Chapter 85 Winning Over the Mother-in-law's Heart

Kittie was almost angered to death byOlivia. However, it also demonstrated the strong bond between Pearl and Oscar, which significantly lifted her spirits. As long as her daughter was happy and cared for, nothing else mattered.
She also wished to uphold their relationship.
"Pearl, Oscar is helping us because of you. He is good to you, so you should be good to him too."
Upon hearing this, Pearl glanced at Oscar again.
She thought, 'When did he start to please my mother and when did my mother start to consistently support him?'
Oscar was very happy and said to Kittie, "You're speaking up for me."
Kittie smiled and said, "Of course, I'm not a fool. I can naturally see your goodness."
She looked at Evans.

Evans returned their gaze, a mixture of happiness and concern evident in his expression. He felt joy knowing that Pearl had married Oscar and hadn't endured much suffering. Yet, he couldn't shake his worries about how long their happiness would last and whether his daughter was genuinely content.

They stayed for a while and completed all of Evans' procedures.
He could go home after spending a week in the hospital, and his health was not a major concern.
After chatting for a while, they left.
Evans didn't want to delay their time and was afraid of troubling them, so he urged them several times.
As they walked out, Pearl was still feeling a bit sad. "Dad is always like this, not speaking up about his troubles. If I hadn't found out, I wouldn't have known he suffered so much."
Oscar held Pearl's shoulder and comforted her, saying, "With me here, Dad won't be mistreated again."

Pearl looked at him.

Olivia's actions had made her feel ashamed.

Worried about dragging Oscar into her family's problems, she whispered, "We won't always trouble you. As long as my dad can stand his ground, no one can bring him down. He just cares too much, but now he should be fine."

Oscar had come to terms with it.

He hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "As long as I am still your husband in name, I won't ignore your family's affairs."

He added, "I will also respect things you don't agree with, likeOlivia."

Pearl understood that he wanted to make it up to her and truly treat her well, finding ways to solve all the difficulties she faced.

However, Pearl smiled and said, "Since when did you start trying to please my mom?"

Oscar chuckled. "If I don't please your mom, no one in the Wilson family will like me."

He was aware of Evans' perpetual dissatisfaction with him. To mitigate any grievances within the household, he made a conscious effort to please his mother-in-law.

Pearl could tell that he was quite cunning.

Back at the company, there were many rumors circulating lately. Everyone knew Oscar was married, yet there were whispers about him having a new love interest. His scandals had become quite eye-catching.

Queenie even told Pearl that people at the company were curious about who Oscar's wife was and wanted to gather and wait outside his house.

This shocked Pearl. Were they really that inquisitive?

She also wondered, 'With more and more people knowing about my marriage to Oscar, will it be exposed before we get divorced?'

The Brown manor was Oscar's private space with many security guards around. Any attempt to approach the manor was swiftly halted.

No one knew who lived in the mysterious President Oscar's house or who his wife was.

However, Pearl did hear from others that Haley had started acting.

Her voice was no longer good enough for singing, so she had to transition into acting to survive in the entertainment industry.

But her acting skills were not that great.

During the celebration of the Brown family, Oscar publicly distanced himself from her, causing her to lose a lot of dignity. As a result,

people in the entertainment industry couldn't help but make fun of her.

Despite the setbacks, Haley was a smart person and knew that Oscar would protect her, making him her strongest sponsor in the future. After that encounter with Oscar, her resources became abundant again, keeping herself

busy with filming and had no time to fight with Pearl.

Pearl also became more peaceful.

She didn't want to concern herself with these trivial matters, as t

he more she thought about it, the more upset she became. Instead, she chose to simply let go of these thoughts.

Queenie was by Pearl's side, looking around, and whispered, "Pearl, this time I was wrong, please don't mind. I will never ask you about President Oscar again."

Pearl looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Queenie frowned and explained, "President Oscar already has a wife but still keeps a mistress on the side, which means he is not honest. I even suspected that President Oscar liked you, but now I realize that my idea was causing harm to you. Despite knowing that President Oscar is outstanding in every aspect, he is still unfaithful in relationships and that's not acceptable."

She shook her head, still hoping that Pearl would find a good husband.

While Pearl was organizing the documents, she asked, "Who did you hear this nonsense from?"

"I didn't make it up, I saw it with my own eyes," Queenie said. "It was that woman we both saw that day. She comes to the company every day. She will come again today at noon."

Pearl was trying to remember which woman she had seen. Suddenly, she thought of Seraphina, who lived in the villa.

"President Oscar has a wife at home, and she has no idea what he's doing outside. She must also be suffering," Queenie expressed her dissatisfaction. "If it were me, I wouldn't want this kind of life. I would rather be ordinary and have a loyal man."

Seraphina had been coming to the company to look for Oscar, and everyone saw it.

Her daily visits to the company had caused misunderstandings.

Pearl asked, "Does she come every day? What does she say?"

Queenie replied, "She says she wants to bring lunch for President Oscar. But he hasn't been at the company for lunch these past few days, so she definitely won't be able to see him."

She scratched her chin thoughtfully. "They all say that President Oscar has consistent tastes."

Pearl was confused.

Queenie continued, "They say this girl looks a lot like Haley, and President Oscar likes this type, so he found a replacement." Queenie also noticed their striking resemblance. "Haley is busy with filming and doesn't have time to meet President Oscar. So, he found someone who resembles her to ease his lovesickness."

Pearl thought it made some sense and said, "If she comes at noon, remind me."

Queenie replied, "Sure."

At noon, Seraphina arrived at the building entrance on time.

She was a bit anxious, afraid that Oscar would forget about her if too much time passed.

Although she now lived in a luxurious villa and her life was a thousand times better than before, the house was empty with only her inside. She couldn't see Oscar and couldn't feel at ease.

All the people at the nightclub had told her that there were so many women outside, and if Oscar didn't see her for a long time, he would eventually forget her and lose interest in her.

She didn't want Oscar to lose interest in her.

As usual, she carried an insulated lunch box in her hand and approached the receptionist, carefully asking, "Is President Oscar at the company today?"
