Chapter 165 Like Magic

"Mr. Brown."

Pearl nodded and greeted him.

Oscar didn't respond; instead, he walked towards Pearl.

His tall figure gave Pearl a strong sense of pressure.

His face was tense.

Pearl didn't understand his intentions at that moment.

Until Oscar furrowed his brows and asked her, "Pearl, why did you help me?"

Oscar had heard everything from Harold.

This time, it was Pearl's strategy that Oscar was able to get out so quickly and confirm that it was Ava and Payton's setup.

Oscar had told Pearl not to go, but she went anyway.

And she acted so swiftly.

She was worried about Oscar.

Afraid something would happen to him.

Pearl didn't expect Oscar to ask her this.

Although Pearl was momentarily stunned, she quickly replied, "Mr. Brown, I am your secretary. As long as I am with the Brown Group, I will help you solve problems."

She said this very calmly.

Her eyes showed no extra emotion.

A mocking smile appeared on Oscar's lips. "Then you really are a good employee."

"Not at all."

Pearl lowered her head.

Pearl's demeanor made Oscar's heart fill with endless anger.

Pearl and Magee secretly went on a date and had a great conversation.

In front of Oscar, she was cold and indifferent.

"Pearl , you are an employee of the Brown Group. As you said, this is your duty!" After saying this, Oscar turned and entered the CEO's office.

Pearl understood what Oscar meant.

Oscar was reminding Pearl not to have any illusions, thinking she could trade this for something.

Pearl felt heavy-hearted.

What could Pearl trade this for?

If she had any ulterior motives, she would have mentioned them the first time she saw Oscar.

But at least she could help Oscar.

The first thing Oscar did when he entered the CEO's office was light a cigarette.

After smoking three cigarettes in a row, he called Harold. "Screen the entire Brown Group. I don't want any bad people here!"

"Yes."

Harold didn't dare to slack off.

Oscar also left the CEO's office.

When passing by Pearl's desk, Oscar didn't even glance at her.

Forty minutes later, Oscar appeared at the largest entertainment club in Willow Creek.

Quincy, James Roberts, and Nathaniel were already there.

Seeing Oscar, Nathaniel mocked. "Why did you come alone? Where's your wife?"

Quincy and James had heard from Nathaniel about what Pearl did for Oscar today. Nathaniel also told them about what Oscar had asked him to do.

Seeing Oscar was not in a good mood, James shook his head. "Just as I suspected, you have feelings for Pearl."

Quincy suggested, "There's nothing to be afraid of. If you like her, be honest. Being together and having feelings is a good thing. Consider having another child soon to strengthen your relationship. Instead of a divorce, you can have a grand wedding!"

Oscar was already irritated.

Hearing their words made him even more annoyed.

Pearl was all about leaving early and being with Magee.

Oscar didn't speak, just drank.

Nathaniel gave Quincy a look.

Quincy understood and, along with James, started pouring drinks for Oscar.

Eventually, Oscar leaned back on the sofa, and Quincy took Oscar's phone from his pocket and immediately called Pearl. "Pearl, Oscar is drunk."

Pearl didn't respond.

But there wasn't a long silence on the phone either.

Pearl's voice was hoarse. "Where are you?"

Hearing this, Quincy immediately felt happy. "We're in room 409 at BidHub. Come quickly, I have to leave for my shift."

"Okay."

Even if Quincy hadn't mentioned his shift, since the call was made to Oscar, Pearl couldn't just ignore it.

Hearing the busy tone on the phone, Quincy realized Pearl had hung up and put the phone back into Oscar's pocket.

Quincy gave James and Nathaniel a look.

The three of them then walked out.

But as soon as they left, Oscar opened his eyes.

His eyes were deep, and at this moment, he didn't look drunk at all.

Pearl arrived at BidHub an hour later.

From the Brown Group to BidHub, she took a cab, but there was traffic on the way.

It took an hour.

Having been Oscar's secretary for seven years, Pearl had been to places like this many times.

But while walking down the hallway, a man with a staggering gait, Logan Cooper, approached.

Logan's eyes were half-closed, clearly drunk.

Moreover, Logan was broad and strong.

As Logan approached, Pearl instinctively stepped aside.

However, Logan caught a faint scent.

It smelled good, and he instinctively looked at Pearl.

Pearl was tall and had very fair skin.

Especially her beautiful little mouth.

Thinking of the image of Pearl kneeling before him, Logan got excited and grabbed Pearl's wrist.

Pearl struggled fiercely. "Sir, you're drunk, you've got the wrong person."

But Logan didn't let go. With a forceful pull, he held Pearl in his arms.

Logan sniffed Pearl's brown hair. "I knew I smelled something nice. It was you. Tonight, you're mine. Let's go!"

With that, Logan directly lifted Pearl.

The sudden lift and the touch against her abdomen made Pearl extremely terrified.

Pearl shouted loudly, "Help! Quincy Lee, Quincy Lee, help me!"

Quincy had said Oscar was drunk, so now she could only hope for Quincy.

But Pearl's cries for help angered Logan.

Logan grabbed Pearl's shoulder and pulled her off him.

Fortunately, Pearl landed on her butt.

Logan slapped her hard, making Pearl dizzy.

Logan cursed. "Hey! It's your fortune that I fancy you. And you're calling for help. Do you even know who I am?"

Logan's cursing wasn't enough to vent his anger.

He pulled out his belt to hit Pearl.

Seeing the ferocity on Logan's face, Pearl wanted to run, but Logan blocked her way.

There was no escape.

Pearl could only protect her stomach.

Just when Pearl thought she was going to be badly beaten by Logan, the expected pain didn't come.

Instead, Pearl heard a sound and saw Logan several meters away.

In front of Pearl, Oscar stood like a god.

Oscar's face was stern.

The next second, he reached out his hand to Pearl.

Though Oscar remained silent, his gesture felt magical. Pearl placed her hand in his, and his large hand immediately enveloped her small one.

With a pull, Pearl was lifted by Oscar.

Pearl was pulled into Oscar's embrace.

His solid chest was so broad and his heartbeat was so strong.
