Chapter 194 What? Married?
Pearl was shocked. When had Oscar ever shown interest in watching a movie with her?
They had been married for a long time, yet he had never made an effort to have a meal alone or watch a movie together like other couples do.
When saw she was silent, Oscar asked again, "Why aren't you saying anything? I've already asked Harold to make a reservation. After dinner, we'll watch a movie and then go home."
Pearl asked suspiciously, "Why do you suddenly want to have dinner and watch a movie with me? Is it a special occasion?"
Pearl always remained skeptical of things that were out of the ordinary, especially between her and Oscar.
Recently, they had been discussing divorce, and she had been too cold towards him. Oscar just wanted to make amends, but perhaps she didn't think the same way. He said, "I just want to have dinner with you. Will you come with me?"
After speaking, he took a small sip of the coffee Pearl had made, feeling something was off. "Have you changed the brand?"
Pearl hadn't had time to explain, "The brand you usually drink was out of stock, so I got you a new one. When the usual one is back in stock, I'll switch it back. Just drink this for now."
"No problem," Oscar unusually took a few more sips.
Pearl explained it that way, but she thought Oscar would be unhappy about not getting his usual coffee and would take it out on her.
However, he was so calm, as if he could accept this brand too.
Pearl's gaze fell on Oscar, noticing that his temper had improved a lot, and he was more patient.
She thought, 'Why had he become more lenient with her work as well? He even specifically wanted to have dinner alone with her. Was it because he had met with Haley in the office today and felt guilty, wanting to make it up to her?'
Pearl couldn't understand.
Many things were not as she had expected.
If Oscar truly cared about both Pearl and Haley, he should divorce and marry Haley.
When Haley had just walked out of the company, a car was driving by from a distance.
"Aurora, that's Haley! I can't believe I'm seeing her in person!" Grace , who was sitting in the car with Aurora, said excitedly.
Aurora's relationship with Sophia had become strained, so she wanted to hang out with others. After all, she had many friends, not just Sophia.
Aurora wasn't interested in the entertainment industry and asked indifferently, "A celebrity?"
"Don't you know? Haley is a very promising star in the entertainment industry right now. Her first role already caught everyone's attention. She'll definitely have a great future!"
Grace seemed to really like Haley. When Aurora noticed that Haley had just come out of the Brown Group, she asked a few more questions, "Is she really that impressive?"
"Recently, many people online are saying that she will definitely become very famous this year. With Oscar's help, she shouldn't do too badly!"
Upon hearing this, Aurora looked at Grace. "Oscar is helping her?"
"You haven't heard the rumors about Haley and Oscar, have you? Everyone in our circle is talking about it. Haley is said to be Oscar's first love!"
"Impossible!" Aurora immediately denied it.
Grace saw her strong reaction, saying, "What's wrong? They were high school classmates and were the envy of others as a couple back then. No one knows why they didn't get married. Some said Oscar is married, but his wife has never appeared. No one knows if it's Haley . There are too many rumors, and it's hard to tell which is true."
"Impossible, Haley Garcia can't be Oscar's first love. They were classmates but not in love!" Aurora said with certainty.
Grace curiously asked her, "How do you know? You mentioned before that you had a collaboration with the Brown Group. Did Oscar tell you?"
Aurora looked at Haley walking over, confirming that she was indeed very beautiful.
But back then, Aurora had asked Oscar directly, and he had said he didn't have anyone he liked.
So the rumors about them being high school sweethearts were unfounded.
Aurora composed herself and opened the car door.
Just as Haley was passing by the car, she heard the sound of the door opening and instinctively glanced over.
"Haley," Aurora called out to her.
Haley stopped and turned her head to look.
Upon seeing it was a girl, Haley's guard lowered significantly.
Haley's status was different now; to attract public attention, she had to be perfect and approachable in every way.
So Haley instinctively smiled. "Hello."
"Haley, I didn't expect to meet you here. I'm a fan of yours. I've watched your show, and it's fantastic. You're even better than Eileen!" Aurora appeared very excited.
She had just done a quick search online to get a basic understanding of Haley's work.
Upon hearing such praise, Haley was genuinely pleased.
Eileen had always been Haley's rival, Haley also wanted to surpass Eileen.
Moreover, Eileen had always treated Haley as an enemy and had never shown her a friendly attitude.
When on the set, Haley often tried to win others' favor and frequently smiled at Eileen, but Eileen's attitude towards Haley remained unfriendly.
Fortunately, Haley's persona was more likable and she was much more famous than Eileen.
Haley had to maintain a facade of kindness and humbly said, "You shouldn't say that. Eileen is a talented actress with great talent. I have to learn from her."
Aurora hadn't initially intended to engage with her; she usually preferred the underdog. But Haley was an exception, and she felt it was necessary to get to know her. "Here's my business card."
She handed the card to Haley.
Haley glanced at it and said, "Aurora, head of the Johnson Group."
Haley looked at Aurora again and suddenly remembered hearing about her in a conversation. "I think I've heard of you. The Johnson Group recently collaborated with the Brown Group. Oscar mentioned it to me."
Seeing that Haley knew this and called Oscar by his first name so intimately, Aurora smiled and said, "Mr. Brown mentioned this to you? It seems you two have a good relationship."
Upon hearing this, Haley's expression changed slightly, and she paused for a moment. "I'm an artist under Oscar's management. We've known each other for many years, so we have a decent relationship."
Aurora didn't decipher her words. "Mr. Brown and I studied in the same school, but I didn't know Ms. Garcia back then. Otherwise, we might have been friends. I've also heard that Mr. Brown's relationship with you is more than just classmates. I wonder when we'll get to attend your wedding."
Haley was shocked and then laughed. "Don't misunderstand. There's no way I could have anything with Oscar. He's already married. I wouldn't dare; I have my pride!"
"What? Married?" Aurora had intended to probe them, but she ended up learning that Oscar was married from Haley.
Suddenly, Aurora's face darkened.
Haley covered her mouth. "Sorry, just pretend I didn't say anything. Oscar doesn't want me to talk about it!"
Aurora, now very curious, dropped the pretense and pressed on, "No one knows about this. If Oscar is married and not to you, then who could it be?"
