Chapter 880 Choice

Saskia hugged him tightly. "I get it. I'm here now."

"Yeah, you're here," Nathaniel murmured, echoing her words.

Even after four years apart, Nathaniel still felt a lingering fear. Every morning, he would wake up and immediately check to see if Saskia was still beside him. Only when he saw her peaceful sleeping face could he finally relax.

Nathaniel wanted Saskia by his side, wanted her to thrive. He also thought about what Jade had said about having four kids and a lively, happy family.

Nathaniel considered throwing a party, using Oscar's reputation to invite the entire elite circle of Willow Creek. He wanted everyone to know that he, Nathaniel, had such a wonderful wife.

Hosting a party was no problem for Nathaniel. As a friend, Oscar would attend. But then, Nathaniel faced some skepticism.

"You're not a lawyer anymore, now you're a CEO. And what's with your wife's status?"

"Don't forget, Mr. Brown's wife was also his secretary!"

"Could it be true love? Are they just copying everything after their separation?"

"Seriously! Nathaniel is mimicking Oscar to get his attention. This is insane!"

Nathaniel was speechless. These people had too much free time on their hands. But before he could respond, Oscar had already taken action.

Oscar had Clarence round up the rumor-mongers and brought them forward.

He addressed them, "Listen up, everyone. Nathaniel and I are friends. Our romantic histories may seem similar, but they're not. I knew Pearl, but I didn't know it was her. We were apart for five years and had a child. Our experiences are different from Nathaniel's."

"Nathaniel's situation was because his mother initially disapproved."

Oscar and Pearl's relationship was orchestrated by David Brown. They had been together for seven years, then separated for five, making it twelve years in total. Their story involved family and country.

Nathaniel and Saskia's relationship began with her working as his secretary, purely for professional reasons.

Oscar also clarified, "All shares of the Brown Group belong to my wife. Stop spreading rumors about Nathaniel and me. If I hear this again, it won't just be a public apology."

Nathaniel then stepped forward. "My wife, Saskia, was my secretary temporarily. I initially placed her in the Egan Group to work with my father, but the company had too many issues, and my father wanted me to manage it. I gave up my law license, but my wife is studying for hers. I believe she'll be an excellent lawyer."

Nathaniel's words showed his support and care for Saskia.

Saskia knew better than anyone how much she wanted to silence these rumors. She could endure the gossip, but Nathaniel shouldn't be hurt by it.

Saskia stood up. "They're good friends. Stop spreading baseless rumors."

"If you keep it up, I'll take legal action."

Saskia was serious. With her collaboration with Electra, everyone knew Nathaniel had a lawyer wife who excelled in project planning.

The few who had objections were now too intimidated to speak up.

The party Nathaniel intended to showcase Saskia ended up fueling rumors about him and Oscar. He felt guilty towards Oscar.

"I'm sorry. I didn't expect people to be so ridiculous."

"We've faced plenty of rumors before. If I got upset over every little thing, how would I handle bigger challenges? Just live your life. They won't talk anymore."

Oscar not only made them apologize publicly but also had Clarence deal with them privately.

As Oscar and Pearl left, Pearl teased him. "This isn't the first time there have been rumors about you and Nathaniel."

"I don't know what goes on in their heads. We're married with kids, and they still link us together."

"Some people just love to stir things up. Don't worry about them. Besides, you know better than anyone whether I like men or women." Oscar raised an eyebrow and spoke softly.

Pearl caught his hint and glared at him. "Do you have no shame?"

Oscar chuckled. "Why should I be ashamed with my wife? But we need to hurry home. There's something urgent we need to do."

"What's so urgent?" Pearl was puzzled.

Oscar whispered in her ear, "Nathaniel will want another child. Shouldn't we get ahead and have another one first?"

Pearl was speechless.

She frowned and hit Oscar's chest. "You said you didn't want more kids. Men can't be trusted. Get lost!"

Oscar laughed. "I do like having more kids. We both have no siblings here. It's just us in Willow Creek. More kids would be better."

"Childbirth is painful. Why don't you do it?" Pearl's face was stern. She wasn't falling for it.

Oscar kissed her cheek. "I'd love to, but I can't. If science advances and men can give birth, I'll be the first."

"Yeah, right." Pearl wasn't buying it.

Oscar urged the driver, "Drive faster."

Pearl fell silent, her desire to strangle Oscar very clear.

After the party, the rumors about Nathaniel, Saskia, and others died down. Nathaniel was satisfied.

Saskia wanted to help Nathaniel, but she realized she needed to carve out her path. She decided to stick with the law.

"Find another secretary. I've worked hard for my credentials. Missing this chance would be a real loss."
