win the Mickey Mouse at the back.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't win.
Even the stall owner couldn't bear to watch anymore and said, "Miss, why don't you give up on that one? Other dolls would suit you too."
"I don't want them, I only want that one." Pearl didn't want to give up. Perhaps if she tried a little harder, she could win.
The stall owner found himself intrigued; it was the first time he had encountered someone like her. Observing her repeated misses, he couldn't help but consider the potential waste of money. Nonetheless, there was a silver lining for him. Her unwavering determination to win the doll struck a chord, evoking a sense of sympathy from even the boss himself.
Adrian saw her determination and wanted to help her. "Boss, give me fifty rings."
"Okay," the stall owner replied cheerfully, passing over the rings, pleased to have gained another customer.
Adrian took the rings and threw one, but it didn't hit.
Pearl could tell that he wanted to help her get that Mickey Mouse.
Suddenly, the fifth ring hit and caught Mickey Mouse.
According to probability, it was difficult to catch the one at the back. But Adrian easily did it.
Pearl was very happy, almost jumping up. She looked at Adrian again, forgetting everything, and hugged him happily.
Suddenly, the toy gun from the next stall went off.
The boss next door was shocked and immediately said, "Sir, where were you aiming? You almost hit my head! Although it's a toy gun, it still has a lot of force!"
It was the first time he had encountered someone aiming a gun at him. That person probably considered him an enemy.
Oscar looked at them while paying no attention to the balloons in front of him.
He didn't hear the boss speaking either, and he shot again.
Luckily, the boss was prepared and dodged before he fired.
"Harold, did you hit?" Oscar asked casually.
Harold looked at the pale-faced boss and said, "Almost!"
Adrian was being hugged by Pearl. It was the first time he had seen her so happy, and he was stunned for a moment. He smiled slightly and gently said, "Now you don't have to worry, right?"
"I'm not worried. I'm very happy," Pearl exclaimed while laughing.
The boss also breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "Young man, you're amazing. Not many people can catch the one at the back!"
He then quickly handed the Mickey Mouse doll to Pearl.
Pearl hugged the doll. She felt a sudden sense of security as if she finally had something of her own.
"We still have so many rings in our hands, what should we do?" Adrian asked.
Pearl replied, "Just catch them all, it doesn't matter which one."
"Okay." Adrian listened to her. He was still very skilled and could catch every time. He caught small things that were not of much use, but they made people happy.
The next door was in chaos now!
The boss there said fearfully, "Oh my god, sir, I will refund your money. Please stop playing!"
Harold quickly went to appease the boss, "Don't worry, we will buy the damaged items later."
Suddenly, a bullet hit a glass doll next door, immediately shattering it.
"Young man, you're shooting the balloons. Why are you shooting towards my side?"
The boss from the next stall was unhappy and said to the balloon-shooting stall owner, "Are you doing this on purpose? Are you jealous of my good business?"
The owner of the balloon-shooting game was also not happy. "If your business is good, does it mean my business is bad? Can't you see the line of people waiting in front of me? It's all because of this young man's bad aim; shooting in your direction."
Seeing this, Harold quickly approached and tried to mediate, separating them. "It's not like that. We will compensate you!"
When Pearl saw them suddenly arguing, she looked over.
She saw Oscar standing there, which surprised her.
The situation had already become chaotic by the time she saw Harold trying his best to intervene.
How did he end up here?
It shouldn't be like this!
Seeing that they were about to fight, Pearl had no choice but to run over and ask, "What's going on?"
When Harold saw Pearl coming, he said, "Secretary Pearl, you're here. Please try to persuade President Oscar. If this continues, something bad might happen!"
Pearl looked at Oscar again. Oscar put the gun down and coldly asked, "What are you fighting about? It's just that the bullet flew over to your side. How much money do you want? I'll compensate you!"
Pearl felt that something was off and asked, "Why did you come here? Are you following me?"
He was usually so busy, and he didn't like this kind of place either.
Coincidentally, she was here. There was only one possible reason.
Oscar looked up at her and said coldly, "You can come, but I can't?"
He looked around again and said, "This place is fun. How come I didn't notice it before?"
Harold felt helpless.
Does he like to play?
Pearl thought, 'Maybe he's different now. He didn't need to follow me.'
"Well, you can continue." Pearl didn't say much. She then turned to look at Harold and said, "It's quitting time now, you don't need to settle a disturbed situation for him. Just ignore him."
Upon hearing this, Oscar became even angrier.
