"Don't think you can blackmail me. I won't compromise. Cancel the marriage yourself. Stay out of my life."
"Even if you don't care about yourself, what about your child? What good will it do to go back to Willow Creek? Stay in the business world?"
Charles sneered. He didn't look down on businessmen, but political power was more important.
Oscar didn't want to argue anymore.
"Christopher is your grandson too. If you cared about him, you wouldn't do this."
With that, Oscar left without looking back.
Charles watched Oscar's determined back, knowing his ambitions lay elsewhere.
But even if Charles stopped pushing, Mackenzie wasn't willing.
Some high-ranking officials in Serenea knew Mackenzie was Oscar's fiancée. Now that Oscar didn't return with Charles, it looked like he was abandoning her.

Oscar chose Pearl over Mackenzie. How could Mackenzie accept that?
Francis Lawson quickly rallied some families and confronted Charles. "Eldorians are known for drugs and poisons. Pearl must have drugged and bewitched Mr. Stewart!"
"Let's send troops to Eldorians and bring Mr. Stewart back!"
"Even without an engagement party, everyone knows Mr. Stewart and Mackenzie are engaged. Now Mackenzie's reputation is ruined."

Charles's voice was cold. "We can't afford another enemy right now."

"The problem is Pearl. If we kill her, won't everything be resolved?"
Charles didn't respond, his expression icy.
He was considering their words. They were right; Oscar hadn't returned, and Mackenzie was now the subject of gossip.
The root cause was Pearl. Oscar had been fine before she came along.
Charles had an idea.
Pearl might need to go, but a world war was out of the question. Many countries had nuclear weapons, and a world war would mean the end of the world.
"You all may leave. I'll handle this."
Charles hadn't decided yet, but Oscar had already anticipated it. After talking with Louis, he had Giovanni stay by Pearl's side.
Louis also placed many people around Pearl. Oscar warned her, "I have a feeling he'll try to kill you again."
Not just once. As long as Pearl was alive, Charles's thoughts wouldn't change.
Pearl remembered the last time she was taken by Tranquiloria troops. If Oscar hadn't shown up in time, she would've been thrown into the sea and disappeared without a trace.
"They've already tried to poison me once. If they try again, we won't meet them. They won't get a chance. I won't go out until Christopher gets better."
Pearl trained with Giovanni, refusing to be passive. She couldn't stay in Eldorians forever.
But RavenWing brought good news. He found a bone marrow match for Christopher.
Last time, they brought back the seven-leaf clover, and Christopher's health improved. With RavenWing's medication, Christopher no longer had asthma.
With a bone marrow transplant, Christopher's leukemia would be cured. It was the best news for them.
Their only worry was Christopher's health. Watching a five-year-old endure so much pain was excruciating for Oscar and Pearl.
Pearl almost cried with joy. She hugged Oscar, and he could feel her joy and trembling.
Louis watched with a smile. "When Christopher gets better, you can have your wedding in Eldorians, and he can be your flower boy."
