Chapter 31 Fake Kidnapping
Inside the studio, lights flickered, music echoed. Oscar stood behind the monitor, watching Haley filming the MV intently.
Suddenly, his phone rang, interrupting his thoughts.
Oscar took out his phone and saw the ID showing "Magdalen." He frowned and walked to the side to answer the call.
"Magdalen?" Oscar said softly, not wanting to disturb the filming scene.
Magdalen's voice sounded urgent on the other end. "Oscar, something's wrong! Pearl is in trouble!"
Oscar was shocked, almost dropping his phone. "What happened? What's wrong with Pearl?"
Magdalen urgently said, "Pearl was kidnapped on her way back! I just received the news and I'm on my way. Please come and help!"
Oscar felt his heart beating fast, and asked quickly, "Where are you? What's the exact address?"
Magdalen quickly gave an address, urging him on.
"Okay, I'll be there right away." Oscar hung up the phone, his expression grave.
He hurried towards Haley and said in a low voice, "Haley, I have an emergency to attend to. You continue filming."
Haley, who was taking a break, was surprised to hear Oscar's words. "What's going on? Do you need my help?"
Oscar shook his head. "It's nothing, just focus on your work. I'll be back after I handle this."
With that, Oscar quickly left the studio. Haley watched his hurried figure, feeling a hint of unease in her heart.
Mae, the assistant, walked up to Haley and whispered, "Haley, what's wrong with Mr. Brown?"
Haley sighed. "I know, it must be about Pearl." She vaguely guessed that the phone call might be related to the conflict earlier that morning.
Oscar drove quickly to the address provided. Along the way, he felt unusually tense. Despite some misunderstandings between him and Pearl, he didn't want anything to happen to her.
When Oscar arrived at the address, it was a hotel. He rushed into the lobby, looking around for Magdalen and Pearl. A staff member saw his hurried appearance and approached him. "Sir, do you need any help?"
Oscar asked urgently, "I'm looking for a girl named Pearl, she should be with Magdalen."
After a moment of thought, the staff member said, "Are you referring to the lady who booked the lounge just now? She should be in the lounge on the third floor."
Oscar was taken aback, then quickly went upstairs. He arrived at the door of the lounge on the third floor and gently pushed it open.
Inside was a quiet room, with Pearl peacefully napping on the sofa. Oscar stood at the door, feeling at a loss. He felt like he had been played by Magdalen. This was no kidnapping, it was clearly a farce.
At that moment, Pearl seemed to hear some noise and slowly opened her eyes. When she saw Oscar standing at the door, she sat up with joy.
"Oscar, you're here!" Pearl's face lit up with a smile, quickly taking out a carefully selected coat from the nearby bag. "I bought you a coat, try it on and see if it fits."
Oscar, looking at Pearl's excited expression, felt a surge of anger. Without even looking at the coat, he turned to leave.
Seeing his reaction, Pearl's smile froze instantly. She didn't understand why Oscar would react like this and hurriedly caught up. "Oscar, what's wrong? Don't you like this coat?"
Oscar paused, took a deep breath, and tried to control his emotions. "Pearl, do you know why I came here?"
Pearl asked in confusion, "Wasn't it Magdalen who told you I was here?"
Oscar sneered, "Magdalen told me you were kidnapped, I was so worried that I almost got into an accident rushing over. And here you are, leisurely napping, and even buying me a coat."
Upon hearing this, Pearl was stunned. She didn't expect Magdalen to deceive Oscar in this way. For a moment, she felt like her plan had backfired.
"Oscar, I didn't know Magdalen would say that. I just wanted to give you a surprise." Pearl's voice grew smaller, tears welling up in her eyes.
